Which resort on Orient Beach are you speaking of? If you're talking about Club Orient, it's possible that they are doing some renovations but the resort is still open just some of the amenities will be closed.

The only place that September is mentioned on the web site is on their "Room Rates (http://www.cluborient.com/ClubOrient/roomrates.php)" page. On it is a note that says, "* Resort closed September 2007, partial reopening Oct 1-14, 2007 - 10% discount offered."

We were there a few weeks ago. I think they are redoing the water purification system, which requires that they shut everything down for a few weeks. There was also a unit involved in a fire some time back, and I heard they would use that time to rebuild that unit as well.

In short, some routine maintenance that will go more easily if the resort isn't full of guests.
