I don't have to do much of anything to stay in the shape I am in.

I thought round was a shape.
I run, jump, stretch, beat and bend.
I run off at the mouth
I jump to conclusions
I stretch the truth
I beat around the bush
I bend an ear

I work out 6 days a week.
My work outs consist of 45 minutes of cardio. Normally I run for 20 minutes before weights and then some other form of cardio (elliptical) for 25 minutes after my weights.
My runs are done in "zones" where I run hard to burn the most amount of calories for short amount of time. For ex: I start at a jog page (6.0) for two minutes and increase the speed every minute until I reach my peak (8.0). At my peak, I keep the pace for 2 munites then I go back down to 6.0 and continue the cycle until I reach 20 minutes.
Once a week I take a spinning class. Spinning is a lot of fun and a lot of work.
Once I have done my initial cardio, I do weights for one hour. Weights are done 5 days a week.
In addition to working out, I eat well. Six days a week I eat well. I eat 5-6 meals a day consisting of something from the protein group, carb group, and veg group. After 6:00 P.M. I do not eat any carbs, just protein and vegetable.
One day in the week I allow myself a cheat day where I eat whatever I want. I normally crave something really unhealthy during the week so as a reward to myself for fighting the craves, I eat whatever my heart desires on my cheat day.
I also have eliminated soda and juices from my diet. I RARELY drink those, especially soda. I've found soda really hurts you in the weight department. If I crave juices, I either have vitamin water for b/c it has low sugar contents or have crystal light.
I have found that these activities keep me in shape and thin.

In addition to hiking, swimming, weightlifting, aerobics, tennis, and yoga, I am presently cutting, carrying, and hand splitting loads of firewood for this upcomming Winter. Winter is comming before we know it and I for one plan to stay nice and toasty warm.

The four main components to staying in shape are; strength training, cardio, eating right and plenty of rest.
When I lift weights I work out six days a week for an hour a day. I switch off every other day so for three days I'll work out my chest, back and abs, and my legs, arms and shoulders.
Cardio I like to do before I lift weights because it warms up my muscles. Usually it’s running or bicycling. I've read that it’s better to do cardio when you first wake up because you burn stored fat.
When working out your muscles you tear the inner most fibers and your body will heal itself (hence why your muscles grow bigger). You have to allow yourself plenty of rest so your body heals appropriately.
Eat right. I try to stay away from fast food and when I go out to eat I usually get a salad. Chicken and fish is where it’s at. Don't eat fried food. Simple stuff that everyone should know. Be sure to eat small meals throughout the day and stay away from consuming large amounts of food at one time (i.e. typical breakfast, lunch and dinner).

I use walking as much as I can to help maintain my weight. I will wlak the stairs when going between floors instead of the elevator. I will park the car far from the entrance to the store to walk more. I will walk around the city instead of driving store to store or bank and PO. This walking, coupled with the swimming daily, my yoga practice, and eating right keeps me healthy and at a comfortable body weight.

Well...what Ive been doing so far is spend about 2 hours 5 days a week at the gym doing my cardio exercises & body conditioning. And twice a week ive got 2 hour sessions of futsal (thats 5-a-side indoor soccer) which gives plenty of aerobic & physical workout.
But on top of that I watch what eat nowadays...low carbs & all, making sure i eat a balanced meal.

Go to gym 4 days a week for weight training, walk briskly 4 miles every morning and try to eat and drink (sob) sensibly. Have been doing this since I came out of closet and into the naturist world. (Have lost about 30 pounds since doing so) The doctor a few years ago told me I had high cholestral and had to do something. Unfortunately (just kidding) I made the mistake of telling my wife that she had to do something as she was the cook. So we started a diet of low-fat, low -taste and high-cost food but she got the cholestral to below normal in 6 weeks. Of course the weight loss followed. Came out of the naturist closet shortly after.
I go to the YMCA three times a week and have done so since late 2002. Water aerobics, weight lifting and Yoga are my routine, but I don't do each one every time. I mix it up.
Away from the Y, I run and am getting back into bike riding.
I try to eat "healthy", but at the same time I don't deprive myself of things I like. I just practice moderation with both eating and drinking.
I do have to take several medications daily and I see my doctor twice a year, but still consider myself in better shape than many my age and wonder what it would be like if I didn't put forth the effort.
I feel better staying in shape and I have been amazed at the good compliments I get about my appearance now that I am over 50. Seems like I went unnoticed in my younger days. The positive comments I get encourage me to work harder to stay in shape.

Are we allowed to be fit and be nudist/naturists? Most of the places I've been there has been a general lack of fitness. Body acceptance seems to mean ignore the poor condition of an unfit body.
I lift weights twice weekly. Hike, run or walk thrice weekly.

You see all sorts at nudist events. Think it's about the same percentage fit, fat as with clothes on, possibly more fit when nude.
I walk, garden, walk behind my mower, do maintenance and car washing on my vehicles. Don't do gym stuff. Would if they had one where I could go nude.

Possibly more fit? I have to disagree. I have been nudist for 6yrs now and I have found nudists to be the most overweight, unhealthy and unfit. Obesity is becoming an epidemic in U.S. and in nudism, it is quite apparent.
When I attend naturist gatherings, just scanning at the people there, many are overweight or obese.
For me, being a nudist has helped me keep in shape. The fact that I have to look at my body all the time became a driver in helping me keep in shape and thin. Nudism has pushed me to workout more, eat right and keep my body in good shape. It has made me feel better about myself and how I look. When I go to a beach or resort, I feel confident. I like to look good naked.
I wish attention could be paid to the obesity epidemic. More and more studies are showing that being overweight is a big problem in U.S. and an even bigger problem to our health. It would be a great idea if nudist publications and organizations begin to address obesity within nudism. The topic needs to be discussed.
I wrote to N&N magazine about obesity in nudism and as I figured, they did not publish my article. Am sure they did not want to piss off their readers.
I believe as more and more young people, who are active, come into nudism, we will begin to see more physically fit and active nudists.
I am big beliver that there should absolutely no reason why kids should be obese/overweight (unless there is some med condition). It is amazing to see so many kids who have bellies bigger than their heads. Kids should be playing outside and running around, there should be no reason for their large weight. But instead, they sit in front of TV and video games all day and their parents say nothing.
I can understand adults being a little overweight. When adult, one has many responsibilities and can not dedicate much time to physical acitivities but like kids, there should be no reason for obesity.
I hope the issue will be given some spotlight in nudism

I disagree, although you live in a different part of the country, so your results may vary.
However, another answer may be that in the textile world you tend to spend a lot of time with your peers - a self selecting group who may happen to be younger and more fit.
Go to a shopping mall and look around, then mentally subtract 75% of the people under 40 and compare the remainder to the crowd you see at a nudist resort. Starting to get the idea?
Now go to a textile beach. Notice how young and fit the crowd is? Now go to a concert or college or high school event and compare. You'll be amazed at how self selecting the textile beach crowd is compared to a broader sample of their peers.
Except for the age factor, I'd say nudists are far more representative of the population's general level of fitness.

I agree with Naturist Mark in that there are obese people everywhere, naked and clothed. However clothed peoples"s obesity is often somewhat hidden by the garments they wear. This is not possible when naked. I really do think that because of this people who follow the nudist life style are more aware of their bodies and tend on the average to have less obesity.
Both groups have a long way to go.

My, my! You would hate to see me. I'd advise quickly averting your eyes in such cases. If you are more interested in what someone looks like than the person in that body, you will never know what an intellegent and sweet person I am. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/shocked.gif You will miss knowing many people who have been instrumental in keeping the nudist/naturist lifestyle going. Body acceptance MEANS accepting your own and other's body no matter what the condition of that body. I have made friends with women who have had double masectomys and other people who had obvious and "disfiguring" injurys or surgerys at resorts. Should these people be shunned?
How about attractiveness? Do you wish that only beautiful people be nude? Where is the line drawn if not with the acceptance of our and other's bodies no matter. Is't the inner person more important than their appearance or shall we force the not-perfect to cover up? You are, perhaps, too young to worry about such things, but there are many people who have difficulty staying thin and muscular because of illness or injury.
I can tell you that, personally, I am overweight. This is due to illness, medication, and my love of beer. I am also lacking in normal muscle mass because of injury and disabilities. At the moment I am also white as a sheet because I have melanoma and have been following my oncologists request to stay out of the sun. I am not at all sure that I will continue to do so. Afterall my grossly overweight body looks better tanned. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif

Instead of attempting to change you in any way, I'd probably ask if you've been in the water yet or if you needed anything while on my trip to the snack bar.
Later I might ask to use your lighter to spark my cigar.. that's if it's too breezy for my woodstick matches.
In between we could talk about anything or nothing as the mood fits, the people around interact, and the afternoon wears on.
If figure if you're at a nudist resort, you're comfortable with your shape, whatever that shape may be. And being an adult here on planet earth, you're well aware of your options and don't need me to point them out.

Oh my!! I have just about split my stiches (if I had any new ones)! Don't forget beer guzzling too! As to conversion, all attempts have failed over the years. I am sloth by nature and self indulgent by design. Sigh! However, if you have a spiritual "healing touch" you may try. I'd hedge my bets though.
Amazing things do happen though. Last year I developed a basal carcinoma on my NOSE. No way to hide it. On the otherhand, after the masterful touch of my surgeon, he had not only gotten rid of the carcinoma but had given me a partial face lift! I lost a batch of wrinkles! Took off 5 years at least!
Life can be good and my belly shows it! BTW, you got a beer on yer?

Mike! My Man! We are in accord. As the afternoon wears on I feel a desire for a Margharita. Get me in the mood for the forthcoming meal. The warm sun, a light breeze, a pool to dip in when overheated, good companionship, and good peace ridding the body of all stress and putting any problems in perspective. I feel better already. Thank you.

I like my tequila in shot glasses, so I'd likely order a Tangeray and Tonic... and yessir you'll notice I've enjoyed a beer or dozen on many occasions. Even brewed my own for a time.
I saw a doctor this week and was informed that at 220 lbs, I'm overweight by more than a little.
But I figure that as long as I have more things going right than going wrong, I'm OK.

Never took any type of drug (legal or otherwise)
Had/have plenty of sex
Played/play multiple sports
Just had my annual physical and my doctor is even more jealous of the shape I'm in ... my normal BP of 110/70 has dropped to 100/54 ... so as I've said on other posts if I get any more calmer and stress-free I'll be comatose and I dropped to 278 pounds this time (that's twenty pounds under my playing weight and I am 30+ years older than I was when I last played football ... aren't you supposed to put on weight after you quit playing?).

My 2 cents and random points...
To stay in shape, I walk, run, lift some weights and some very crude approximations of Yoga and Tai Chi at times.
On nudists and fitness... I appreciate the "body acceptance" idea and I think it's a beautiful idea that people can go someplace where others can admire folks for their bravery to get nude, instead of barbarically condemning their divergence from what's accepted in the mainstream. Others at a resort should be seen as going for their own good and not to "see and be seen". We nudists/naturists are above that.
However, I think everyone should attain some level fitness for their own health and well-being. I think some people need more exercise than others, and some people are still healthy at varying levels of "obesity".
It seems that stress is still an under-appreciated factor in bad health, and nudism certainly helps in that department. The extra vitamin D from sunlight, and extreme comfort provided by nudity are some other specific benefits.

I garden, wash 3 vehicles by hand, use a walk behind mower, maintain a pool, wash the church van and don't eat too many desserts. I've been at 190 for about the last 20 to 30 years.
Eating square meals and putting them into a round shape will end up with more bulges in that round shape.

My doctor had been after me for a few years to lose weight and exercise to control my blood pressure and my cholesterol. I'm also genetically inclined for diabetes. Inexplicably, those reasons didn't give me the motivation to do it. Then I decided to do it for vanity, to "look good nekkid". That seems to be working for me. Of course, I fully realize that improved health is an added benefit.
I can accept my body but at the same time acceptance doesn't mean I have to maintain the status quo. I've seen my possible health future and it scares the crap out of me.
