Terror raid nabs 54 suspects
Oct 2, 2005
Buckfutt, Iowa
Fifty-four terror suspects were rounded up Saturday in a case the local police are describing as a “huge win against terror”. The local sheriffs department spokesman, Ted Winchester, said they were tipped off by advertisements in the paper and around town. “The people trying to bring terror to this country are getting very bold.” said Winchester. The suspects had all gathered in a building to be trained in terror, according to the sheriffs department.
When President Bush heard about the startling success of this small town sheriffs department he said, “Our commitment is clear: We will not relent until the organized international terror networks are exposed and broken, and their leaders held to account for their acts of murder. This is one example of fine first responders doing their job to protect their country against those who would bring terror.” The President then urged stronger measures be added to the Patriot Act. He added “Remember 9-11, this is why we are in Iraq.”
The Defense Department urged that other police forces around the country be on the lookout for similar terror activities. “This came as a surprise to many in the department, we know there are terror cells in the United States, but not that they would be growing so bold.” Said a Defense Department official who asked not to be named.
Some critics are speaking out against the arrest and detention of these 54 terror suspects, saying they did nothing wrong and that America is about freedom of speech. One critic wearing an “I love Michael Myers” shirt said “I can’t believe this happened at a Halloween movie marathon.”

It's a parody of the slippery slope we are on. We are at "War with Terrorism", and at the same time we expanding the definition of terrorism to include just about anything we don't like or understand. A woman was just thrown off (http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/06/news/fortune500/southwest_shirt/?cnn=yes) an airplane for wearing a t-shirt with a "terrorist" message criticising the Bush administration. There have been similar t-shirt terrorists kicked out of public accomodations, or even arrested:
Man arrested for 'peace' T-shirt (http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/03/04/iraq.usa.shirt.reut/)
Two Sue Feds Over Anti-Bush T-Shirt Arrest (http://fox-news.com/story/0,2933,132425,00.html)

Uhm...are you kidding, or did you actually intend to illustrate exactly the kind of rampant paranoia that Mark was talking about?

If you have to twist the truth to make your point, you probably have a weak point. The lady in question was tossed off the airplane because she had a shirt on with the word F#*KERS written across her breast. She was told to cover it up or get off the airplane. She didn’t; she was removed from the airplane. It is true there was a picture of the President over the word, but it was the word, not the picture that was the problem. This has nothing to do with the war on terror and everything to do with Southwest Airlines keeping their planes clean.

Well at least you agree you have a weak point since you have twisted the truth in your reply.

Mark"A woman was just thrown off an airplane for wearing a t-shirt with a "terrorist" message criticising the Bush administration."
I agree with G Michalel's interpretation of the events. It had to do with te language, not the message. Meet the F*ckers is an inapporpriate shirt to wear no matter whose pictures are on it and anyone who wears it must expect to have some businesses deny them service.
She did comply with the wishes to cover it up, which was an good compromise, but when that failed they asked her to turn it inside out "After she was ordered to wear her T-shirt inside-out or leave, she and her husband chose to leave, the paper said." That means she did not want to go the extra length and assure that no one would see the language on her shirt. They gave her a choice and she chose to wear the shirt rather than continue flying with it inside out.
I don't see her winning reimbursement costs since she was given the option.
The peace Tshirt guy was definitely in the right for wearing a shirt he purchased in the mall. I would love to know the reasons for them ordering him to remove the shirt. I would have loved it had it been woman wearing the shirt and then complying http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
Ditto to the Anti-bush Tshirt lady. She had the right to wear the shirt and should never have been arrested.
Qikdraw, was that an article from the Onion?

Nope. I wrote it yesterday morning in a whimsical mood. I emailed it to my wife who it flew by. I got her good with it. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
(90% of the Bush quote in there is an actual Bush quote, I just added to the back end of it.)
