"Facetious" is, if I am not mistaken, the only word with all the vowels in alphabetical order.

"Sequoia" almost has them in reverse alphabetical order (just an observation I made once).

There are only two doubly land-locked countries in the world. Doubly land-locked means they are surrounded by landlocked countries.

Can you figure out which countries they are?

Dio Cassius's Roman History was written in
Greek.

Maurice Ravel wrote a piano concerto for a one-armed pianist (who was the brother of a famous philosopher, Ludwig Wittgenstein).

The Marriage of Figaro is an opera composed by an Austrian composer, Mozart. The libretto is in Italian. It's based on a play (in French) by a French playwright, Beaumarchais. It takes place in Spain.

Champagne is a white wine produced from mostly red grapes.

SWEETWATER TEXAS is the longest place-name typed entirely with the left hand. Isn't it? http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif

When the first of Ian Fleming's James Bond novels was turned into a movie in 1962, the author wanted composer-entertainer Hoagy Carmichael in the role of Agent 007. Fortunately for us he was over-ruled by the producer and the role went to Sean Connery instead.

Oh, and the answer to the winner of the first Indianapolis 500 is Howdy Wilcox.

Not quite on both counts. Ian Flemming was a Roger Moore fan. Moore was Unavailable due to TV show called "The Saint".

While there were other races at Indy before it was paved with bricks, the winner of the first 500 mile race on the bricks (thus establishing the race we now know) was in 1911 and was won by Ray Harmnon driving a Marmon Wasp. The WW1 ace was Eddy Rickenbacker.

And, while we are still on trivia, what now universal auto assessery was first used on the winning Marmon?

Fred, don't mean to dispute, but in Ian Fleming's own memoirs he states that he wanted Carmichael in the role of Agent 007 and was out voted by the producer in favor of Connery.

Also, the offical history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway names Wilcox as the winner of the 1919 race which is the first race termed the "Indianapolis 500"
