Ok, blushingly i am going to ask.......we know what our underwear can sometimes look like by the end of the day, the various, well, uh, marks....women have natural discharges and such like. What do you do with thoughts of *okay, this is my home and i am sitting here* but then mom comes over the next day and sits in the same spot, lol? Did i clarify that enough without embarrasing myself further?

I don't sit on towels at home. I keep myself clean enough I don't worry about 'stains'. Now if I were to visit another nudist at their home, then sure, I will use towels.

I too am clean, and practice good hygeine habits, however one can never be too careful. I use a towel when I sit, or simply sit on the shorts I keep handy in case of unexpected visitors.<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by takeitontherun:

As I type this, Apollo (my dog) is over there lick lick licking his booty hole. I guess he's concerned with the same problem! For those who are less flexible or not so inclined, a towel or undies or some other kind of barrier is sometimes in order.
A towel is a good idea.
The great smile around here is that nudists have only one load of laundry-towels.

Yuck! Thank God I'm not a dog, but then if I was I would do what your dog does and not know any better, wouldn't I? http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif That has got to be one of the most disgusting things that dogs do. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

This topic has come up before. I really think for the most part that we nudists are aware of this and make sure we are clean enough to sit on our furniture without towels but......WE always do...it's just a naturist habit for us. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

To put this delicately... as a nudist I find I shower much more often. At the resort showering is a several times a day event. Always before entering a pool or hot tub. After vigorous exercise (a dip in the lake will suffice too). And most especially, after a bowel movement. Toilet paper doesn't sanitize, it removes most "debris", but in effect when you wipe you are smearing feces into your skin. I ALWAYS shower afterwards if I have the option. At home I have that option.

Actually, I think the most disgusting thing is when a dog is finished licking themself and runs over to you and plants a big wet one on your face if you're not fast enough to move out of the way. LOL
Sadly, I'm no longer a dog owner.

You could always put plastic on the sofa, then spray them down with Mr. Clean or something. Or towels work too!

That's why I use Cottonelle (tm) bathroom wipes. TP never does a complete job.

I sit on towels or wear at least a thong while inside the house. When we get older, we drip.
In the toilet, I found out a long time ago after working in the Far East that people there use water to clean themselves. I had to start doing it after finding no TP in toilets. I've continued doing it: flush to wash away the crap, then splash water onto the anus area and then rub slightly with the fingers, splash again and rub until it isn't slick. Dry with TP. Then thoroughly wash the hands. Often have to flush the toilet a final time to get rid of the anus washings. Haven't had any problems with rectal bleeding (due to rubbing with too much TP) since using water for cleaning.

well - just as useing a towel when visiting a nudist lodge i got into the habit. always have one handy nearby. i also clean the area mentioned before sitting on anything. guests are required to bring their own towel. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

We always use a towel to sit on nude whether we are out or at home. We have our showers. But when one gets older you never know what fluid could come out of your body at any given second http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
Besides, furniture is filled with all kinds of dust, etc. We have a cat and I don't want a hairy putt!!! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have trained my body to take care of fecal eliminations first thing in the morning. I follow that with a 20 minute shower.
However, did you know that when you pass gas a small amount of fecal material passes with it? This can be a problem if your fecal consistency is not as solid as you think. You may be passing a bit more than wind. After an especially "windy" day, take a swipe with some toilet paper, you may find more than you expect.
On a similar thread to this, some ingenious person wrote of the importance of using towels to sit on when nude. This avoids leaving "skid marks" on the furniture.

At EVERY (not "nearly every" but EVERY) nudist facility or gathering that I've been to in the last three decades, the rule is simple.
Bring a towel and sit on it. That is the number one rule.
At the nudist park I belong to, two "intruders" have been caught on the grounds and left wearing some nice shiny metal bracelets, and they got a free ride in the back seat of a shiny Ford Crown Victoria.
They stood out and raised suspicion because they were not sitting on towels... which meant that they apparently snuck in.
Others have been caught as well.... but that's a sure-fire method of identifying someone who doesn't belong ...

Towels work great, but anthing handy to sit on as a buffer will work, like a neighbor's kid, dog, cat, canary, rug, post man, cement block, news paper, sand papper (dog says RUFF on that one..). But a towel is fine and do bring your own when you visit nude with others. Is the polite thing to do and is sanitary.

Adding to this point, when you sweat, you sweat all over, with the result that fecal matter in the area of your anus can become liquified and get transferred to clothing or furniture.

At least in this nation we use toilet paper. This can do the job quite well. But there are nations where toilet paper is not sold so they use their bare left hand. Is why they eat with only the right hand and shake hands with only the right hand. Just one other reason to NOT go to the mid east !

Actually, there are some parts of the middle east where toilet paper is readily available. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I have also noticed that many European bathrooms are equipped with a bidet, which makes a quick rinse of bottom areas easy. And they have toilet paper too! How civilized!

I lent someone an extra towel to sit down with at the bar on a large nude houseboat trip. They folded and returned it with a large brown spot and some solid waste material on it....... I won’t do that again, and didn’t have enough time to wash it and get it dry, as it was on the day of return to the marina.

I vote we all:
1) use towels, if any of us don't already, and
2) end the discussion of this particular topic!

Well, that's the facts of being a nudist.
Some nudists I know do not use towels on their own furniture, chairs, or pool, and or hot tub deck or edge, as well as their pets.
Just the reason I do use a towel at my computer chair, and any fabric or not easily washable as a fabric covered chair, couch etc.

Nudist in Tenn -- not necessarily a foolish question but an easy one that can be answered with one word -- TOWEL.
missouriboy

NOT a foolish question, because every newbie needs to know the answer. Using your own personal towel when nude IS the required etiquette in social nudism. Always.
Those of us who are experienced in social nudism tend to forget that not everyone knows the "etiquette rules of social nudism", and they need to ask. Although some questions are asked quite frequently, they're legitimate questions about which many have concerns and need answers and reassurance.

http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gifA little trick sailors used to use was to tie laundry to a line and drag it in the water. They would lose it if it weren't tied properly, though.
