Would anyone be interested in getting together for a group nude hike in or around death valley or the eastern sierra's?

I live quite too far away to participate but that would be a great idea except for several reasons. First is the sun exposure out there. Being so dry this would soak all the moisture out of your body fast. Maybe you know a better location where that is not a problem but for sure is how I see it.
The other is the heat. That is not the 'nicest' hiking weather this nation has to offer. Still it is a most pristine and great place to enjoy nature at its finest.
If it were a mixed group, say more than 4, then I'd be very interested. Approximately what date did you have in mind? I'd need several weeks notice, at least.
Best wishes.
If I lived closer, would gladly come along.
Freehiking is fun. Did some last week. It was cool at 9C, I think about 48F. But, I had waited a long time for the opportunity.

I hike the Sierra's here in Calif. all the time and the dry weather out here is no problem. Just be sure to put on some sun screen.
This fall the heat will not be a problem either. We have some of the best weather still ahead. Also the sun is dropping off at an angle now as the fall season comes on.
When I was stationed in Virginia at Fort Eustis, the high humidity was hard on this west coaster. I can deal better with the dry air.

I think there are some misconceptions here about how the sun and low humidity affect you. One day of nude hiking in low humidity isn't going to cause skin problems for anyone with normal skin. If someone does have an issue, just rub on some oil or lotion before starting out.
During midsummer we sometimes do have 100° or higher temps in the central valleys of California, but I've never seen it that hot higher up in the Sierra. Moreover, that would be in the summer. Fall is a wonderful time to hike with pleasantly warm but not excessively hot temps.
Garden and I did a 12 mile nude hike in the Sierra this past summer. It was hot enough that I was sweating freely, but still it was exceedingly comfortable hiking. Without clothes your body readily adjusts to keep you from overheating. Of course it's necessary to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated when you're hiking, but that's a standard precaution for any warm weather hiking. I just recently did a long hike in WV, and made sure that I drank plenty of water.

Well I work m-f and my boy has youth football games on sat so any sun. between now and oct. 7 would be best for me. Of course if we could get enough people to make it worth while I could probably take a day or two vacation. After Oct.7 our plant is going down for repair and I'll be working 21 days straight 12-16 hrs a day. maybe some of the INA crew could come and use it for a show? A textile friend sent me pics of a beautiful lake he hiked to from somewhere outside of Lonepine, ca I'll ask him today where the trail head is.

Clam and Nudenwv;
Do y'all want to do something similar in the east?
Perhaps a hike in western Virginia might be nice this time of year. If it is still open we could take a soak in the Jefferson Pools to sooth any muscles after the hike.

Garden, you lived in Va so you know how the heat gets here with the humidity. Was far worse in New England but the humic season was far shorter, but far worse.
I did live in Vegas for a bit and for sure the dry kept the heat from being so terrible. If out of the direct sun it was quite bearable, but I did drink lots of water. Had to! Either that or dry up like a dry sink sponge!

Back in your country I felt like a wet mop during the summer. The army feed us salt tablets so we could keep going and going and going.
Vegas in the summer is a bit much!!!! Up here in the north things are a lot better.

The most humid place I have lived in is Massachusetts. Have looked out the kitchen window to see a school of small mouth bass circiling over the front yard. Almost needed SCUBA gear to get to the driveway and a snorkel for the car engine !

from what I understand, simply being nude on state or fedral land isn't ileagal as long as noone complains and the complaint can't come from the officer. So far you Rone and I are the only ones that indicated we could go not looking too promising. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif

Was nude hiking this summer with friends at Cherry Lake on the north boundary of Yosemite national park. A young female ranger was coming up the trail toward us, we smiled said hi, she smiled said hi and that was that. The rangers do not care. You only have to cover up if a civilian were to ask you to.
I have also had a ranger tell me where a good skinny dipping place was.
