Some Nudist Clubs have shops where they sell different kinds of things - Sun Screen, Towels, T-Shirts, Hats/Visors, and some may have Books and Magazines too.

My local Borders carries H&E, N, and the magazine for the Australian naturists. They are sealed in plastic and displayed in the adult section. I disagree with placing the magazines in the adult section beside the usual Playboy, but understand keeping them sealed. The local Barnes & Noble does not carry the magazines.

thats why I boycotted these two popular bookstores (Barnes and noble, and borders).
They no longer sell naturist magazines, and yet they still continue to sell playboy and other sexually oriented magazines.
That is what I call mere hypocrisy.
Stores like these should be out of bussiness.
Shame on them, pathetic.

I think you will find it's nothing but a numbers game. They sell and stock what moves and makes a profit. Also some chains are stocked and restocked by magazine brokers who recommend what is popular and moves.
Look for independant magazine and book stores. They offer personalized service and ordering.

Things aren't so bad down under...
In Oz' and NZ nudist/naturist magazines are sold openly in news agencies, as unrestricted publications..
This just shows how far the influence of those deviant, perverse, anal-retentive neo-cons - disguising themselves as moralists and religious dogooders - has infiltrated into so many societies over this past decade.
At least the flogging that the Bush regime has taken this week, plus the departure of the first of their evil troika; allied with the self-destruction of a couple of evangelical fundamentalists in the US recently; could be heralding a swing back to a more balanced and liberal outlook in Western societies ?? One can only hope.

Again, as NakedGary said -- it is a NUMBERS game, not one in which B&N or Borders are displaying censorship.
First of all, AANR publishes its monthly "Bulletin" -- and AANR does not sell the Bulletin in bookstores or on news stands. This is not a bookstore decision, or a censorship decision, but an AANR decision.
"N" is the Naturist Society's quarterly magazine. The reason it has been discontinued from most "major chain" bookstores is because it doesn't sell in enough volume to justify the distributors' efforts to offer it.
So if you want these magazines -- there are several ways to get them.
1) Join AANR or TNS. Then you get them mailed to your house. No problems.
(I'm presuming that there is no problem with you receiving N or The Bulletin at your residence. It comes in a plain envelope. Of course, if you're an adult, this SHOULDN'T be a problem. If it is, then I don't know what to tell you.
2) Alternatively -- go into a non-chain bookstore, a place where the avant-garde is expected. Since your location is listed as New York City, there are likely PLENTY of places like that. Go on in and ask for "N" from The Naturist Society, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Also - N is the journal of the Naturist Society. You get a subscription to it along with your membership. The TNS membership (as with the AANR membership) offers a lot of benefits beyond a magazine or monthly newspaper. You get a discount at most nudist parks in the United States. It serves as a note of introduction.
Again, the fact that you cannot get N or The Bulletin is not one of censorship or repression but in one case, economics and limited demand, and the other case, the publisher (AANR) doesn't do business with bookstores, at least as far as The Bulletin goes.
Subscribing/joining is the best way.

Simply put, N and The BULLETIN are "house organs." The theme being, "If you're not OF the House, then our House Organ is of no interest to you."
IOW, if you were an upholsterer, would you have any interest in reading the Plumbers' Guild Gazette? No, so that gazette wouldn't be seen in public bookstores.

I think a correction on this is in order.
"N" is the membership magazine of the Naturist Society - BUT -- they are very happy to have it distributed far and wide. They will happily send a copy to you if you pay for it. And if you find a bookseller who will carry and sell it, they will accomodate him.
They are very happy to see it distributed to non-naturists and non-members. Obviously, they cannot provide free copies to people who ask, but if you want an edition, it's there for public sale (and distribution).
"The Bulletin" is *not* distributed on any newsstands, and I don't know if AANR will sell you a copy of it.
Although, I would fully encourage anyone to join either or both organizations and have it sent to their homes. No hassles, no arguments, it's there for you.

Yeah, Lurk, I would agree that N is less of a house organ than The BULLETIN. It has wider appeal to the general public than the latter would.
