Yep, I know this is a cloths free forum, but thought I would use these restrained pictures anyway even though I love to be naked.
Well last year when we went to Hawaii, I was a whopping 240 pounds, yep that is me the fat pot bellied guy. I had just gotten out of the water at Two Step where I like to snorkel.

Now here is me with a picture taken just a few days ago at 197 pounds, and I must say I am quite proud of my weight loss which is due to change of diet and excersize.

Kohana,
Fantastic. You look great and you did a great job.
I am sure the weight loss process was not easy and in the end, you did the best thing. The best thing for your mind, your health, and your body. You look great and I am sure you feel great.
The best part is, when nude, you like what you see.
Keep it up and don't lose sight.
With the obesity epidemic in U.S. it is great to see that someone cares and is doing his part to address the issue.

This did an awesome job on my mind, as it was clouded with the fat boy thing... something you develope after you get larger.
It has changed my whole outlook on life in general and gave me so much gain mentally.
My goal is 190 pounds, and to maintain that even while working out with the Abb Lounge Ultra and Bowflex.
No ice cream period
Instead of candy for a snack, I eat fresh fruit, nothing canned.
No salt period, foods we eat contain enough MSG's to cause a heart attack anyway.
Salads, oh do I love salads with low cal dressing.
No red meat period, eat more Fish, Skinless Chicken no fried foods, and pork as a last resort white meat.
I can tell you that I don't feel 51 years old either.
Enjoy life much better, want to dance naked and don't care who is watching either!

That is what it's all about Kohana. You are perfect example of how to fight the battle with weight.
Not only do you feel great, you look GREAT. You are looking better than most 51 y/o.
You have the eating habit down. It is all about choices. If you are in mood for something sweet, it is a choice between the candy or some fruit.
If you are on lunch, it is a choice between salad or a burger.
Losing weight and eating well is all about choices.
It is not to say that we can not treat ourselves to something like McD, ice cream, or chinese food. Those are fine but should be done in moderation.
For ex: I LOVE LOVE LOVE cheese cake and it isn't something I can give up. I don't eat it all the time but every once in while I do. I love chinese food, fried rice and chicken wings, but I only have it once a month.
Keep up the great job Kohana, you are an inspiration to us all.

Outstanding job, I'm 56 and know the effort involved, especially with the diet, which is my failing. I'm fit, but I still have that bit of a gut, and it's all because of the better things in life, like chocolate, the crispy skin of chicken, ICE CREAM!!!! etc etc. Still haven't been able to convince myself to endure the loss of all of that.
Besides, if we don't have *some* vices, we wouldn't be human!
Congrats again, you look great!

Congrats on your success. I know the effects that Bowflex can do, as I purchased on about 9 months ago. As you through dedication and tired of the 'huge belly', I ended up losing 32 pounds, from 212 to 180, so far. My goal is 170 to 175, so I'm almost there. I would be there (goal) by now, but I'm at that weight that I have 'cheated' on many occaisions, but still able to maintain my weight around the 180 to 183 range.
As you stated, it does take a lot of dedication and self imposed strict dieting, along with an exercise routine that you must follow. After months of 'torture' I, like you, am able to feel that much better about myself. BTW, I just turned 50 last month and the weight gets harder to lose as you get older. But you have to administer self control and dedicate yourself to a routine to reach your goals.
Again, congrats on your success. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

Kohana_Kioni;
I started out with a 48" waist and busting the seams. I put on 30" on Friday. I am 5'8".
I started getting interested in nudism as I had lost weight. I can't help but see a similar parallel in your experience.
For me, when I learned to really love and value my body, I wanted to take care of it. Once I really learned to love and value my body, I saw it as more natural and wonderful. Being nude, when it makes sense, reinvorces that healthy view. Is it the same with you?

I weighed about 177 pounds(80.5 Kgs) and have dropped to about 165 pounds(75 Kgs). A large portion of this came off of my belly and it feels a lot better to have this gone. I plan to lose about 5 more pounds and then hold there.
The only thing that I have to do to lose weight is to not bring home quite as many snacks from the grocery store. If I do some bike riding, I can easily drop some weight and still be able to eat anything that I want to.

Great inspiration! As for me, I weigh the same as I did in my 20's, but it's distributed differently. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/shocked.gif (I've always been thin.) I walk and swim several times a week, but I really should do some weight training to develop upper body strength.

Congratulations Kohana Kioni. I am thin and always have been but I feel that fatter people have some definite advantages over thin people. I have always been a fairly stressed person and have found that fatter people seem more relaxed and layed back.
Also, people with a bit of flesh around their bones can stay warm more easily and that is a distinct advantage for a nudist.
The biggest problem I have is not to keep the weight off but to keep my joints and muscles in shape. I am 64 and in the last five years I have found great difficulty in keeping physically fit so that I can do whatever physical activities I want without ending up with days or weeks of sore muscles and ligaments.

My wife and I have both lost weight this year also, and in the beginning it was due to a 1 page diet from her nutritionist and a couple extra things I thought of myself.
In 2 & 1/2 months we both lost 27 pounds! The diet was carbohydrates for breakfast like 1 piece of toast or one cup of cereal, some fruit like a banana or 1/2 cups of peaches, and a protein drink (don't pay alot, get it at Wal-M@rt).
Lunches were almost carb free and protein heavy with 3 or 4 onces of meat, a veggie and another protein drink. This is the formula for dinner also, and the protein drinks add up to 60 grams total per day. Dinner gets a veggie AND a fruit and we used major brand pork and beans with the sugar-loaded can juice rinsed off VERY successfully.
I heard beans and rice together are a 'complete protein' and easier to get used to / integrate than you might think at first.
We added avoiding ordinary store bread in favor of practically sugar free pita bread, NO carbonated soda and no candy or ice cream. We allowed ourselves one reward on weekends such as a donut, and I took to putting a teaspoon of honey in my morning coffee instead of sugar.
Really, anything with more than 4 grams of sugar in a serving should be avoided, and that is an easy rule to use! A single can of soda can really knock this diet off course and put you back into old ways far to easily!
It is much easier to accomplish if you have a partner to keep you on track, and also agree not to ATTACK each other for moments of weakness before starting any diet.
That's my two cents. Anyone with questions on this can please private message me unless you think the answer will benefit everyone.

Centauri4, your diet or routine is quite similar to what I did last fall and lost 15 lbs. Good for you and your wife. It doesn't matter how old a person is to change his or her life.

Centauri and Journeyman;
I will agree that what you have done is very different than for me. However, if it works for you, that is great.
I found Walter Willett's book "Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy" to be the best guide. It provided a lot of guidance on the importance of healthy fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.
Nudenwv;
I have found one advantage to being the sort of person who puts on weight. I have learned of people who developed problems with their arteries and diabetes from eating the wrong foods. Since they did not put on weight, they did not have a clue that they were hurting themselves.
I also have a couple of close friends that have a hard time keeping their weight up. They almost hate food. They eat so much they dread it.
Those of us who have bodies that provide visible signs when we do the wrong things may be the lucky ones.

You certainly did a great job. I certainly hope you manage to keep it off. If you have taken it off with the thought that it is for life and that the new eating and exercise regime is for life then it is relatively easy.
I took off 20kg three years ago and it remains off. I work out at the gym every second day and jog regularly.
The great bit about the jogging is that I only have to drive 5 mins to get into the Aussie bush where I can jog nude - the icing on the cake!

Thanks for the encouragement.
Yes I have made a commitment for life.
One of the best benefits is that the whole family has adjusted. I know that not only is it improving my health but theirs.
Whenever I consider lessening my commitment, I imagine having to face one of my six children and I strengthen again.
Besides that, at this point, my tastes have changed and I feel a lot better when I exercise. I would be uncomfortable going back to the unhealthy ways.

Don't you belive it -- as a former 260 pounder I can tell you that not all fat people handle strees any better than anyone else. Being fat can add another level of stress not to mention what it does to your self image. I remember how outraged I was when my Dr. refered to me as obese! I couldn't stand to look at myself in a mirror and yet I was outraged!!
Thanks to my wife and the south beach program I am down to 190-195 (she lost 30). Sixty years of bad eating habits are hard to overcome but it IS all about healthy eating habits - not dieting! I hate the word diet - when you eat right you don't deny your body anything - I prefer to call it "my program" (I've got about another 10-15 to go).
At 63 yrs young I know what you mean about aching joints -- my bones are older than I am. Hard physical work has always been my "exercise" - but I can't do what I used to any more - a degenerative hip has forced me into semi retirement and I'm wanting to develope a routine of REGULAR exercise to strengthen the muscles supporting these ole bones. I've come a long way (a year ago I could barely walk) but developing new habits at our age can be an uphill battle.
KUDOS TO YOU KOHANA!!
Ain't it great?!! You can rightly feel proud of your accomplishment! Bet you can't pass a mirror without feeling good about yourself!?
And it looks like your young enough to get alot of enjoyment out of that new body - not to mention the stress you've taken of your bones!
Congrats!!
