amusing experience while swimming

Earlier today, I went swimming at my university's rec center. A few lanes to my left, there was a middle-aged guy swimming in a tan-colored speedo, who I hardly noticed for most of my workout.

As I was getting out of the water, I overheard two guys standing on the deck who didn't appear to be more than 18 or 19 (wearing board shorts) say to one another, "dude! that guy over there looks naked! I can't believe that!" At that point, another speedo-wearing guy who also appeared to be around 18 or so overheard them and chimed in: "swimming naked would be a lot more cool than your dorky shorts."

The board shorts guys were momentarily speechless. I started laughing hysterically, and the speedo student just grinned before we all went our separate ways.

The rec center would instantly divide into two groups -- those who would invest in upgraded swimsuits and those who would show up in the dorkiest shorts they could find!

Hey! A Terp!!

My son was a terp. On one of our visits to the UMd campus I used the rec facilities. Since I was a varsity swimmer in my HS and college days, I naturally wore my Speedo (frankly, what else is there to wear if you are going to wear anything while doing laps?) While I was swimming my laps, the women's team showed up for practice and one of the young ladies said to me, "You're pretty fast for an old guy".

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your workout at UMD. The Campus Recreation Center is beautiful (it's about 10 years old, I believe). I've been told by people who attended Maryland 20+ years ago that the current facilities are an amazing upgrade from the older ones.

I hope the word spreads fast , just how Dorky guys look in those Board shorts.
Especially when there isn't any Surf to use a Board on for several 100 miles.

Margaret Anderson(?) told Groucho that he never said anything nice about her. So he replied "Well, for a fat girl you don't sweat much."

But this girl was on the swim team. She was hardly fat. Besides, she was a kid, maybe 18 or 19. Anyone over 35 is an "old guy". And anyway, I am pretty damn good for an old guy.

pinesguy, good story and the follow up comments are great. About those board shorts, I have to relate this story. Once while on the nude beach at Sunset Beach Resort this young couple appears. The young man is wearing the longest pair of these shorts that I have ever seen. He takes them off and the tan lines this dude had, well they were so damn funny that you could not help but laugh. Who would want to wear all that wet cloth?
