Hello, I currently live in Iowa. I am a single male and looking for a place to try nudism for the first time. If anyone can help that would be great. I know of a non-landed nudist club called Camelot but they only except couples. Either by boy/girl relatives or just a plain couple. Any ideas to I can experience social nudism that would be great.

Thanks,
Cosine

Hi,
I met a couple from Iowa at the Show Me Acres nudist resort in Stover Missouri, near the Lake of the Ozarks. Since there are no nudist resorts in Iowa, these Iowans crossed the state boarder south into Missouri to attend a nudist resort.

You might also consider going to Mazo Beach near Madison Wisconsin, or go to Lake O' The Woods resort in Valpariso in northwestern Indiana.
There are other resorts in southern Wisconsin but I have not been to them.

If it were me, I would stay away from the Blue Lake Resort in northwestern Illinois as they are not singles friendly.

Thanks usuallylurk and David77,

I will look into those and hopefully I can find a place to experience my first social nude experience. I just wish I could find a place to try this at. Maybe someone in Iowa will come up with a new nudist resort, or maybe I could. You will never know what the future brings. But by the sounds of it I will probably have to venture out of state.

Thanks for all your help,
Cosine

Cosine,
Now if you don't mind going further, go to my favorite nudist resort, Turtle Lake Resort in Union City Michigan, which is in south Michigan not far from the Indiana border.

On the aanr site you will find a resort called Blue Island. It's in the northwest corner of Illinois.

This is not correct. It is Blue Lake Resort, which is in northwest Illinois, as I have mentioned above, as "singles UNfriendly".
http://www.bluelakeresort.org/

Their stated policy regarding singles is as follows;

Q: I'm single and would really like to join. May I visit?

A: No, we have a quota for singles in order to maintain a male to female balance in the Park. There seems to be more single men wanting to try nudism than women. If we didn't use a quota system, it might make women, whether married or single, uncomfortable with the imbalance. Please write to the office at the P.O. Box and state your name, address, phone, email address, other parks you have visited [if any], and references from other nudists [if any] and a request to be added to our singles list. You'll be notified when an opening occurs. Please do not come to the park gate... we don't want you to have a wasted trip and you will be turned away.

Why not write -- or CALL -- anyway? One never knows what the reaction will be at the other end of the phone.

If you read between the lines on this "policy", with references, etc., draw your own judgement.

There is also a non-landed club in Iowa which claims to be active (from the TNS website). There are also clubs in Missouri and Minnesota that Cosine should contact.

We currently have a working couple from Keokuk coming down regularly, perhaps about every other weekend. They report it's a 3.5 to 5 hour drive, depending on traffic.
