I've been contacting various travel agencies in Egypt over the last few months who are specialized in organizing trips for foreign tourists in the Red Sea and Sinai area about the possibility of naturist recreation in Egypt. A couple of nights ago, I got a response from a representative of one of these agencies, and we exchanged mails. He said that there exists nude beaches in the Red Sea area, and specified an 'Abu Galoum' beach in Dahab. He also said that several hotels dedicate parts of their private beaches to naturist residents, although he didn't specify any particular hotel names. He said he would be willing to organize a trip to Abu Galoum beach, including travel, accomodation, etc., and that he would tailor the trip program to suit the groups' wishes. I've yet to talk to him more to make sure he is genuine, and I am waiting for responses from other travel agencies I've mailed. I know I might be getting excited about nothing, but the guy sounds plausible, and willing to help (he even have me his mobile phone number), and it's the only hope I have at the moment. I'll try and go explore the Abu Galoum beach myself later this year, the weather is expected to be quite warm there through out the year so maybe I'll go in a few months. For the time being, I thought I'd set up this thread in case any of the forum members was interested in learning more about naturist possibilities in Egypt. As I remember someone posted a message a few weeks ago about naturist venues in Egypt.

Hi Doodles: when you first asked about nudist possibilities in Egypt, I did reply saying that I lived in Egypt and enjoyed (somewhat discreet) nudism with some Egyptian friends at Sharm. I am now back in Australia, but remember so much my nude times in Egypt. Certainly keep us all informed about nudist opportunities over there...I would love to have another reason to re-visit....cheers, Alan

I've seen your post but I didn't realize you lived in Egypt for a while! Maybe I didn't notice, or did and forgot. So were you here in Egypt for work? I'd be grateful if you gave more details about your nudist experience in Egypt, as I am trying to gather as much information as possible about possible nudist venues here. I am also trying to get in touch with other Egyptian nudists so if you are still in touch with your two friends, I'd love to exchange some ideas with them over the e-mail some time. I've talked a couple of more times with the travel agency representative and we've been brainstorming ideas for what the trip should include and what possible concerns participants would have. I've also been openning up to even more of my friends about my being a nudist, and some of them have genuinely shown some interest in the lifestyle, which is why I set up a Yahoo Group- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MENANaturism/, what I am hoping would be a gathering place for nudists from the MENA (Middle East/ North Africa) region, or anyone interested in nudist recreation in this area, whether tourists or residents. I am also planning for the group to be an accurate and more positive source information about nudism in Arabic language as there's none available online. As optimistic as this may seem, I'd really love to see nude recreation taking off a bit in Egypt over the next few years, even though it will probably be under the government's nose.

Regrettably I am no longer in touch with the nudist guys I knew when living in Egypt. From my experience, I wouldn't get too public in Egypt about your nudist activities - the authorities like to show their strength and muscle from time to time as you know. However the Yahoo group is a good idea, anonimity at least publically can be assured generally thru Yahoo groups. Best of luck with it. BTW, I could not get onto the MENA group - document unavailable it said. I'm planning a trip to Mid East in 2006, perhaps we can meet up then. Cheers, Alan
