Hopefully no one was hurt by Hurrican Rita. After 30+ hrs of driving up I59 through Livingston, Lufkin, Tyler, Dallas, back down through Waco, Brenham and back to Houston - I'm tired (and I got back sooner than others!). Hope everyone in Beaumont, Port Arthur area is OK. !

You didn't say what you found when you got back. In what part of Houston do you live? Did you have power? Any tree limbs down? Are you glad you got out of town? I presume you are OK and that's good. Was there anyone with you?

Rita threatened to be just like her big sister, but weakened a lot before she hit land. That was the best news the Gulf Coast could have heard.

I am glad you are safe, RunningNaked. Too bad you couldn't be as your name suggets while evacuating from Rita. It looks like there were no direct deaths from this hurricane. Just the secondary deaths of the 24 senior citizens on the evacuation bus. Tragic. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I hope your home held up and you can resume a normal life soon.

Thanks, WacoTx for your concern. No limbs down, had power when I got back and it was smooth sailing driving back into town from Dallas (via Waco, in fact!) Glad for the "dry run". We'll know what to do for the next time!

True, Bob, wished I could have been running naked on the highways. I would have been moving FASTER than by vehicle and wouldn't have had to worry about running out of gas, like so many others!
