Can someone please tell me why some shows today think it's okay to show full frontal nudity of a woman yet when it comes to a man the ab's is the lowest they go. Even on the mature movies on Showtime and HBO.

Actually, the Obscenity laws of most states and FCC regulations deal with what is considered obscene for the public, and they say that the showing or exposition of the sexual organs/genitalia to be obscene. This means that a woman's breasts, her pubic area and buttocks are not obscene, since non of these are the female sexual organ. The exposing of a woman's labia or vulva would be considered obscene since this is part of the woman's reproductive organs. Obviously, the male penis and testicles are obscene because they are the obvious sex organ of the man. His chest and buttocks are not obscene, as witnessed on NYPD BLUE. :0

Interesting side note, up until the late 70s, I believe, the obscenity law did include the sight of pubic hair. So, if a woman shaved, she was not in violation back then. Something interesting for the SHAVING threads to chew on, huh? /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
