Me and my wife are nudist and living in the South of France. We have a large house with 2 extra bedrooms on a south facing side of hill, stunning view with full privacy. Close-by are shops, restaurants and a lake with a nudist area. We're thinking of rebuilding the two rooms and make it into a bed room and living room with kitchen and rent it out to nudists. Would any of you would be interested in going on holiday in a studio with full pricacy in the Cote d'Azur and what would like to have on site.(For exampe: Pool, fitness, BBQ, bar, TV etc) What do you think? Your input will be very helpful for us.

Yes, I love that area and I would certainly consider it. You've got to watch out renovating, though, a lot of hard work, especially in France with their tradesman and their 'casual' work rate! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

Tell me more... I'm sure interested.

Ditto for me. I love southern France but my French is lousy. It'd be nice to have an English-speaking couple to converse with.

I'm a contributor to H & E (UK), TAN (Australia), Travel Naturally (USA) and Going Natural (Canada). If you follow through with your idea, your story would make a good article for these naturist mags. PM me if you have questions/ideas.

Bonne chance!

I have never been outside of the US. How far is the closest International Airport from your location?

Nice maybe. Or perhaps Barcelona. I may be wrong though

You can fly from O'Hare to Nice via Paris on Air France (see www.airfrance.us (http://www.airfrance.us) ).

Great to hear you are all very much in favor of it! but what are important things for you to have on a (nudist) holiday?
What would make you decide to go to a certain place?
Btw, the place we just bought is in Montauroux, but the nearest international airport is still Nice.

Personally...(1) pick up from airport or pre-arranged taxi (have done the car rental thing in Bordeaux and kept getting lost)

(2) high speed access for laptop, or in-house access to computer to check email

(3) "bed and breakfast", but with an option to buy dinner there (reserve in advance)

(4) availability of bicycles to see surrounding area

(5) sauna or steam would be nice but not absolute

(6) pool not necessary but again would be nice...free weights or some kind of all-in-one gym apparatus would be just as good

(7) peace and quiet!

(8) why not have two guestrooms (or more) to rent? You limit incoming cash if you only rent one studio apartment.

Trust this doesn't sound too demanding of first-time innkeepers!

I am looking for somewhere in the south of France to go soon. I would like to get in touch with you, maybe to help you out with your renovation/building work. would this be ok?

Dear Journeyman, Thank you very much for your input. At this stage we have deciced to go ahead with the project, but we need a couple of months to complete it. As for Terrace Casual, thank you for your offer, but we won't need any help with the renovation. At this stage we hope to receive the first guests in July.
But please if more people would like to let us know what they think is important let us know. What about the female nudists, what do you want?

E&J, this forum may not be the best to ask because very few here have the opportunity to holiday in the South of France. The biggest naturist holiday market in France is made by the Dutch, German, Belgians, and French og course. A pool is 100% mandatory - no one wants to be at a place without pool. A hot tub may be a good idea too! And they are cheaper. Nude everywhere - no restrictions. A lot of people complain about the fuctional-nudity-only trend that starts to emerge everywhere (just nude in the pool, under the shower and when sunning).

You have to remember that people come to your place for one thing - the ability to be nude. Otherwise they could go to any of the zillions of other places. So the more there is around that theme, the better. Arrange for on-site massage possibility, on-site whatever. Organise 4WD tours and walks in the nude. If you are close to a fantastic nude beach, great. You will also have to check what the nearest nude resorts/campsites have on other. The less there is, the better.

A significant factor seems to be children ok or not. Some people specifically look for the more quiet locations - away from kids.

Check out among others La Source (Provence) (www.just-bring-sun-cream.com http://www.just-bring-sun-cream.com/photo.html), but there many others

Good luck.

Being that this is an international forum, that's a rather presumptuous statement to make.

You've done extensive research on this?

This is all good advice, IMHO.

>> Being that this is an international forum, that's a rather presumptuous statement to make.

Out of the 100 newest members (just to pick a page) I count 21 from Europe about of which half are from the UK - whose (naturist) residents by far and large prefer Spain (>70%).

Of the 200p with highest karma (most frequent (but not necessarily most recent) posters) there are only 8 (!) from Europe (some of which haven't been seen for a while). I didn't think this was so prsumptuous?

I was just trying to identify the main market. Overseas visitors (which could be a minority given that they are spoilt for (nude) choice anyway!!) may have different and hence unrepresentative wishes compared what would be the main customer..... And although we are all naked without clothes, the way we experience nudism/naturism may be different for the average US customer vs average European?

>> You've done extensive research on this?

Actually, yes. Because we are talking a lasting nudist summer business. There are always exceptions of course. However, for a start you may want to count the number of naturist sites in france that do NOT have a pool vs that do have (even if they have access to a beach too).

Naturist4ever, I do agree with your opinion.
I do think a pool is mandatory, we have visited many naturist resorts ourselves and besides the one in St Martin, they all have pools.

Why would most people actually prefer a nudist resort in Spain above France, simple: there are hardly nudist resorts in France!
Camping’s, lots of them, but I don’t like to sleep in a tent and walk half a mile to go to the toilet!

I like luxury and I think most people of our generations agrees with me that we would like to be spoiled on holiday… Therefore out small resort is not going to be cheap and cheer full but more expensive, very nice and luxurious. It’s going to have a pool with a bar, luxury rooms, WiFi, gym etc and sorry, but no kids and a small amount of people.

This is exactly why we ask you what you like to have on your holiday, because we want to make sure that, when we open our resort, you will have a great holiday and have (hopefully) everything available what makes your holiday a perfect one!
So please keep letting us know what you want!

I would really be interested ---- I am keen to go nudist but as the wife is very very reluctant to say the least, her 'first time' would have to be somewhere very private. A pool is certainly going to make your place much more attractive to rent as my nine year old is going to feel she is in heaven.

I would also say make sure your website is pretty damn good --- directions/ map to get there, what to do in the area (links) and how easy is it to actually pay you? how to get the money to you?

Hope this helps!

Dear Michael Guina, Thank you for your input. We are working with a proffesional company to make a website, so that won't be a problem. Regarding payment, it's offical, so it's going to be by cheque, money transfer or cash or arival. We haven't thought about firsts timers, it is indeed very private, so it will be a great place to go for your first nudist holiday!

What would you prefer on your holiday; a fan or an airconditioning in your bedroom?

Fuzzy Nuts

I would certainly prefer a fan. My wife and I find that we get snuffed up if we are in a room with an air-conditioner. However if it gets really hot we put the air-conditioner on while we are out and turn it off when we return. So really it depends on how hot it gets.

I think the logical answer is that a guest should have the option of having either.
