Where can I be nude in the UK?

I'm going to a friend's wedding in June in Wales and am hoping to take a full week (including two weekends) of vacation traveling around the UK when I go. I'll fly to London and work my way down to Wales for the wedding...

While I am familiar with traveling in the UK (especially London), I have never before sought out any nudist venues. Anybody know of nude beaches, nice resorts/campgrounds or anything I might pass?

Also, I've read about the naturist night club, Starkers, in London - has anyone been there yet?

If on the South Coast I would recommend Eastney (near Portsmouth), though it is better at weekends on nice sunny days.

Hi,

There are a few "landed" clubs which you can visit without being a member, there is a healthclub near camden which is similar. Tho it would probably be a bit intimidating to visit as a single female. I remember there being a lovely beach in Wales, tho can't remember exactly where. There is also a reasonable beach in north essex... but beware of the dunes. Let me know if you need any more info,

Tara, I just noticed that you are going in June. The weather in the western UK can be uncertain that month. I was in Cornwall not too far from Wales and ran into days that were rainy, then one chilly very windy day and finally one day that was pure sunny bliss and reached 80 degrees. As I understand it, your odds of having warm sunny weather improve for July and August.

TRAILSCOUT - Yeah, I know the UK weather in June will be fairly unpredictable, but I figured with a full 9 days, I should have the odds in my favor to get at least one sunny day! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif If not, I love it there anyway, and will have friends in Wales so I'll find plenty to do. I'm going because of a friend's wedding so it has to be June, just trying to tack on some fun naturist outings as well!

That's right I would not recommend the nude beach in Brighton ATALL. Absolutely Disgusting beach in my opinion, and certainly not a good advert for naturism. When I paid a visit there last Summer I stayed there for barely a few minutes, and went onto the textile beach instead. Brighton Council ought to close that beach down asap. The beach opened in 1980, and while I didn't visit it back then(I would have only been a toddler!), I'm sure it couldn't have been nowhere near as bad as it is now in those early years. The main textile beach on Brighton is very nice though, though obviously you won't be able to get nude!

If however, you are down in Brighton then a brilliant health spa to visit is Bristol Gardens Health Spa (http://www.bghs.co.uk) . Can't recommend it enough, great place to relax naked, no oddball characters or dodgy behaviour going on, very clean premises, and very friendly staff. And don't be intimidated by going as a single female, you'll be absolutely fine. There's usually other females there, including some lone females too.

Can't personally recommend any other places in the UK though. As the only 2 other clubs/beaches I've visited were Brighton nude beach and Rio's in London, which were not very good atall and won't be going to those places again.

I'd also be interested in checking out this Starkers Nightclub in London.

I go to Uni in Aberystwyth, which is very close to that beach. Unfortunatly I'll be going home in early June, so won't be able to join you if you do go there. Let me know if you ever plan any other trips to the area though.

Hi Tara,

I went skinny dipping with some friends in a lake near to Betys Y Coed a couple of years back, one summers day after a long walk. We just stumbled across this deserted lake in the woods and stripped for a dip - perfect!

I can recommend two beaches on the south coast - Fairlight Glen near Hastings (Kent) is wonderful when its warm, but difficult to find without prior knowledge.
Studland beach is truly great when its warm too - the best, whitest sand in the UK backed by sand dunes and trees. Very popular with many naturists, can get very busy at weekends but a great mixed crowd - families, young couples etc.

My wife and I have been a few times and I plan another couple of trips this summer. Would be very pleased to have you along, driving down to the beach one day if you are interested - 1.5 hours from where we live, which is easy to get to from London.

Just a friendly offer, if you fancy seeing the best naturist beach in the UK!!

Starker's nudist night-club features a dance floor, licenced bar, and a pool table.
ladies night is every 1st and 3rd friday of each month with discounted entry for ladies.
opening time 9:00 pm until late.

The beach at Morfa Dyffryn is great - though it's about a 20 minute walk from the car park. Fantastic scenery though - British Naturism are organising a "Fun Day" on the beach there on Sunday 12th June if you happen to be around then. Morfa Dyffryn is the only official naturist beach in North Wales though I have used the beach at Newborough on the Isle of Anglesey. There are naturist swims at Plas Menai in Caernarfon every other Sunday evening, and just over the English border in Chester every Saturday evening - the latter organised by Wirral Naturist Club of which I'm a member.

If you need any info about North Wales please let me know - I do actually work for the Tourist Board!

Hello all... thanks for all responses... too much typing to respond to each one individually...

Unfortunately I've decided not to go to the wedding. The plane fares for June were outrageous and I don't have enough days off to take more than a weekend. I'm making a special trip for the bridal shower/bachelorette party instead in Maine. Then I plan on visiting my friend after they are all settled and living in England.

I forget the name of the town, but it is two hours outside London... I will absolutely then be planning on checking out naturists clubs, beaches, and Starkers especially interests me! What a cool idea!

For now, I'm using my days off for Bonnaroo in June (a music festival in Tennesee) and The Rock Boat in September, a sort of floating music festival that goes to Mexico on a Carnival Cruise ship.

If you get to Pembrokeshire there are one or two nice beaches try Swanlake Bay or Marloes. Also Tything Barn is a beautiful tranquil place on the Cleddau Estuary with a warm salt water lagoon for swimming. Camping is possible also they have some nice cabins and cottages for hire

Slight change of plans!

Just booked my flight and I am coming over for about 10 days!

Decided I will give notice at my job a few weeks before anyway, that way I won't have to take any days "off."

I have a few job offers (one I really want) so I think it should all fall into place with work by mid june. So I'll get about three weeks off for Wales and then the Bonnaroo trip.

Hi I have been to Slapton Sands in Devon recently, great for swimming and sunning, beach not far from the car park eitherits near to Totnes & Dartmouth on the south coast.
