Back in my youth, I hung with some petty criminals at the Grand & Olive pool hall in St. Louis.
There was a jail house poem, from an inmate in San Quentin, that they used to recite:
It started...
Say, you shoulda been with me last night about half past ten
That's when the pool sharks came bustin in.
In came CoCo Brown through the door,
You could tell he was a cat by the clothes he wore.
Taht's all I can remember, and obviously the meter is wrong so I don't have it just right.
I've googled, dogpiled, yahooed, up, down, around, forward, backwards, topically, words, structure, theme etc....
Does anyone have an idea how I could find the words. The Grand and Olive is gone, absorbed by Washington U.
