I was around 13 when my best friend and I were fishing naked. This was not something we did every day and we did not call ourselves nudist although, we both had leanings that way. We were naked for practical reasons. It was after school and we still were wearing our school clothes. We wanted to fish on a small island in a nearby river. It was a secluded area where we could swim naked when the water was warm enough. This was early fall and the water was too cold for swimming but, we thought nothing of leaving our clothes on the shore and making a fast dash through the chest deep water carrying only our fishing gear over our heads. We were sitting on a rock still drip-drying in the sun and just starting to put our bass lures on our lines when the sound of a very large, fast-moving animal coming right at us scared us out our wits. From the crashing sounds it made running across the wooded island, it could very well have been an elephant for all we knew. When the beast came bounding out of the woods, it turned out to be the biggest, blackest dog we had ever seen. To us, it appeared a monster; we had never seen a dog that big and black. We both dropped our poles and started to grab a rock when we realized it was just a dog; albeit a huge one. We heard somebody call out that he was friendly (too late, the wagging tail and wet tongue gave that away). In our surprise, we had forgotten we were naked. When the man came up on us petting his dog he didn’t seem to take any notice of it. He explained, as you have probably figured out, that the dog was a Newfoundlander and, much to our surprise, not even fully grown. The dog was well over 100 pounds, which made him heavier than us. The dog was soaking wet, but he was fully dry. He explained that he had rowed up the river for exercise and the dog swam. The man had to be in very good shape because that river was fairly swift. He made the normal small talk anybody would make with two boys fishing and left.
The following Christmas break, my friend and I were invited to go to a party across the river at a girlfriend’s cousin’s house. The cousin turned out to be a very pretty blond girl about a year younger than I. I was instantly attracted to her. She and I walked to the back of the house where I noticed that her house was right above the river, not far from “our” island. While we were talking, I was pushed very hard from behind and into her arms. She screamed and started laughing. It was her huge-black dog. She was surprised he was so friendly towards me. She said he was usually protective. I explained we had met out by the river. As the words left my mouth, I heard a strong male voice say: “More like in the river”. I felt my face turn red as I saw the man from the island and instantly realized he was her father. Thankfully, she was behind me and not able to see how embarrassed I was. I didn’t need to be. He told his daughter he thought I was a nice young man he had met while out on his boat with Squirt (the dog) and left it at that. He made it clear he had no problem with me seeing his daughter.
The next summer we were skinnydipping together by the island. Dad included.

I agree with Doug. That's a wonderful story, and what a surprisingly fine ending. Thanks for telling it.

GMicheal,
Great story. Don't have any embarrasing stories as a youngster. Most of my embarrasing stories are when I was much older. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
BTW, what ever happened to the little blonde girl? Still friends?
Thanks for the story. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I'll bet FireProf's hat they're married now, or soon to be! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
By the way, G Michael, welcome to the forums!

I am glad people enjoyed that story. We stayed friends through middle school (she was a year behind). Shortly after I started high school, she moved away. It only took about a year to lose touch all together.
I received several messages asking about the Newfoundland dog. This dog probably most famous for being the ancestor of the Labrador retriever. Imagine a lab the size of a St. Barnard. The Newfoundland has a long history as a working dog. The Newfoundland is to water rescue what the St. Barnard is to snow rescue. With normal weight of 140 pounds, it is easy to understand why British hunters bred them down to make the Labrador.

Too bad G Micheal, would have added a fairytale ending to a nice story. Nice story, even the ending, just the same.
Pete, bet on something else and get my hat back! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
