According to MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14252142/), a parade has been given official permission that will have some topless porn stars promoting an erotica expo in New Zealand.
The parade route is down the main street and will be done at noon. This will be the third year of the parade, but the first where they will have official recognition and police escorts. The ladies are not violating any laws being topless, therefore, they will be allowed to.
Let's see this happen down Main Street in Little Rock!

I get a kick out of some people --
"Councilor Noelene Raffills said the parade would be too distracting for a central shopping district during the busy noontime."
Uhhh, hello? Distracting, yes. Too distracting? Doubt it.
It's my bet there will be a crush of people who otherwise don't shop at noon time, many of whom will buy something in a shop when the festivities pass.

and to think the U.S. is 'the home of the Free'
(except as dictated by the "Christian Right", that is). Let's just say their idea of 'Freedom' and mine... is quite a bit different/apart.

This Parade would be possible in Ohio or NY or other places in the US where topfreedom is legal. When NYC police arrested a topless participant of the "Mermaid Parade" she sued the city and won a $10,000 settlement.
Still, I'd rather see such a parade being used to promote something other than porn stars. The problem with liberty is you don't get to decide what other people are allowed to do so long as they aren't harming others. Liberty is not very popular these days except as a slogan.

So, tell me, what's so particularly distracting about a bunch of people parading down the street without their hats on ...

Huh, oh, nevermind!

Yeah, nack, you remind me of the time I checked out a Girl Scouts' event billed as a "Topless Car Wash." Turns out the girls weren't tall enough to wash the top of a car, so that part remained unwashed.
The MSNBC poll shows 70% approval for the parade-8075 responses.
