For all who have posted here on this question..
Perhaps a good way to get all those people who
enter the forum but don't participate, is for all
of you who debate via long drawn out articles..
to shorten things up.
I'm afraid we give them the impression that
unless you write long doctoral disertations on
this forum..you aren't contributing.
I've mentioned this problem before. We strongly
believe it's the paramount reason why we aren't
seeing more forum members make the jump from
reading...to writing!

as someone who has never even registered much less posted until now... I have some thoughts.
Bartamus is spot on. It gets really dull and boring to read these dissertation-length posts. Furthermore, it gets especially dull and boring when it's THE SAME PEOPLE in every argument every time. It's almost like there's a sort of debating society here. This debating society has moved on beyond beating dead horses and is now beating the stains on the ground where the dead horse used to be. I'm not going to name names, but you know who you are. You're turning people off. LET IT GO.
Also... a lot of things that come up here have really been discussed over, and over, and over, and over again before. It's impossible to get interested in yet another "what do I do if I get an erection?" thread, for instance. And the "I'm looking for nudists in (some place)" threads. Search the web, people! Find the places where all this stuff has been covered before.
I may or may not post again - it all depends on whether (a) the debating society can rein themselves in and allow someone else to take the floor, and (b) the next person on the floor brings up something that's really interesting to talk about. I'm working on (b). But I have no control over (a).

Welcome Mark,
I hope you stay and can get interested enough to contribute. We desperately need something new posted here.
I agree with you and Bart that one reason I post less is that it's gotten boring. The looooooong posts repeating the same things continually are tiresome.
I enjoy the joke posts very much. It helps to brighten one's day. Does everything have to be a debate? /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Perhaps we (any one registered or otherwise) can come up with some new catagory suggestions.

I don't mind reading long posts, provided that they are interesting, grammatically correct, & have at least some kind of point.
As far as members go, has anyone actually looked to see how many members there actually are right now? OVER FOUR THOUSAND. Do four thousand people post here? No. I would say that there's no more than 30 people who post on a regular basis. I would also venture to say that most of those four thousand people will never, ever post anything here. Most likely they joined, posted once or not at all, and just left, never to be seen again.
Is there a way to see just how long it's been since someone posted from the day they actually joined? I would think that it would be safe to delete old profiles if the person hasn't posted in at least six months. But of course, that's up to the administrators, not me.

Hi Dukhat:
There sure are a lot of people just reading the posts and never posting themselves.
Once a week when we do regular maintenance, I set up the system to delete users who have signed up over a year ago that have never posted. If they have posted, they stay in the system so people can read their profile. We have a very large database of posts (over two years) all searchable on-line. Wow, that is a lot of reading! I figure the old posts don't take up too much room on our server, so might a well leave them there for people to read and search through. I might manually delete people who haven't posted for over six months but then it doesn't hurt just to keep them in the system in case they come back. I am open to suggestions. Thanks!

Dukhat, I have seen statistics that indicate that only about 1% of subscribers to an email list post more than once to the list, so your numbers of 30 regulars for 4000 registered members seems about right.
A member poll is the easiest way for members to participate. The highest number of respondents that I can recall on a ClothesFree poll was 125 -- only 3%.
I don't mind the small percentages who post. I feel that I have the opportunity to influence the larger groups with my posts.

Hi,
My name is Trevor. My grandpa said I should wirte. I am 10 years old. My brother and me, mom and dad, and grandpa and grandma all live together. We never wear clothes around the house or in the back yard. I think it is cool. Grandpa says there are other boys my age that don't wear clothes too. He has me read Clothesfree.com but all I see is pictures of adults and they are boring. All the posts on the bulletin boards are from people 20 and older and they are boring.
Are there kids my age that are like my brother and me? We'd like to connect up and talk sometime. It is hard for me to believe that other boys are like me and my brother.
Grandpa and grandma want to take us to a beach where they don't wear clothes. We, my brother and me, think it is going to just be adults. Are there kids our age going to be there too or is it going to be boring by ourselves?
I read this exact same post in here once before. Apparently this boy didn't get the answer he was seeking. /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

It seems that the spelling (excluding one typographical error), the sentence structure and the punctuation are all too far advanced to be from a ten year old child!

Good observation David, I had the same feeling about that post.
Sort of does not feeel right.
Trevor1
03-25-2003, 06:55 AM
Kind of you're right. Grandpa homeschools me. That is why I am on the machine at 10:45 in the morning. He uses lots of ways to teach me good spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure. He says that I won't learn all that in public school. I think we still make some mistakes though. We use the Bible, newspapers, books from the library, and other things too.
I guess the reason you have seen something like this before, is because no one answered me the first time so grandpa says if at first you don't succeed, try try again.
I don't mean to be causing trouble. Sorry.
What I'm curious about is why is grandpa Trevor2 while his grandson is Trevor1? Shouldn't it be the other way around with the oldest one being #1? Trevor1 is supposed to be a twin aged 10.
If this is true and he is actually 10, then he does exceptionaly well with writing. In fact, he does much better than some of the adults who post here. This could even be Trevor2 pretending to be Trevor1.
As for your question, Trevor, (if you're who you claim to be) I'm too new to social nudism to be able to answer it since I haven't been to very many places, although I'll soon be 57. At the resort where I go there are very few kids of any age, and most of them are nude only when they're in the water. I NEVER wear clothes when I'm at the resort. I would NEVER wear them at all if I didn't have to do so. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Trevor1
03-25-2003, 09:33 AM
I don't know why Trevor1 and Trevor2, grandpa says it doesn't matter.
I write my e-mails cursive and grandpa corrects my writing. Then I type them. That is another lesson. Using the keyboard. It isn't easy. Right now, when grandpa corrects my writing there are lots of red marks. He says that if we keep working on it, there will be less and less red marks. Sometimes I don't think so.
My brother would rather play outside during recess. I like to play on the computer and e-mail.
I don't wear clothes anytime around the house. Only if we go to the store or out to eat. I was just wondering if there were other 10 year olds that didn't wear clothes around the house. Grandpa showed me the reject-shame.com and there are some kids in there. It helps me see that there are other kids that are like me.
Thank you for your information. I love my grandpa a lot.

You seem like a nice man and I like your picture.
Thank you for telling me about the resort you go to.
About Trevor1. Does anyone feel like they're sitting on a porch with banjo players?
nuDDe
nuDDe,
I'm not sure what that means. Trevor2 explained how he does so well with spelling and punctuation. His grandpa said he was going to have his grandsons write, but only one did. If this is another joke, I have no problem with playing along. What harm can it do?
Trevor, please realize that we've had a lot of jokesters get in here who post false claims, and we tend to be a little leery of people claiming to be children or teens. We usually find out that they're not what they claim. So people are careful not to believe everything they read.
I don't know if I mentioned that I'm a granddad of one girl and three boys. If your claims are true then you're fortunate to have someone to homeschool you. I've read that homeschooled children get a better education than those in regular schools. I hope someone answers your question satisfactorily.
I'm sure you would like to have others your age to be with if you went to a resort, assuming you really ARE only 10. There are some places where they have more children and teens than they do where I go. I like to ride my bicycle there in the nude since it's a large resort. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Hello Trevor and others,
I too see no harm in replying to the posts and questions. I would say that Grandpa is doing one heck of a good job with this boy. Hopefully this boy will not grow up with all the "stupid ideas" about the naked body. HERE HERE!!!
Trevor, my son, who is 8 years old and I have been to a number of beaches and rivers that are "nude" beaches. At times he has been the only kid there and at other times he has found new friends to play with there. At times he beats me to taking off his clothes and at other times he says that he does not want to. The way I look at it, whatever he feels comfortable doing at the time is fine.
So yes there are other kids that do not where clothes all the time and that is great. Just remember, there are times that clothes are OK to wear. Like in the snow. Hang in there and you sound like you are on the right track to a balanced life. GOOD JOB!!

I don't post to much. I do read the forum though.
I would like to ask, "When you add to or enhance this forum, could you please find a way to add a spell check?" Some of the typing and grammer leave alot to be desired. I find I skip these posts and move on to the next one. Sometimes people don't realize they made a typo.
"A Typo?" The spelling and punctuation in some of the posts are so atrocious that I find them impossible to read or understand, and I just skip over them. Some people never capitalize the letter "I" or the first letter of a sentence, or use periods or commas. I've seen apostophies used as a comma. These are more than "typos". These people have no grasp whatsoever of the English language. We've had children and teenagers in this forum who write far better than some of the adults.
I make typos, and sometimes I don't catch all of them when I proofread, but at least people CAN read what I write. If my education level was so poor that I couldn't spell or punctuate, didn't know how to use a dictionary, had no grasp of proper grammar, didn't know the difference between a comma and an apostrophy, din't know enough to put a capital letter on the beginning of a sentence, and didn't know enough to use a period, I would like to think that I would at least have enough sense not to waste my time and other people's by writing something no one can read. I apologize if this seems a little harsh, but why post something that can't be read or understood?
The last I heard there were about 10,000,000 adults in the USA who can't read or write, and there are many more who can't write at a level where others can read it. I had someone who had a Master's degree in psychology tell me that the average reading level of most adults is at the 5th grade level. Some of the adults in this forum can't write at that level. Many write very intelligently and put me to shame in their knowledge of current events.
Don't wonder why so many people don't post when you make them afraid to post by getting so mad about words that are misspelled and bad grammar. If you can't read it then skip it is all.
You aren't taking into consideration that some people that post here are from other countries and English may not be their first language.
People post to the best of their ability and this board can be so rough at times with complaints, rude remarks, even outright flames that it is a wonder new people post at all.

Jon-Marc,
Your heart must be the size of a watermellon! You are fine and right in not wanting to deal with bad grammer and mis-spelled words... read my post again... we just need to not discriminate.
We are good people here, you included!
I dont think the spellcheck thing would work...It could eliminate the character of our postings...I have a terrible time having to go back with spellcheck over my e-mails. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Suntied,
Was there something discriminatory about my statement about people who can't spell or punctuate to the point where what they write can be read and understood? How am I discriminating by saying I can't make heads nor tails out of a totally illegible post? I didn't mention any names, and I'm sure the ones who can't write sensably won't even know it's them to whom I'm referring. I think the point I'm trying to make is being totally missed here.
Anyway, since I'm apparently the only one besides krcNY who is bothered by such posts, from now on I will just continue to ignore what I can't read and not say anything about them. If any of you can actually read and understand them, you're doing better than I am. It's like trying to read a foreign language that means nothing to me.
As for typos, I make them myself when I type too fast. I always proofread before I post it, but sometimes I miss something. I'm not talking about an occasional misspelled word which I have at times myself. I'm not talking about sometimes forgetting to capitalize the letter "i" when used by itself. I'm not talking about the occasional slip in punctuation that we all make. I'm talking about 200 or more words of totally illegible, unreadable nonsense that makes absolutely no sense. Others have made comments like "Can anyone read this?" Yet I'm the one who gets "hollered" at for saying something.
Fine--from now on I'll be so sweet in my posts, if I post anything else, that I'll make everyone sick with my sweetness. Then you can complain about that, or maybe I just won't say anything again. /infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

03-26-2003, 06:29 AM
Wow, touchy subject! /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I did not mean to start the thread going in this direction. I do alot of typing for my work at home, as well as other organizations that I am involved with. When I type to fast I too make errors. I have become accustomed to Word and IE pointing out my error and asking if I would like to fix it. I also rely heavily on the Thesaurus, dictionary and grammer in the computer to help me.
I was merely mentioning the Spell Check because I like to use it.
I understand some of the posts are a bit creative in the spelling department. Some people do not have a great vocabulary and a dictionary handy. I try not to hold that against anyone. I just thought that spell check would help with the normal (typical) typos.
Again I would like to welcome new members to join in and give us your opinion, this is what makes the forum interesting. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

My spell checker changes alot to a lot .
The Grammer will let me know when I have a run on sentence and give me examples on how to fix it.
I get thoughts in my head and just keep typing. I sometimes forget to end the sentence, and I just keep going with my thoughts.....and going....and going...etc. It just bothers me when I see mistakes on my own documents and posts.
I also understand there are people posting from all over the world here and the english language is one of the toughest learn. I just thought spell check would help on some of the more common words. If I am unsure of a word, I start typing and it will give me hints, then I click on the correct spelling. I would imagine that not being comfortable with the correct spelling may stop some people from posting. Some people, as we can see, have no problem with that!!

"I'm not talking about a "mistake or two". I'm talking about an entire post of unreadable gibberish."
I've not seen any that were that bad here.
I've seen a few that were that bad. Most of the people write very intelligently, and I have no difficulty reading what they post. However, when all the words run in together sentences make no sense. I make typos--who doesn't?--, but it's still readable and understandable. However, when someone just throws a bunch of words together with no punctuation or proper grammar or spelling, it doesn't make a logical sentence, I for one can't read it. Apparently, I'm the only one although others have said something at times.

it seems that friends made at nudist resorts are hard to keep track of. different people arrive and leave and then you might not get back together with them for a while (if ever). i hope you find some local friends to keep in touch with and maybe some of them enjoy nude recreation as well.
i also hope future posters do not hijack an innocent posting with the complaints of grammar and spelling (and i DO NOT use capitals at all if they can be avoided, my brother and i are just that way...)

Glad to have found the forums.

I see many new members, and more join everyday. I have also noticed that many have not posted. Some may not want to post, some may feel uncomfortable. Can we, some how welcome them, and invite them into our conversations?
this is the original posts for those who have forgotten and gone WAY off track. do you think these recent posts have anything to do with welcoming newbies to this site. i think not....
let's get back on to the subjects here folks..... /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi, I'm one of those new members, and thanks for the welcome - not that I've posted much. I'm one of those virtual - home - closet - wannabe nudists, without much opportunity, for a variety of reasons. However - I did make it to a couple of places one weekend in AZ this February, and enjoyed two too-short afternoons in the sun at a hot spring, and a small resort. The Dreaded Events didn't happen, as most have indicated. The strangest and most uncomfortable part of the two afternoons was undressing in the parking lot at one place, it seemed so - unnatural! The greatest part - I did it!
Will I go back there and try other places - you bet, as long as the opportunity arises.
As to humour and jokes - I have been an 'unregistered guest' here for a long time, registered recently at your suggestion and welcome - sorry Greensunshine, it did take a while! I look at a couple of other BB's and keep coming back here because it is lighthearted as well as serious, and casual. Two years ago, reading the posts here then, no way would I have registered,no way would I have posted for fear of a tongue-lashing, no way would I have ventured to a resort or club. You all have taught me a great deal, and allowed me to deal with issues that could have been inhibiting. I believe most subjects can use some lighthearted humour, life is too important and short to be taken seriously all the time, but hijacking a thread with jokes can be frustrating. I do appreciate the newly-created joke threads, and I look forward to adding to them - my voices tell me I'll never catch up to GF and HW; but who would want to...
HW, I have been very encouraged by you - seeing you appear on the board, first as a nervous borrower of an id to your present confidence has been great for me, and congratulations to you too!
Jon-Marc, I have enjoyed reading your thoughtful and reflective posts, you and I have a number of features in our backgrounds in common. Keep on keeping on, and I look forward to reading more of your move and new home. All the best.
And to the admin/moderators - OK, this is too long already - thank you for what you do, here and with the whole INA site. You are probably doing more to promote naturisn than any other single site I have been to, and they are many!

Well spoken CalgaryMark! Listen to the voices, they will serve you well...
And welcome to the booby hatch (barelybob's words, not mine). /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
Glad we didn't scare you off. See floridavid, you were just being paranoid. Now watch out, your computer is tapped.....don't answer the phone...check under the car for bombs... /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
Welcome CalgaryMark,
I'm glad you've made the leap from visitor to member of our little group of interesting people, and that we didn't scare you off. I came close to leaving once or twice, but since I have no life at this time I need this forum. Maybe when I move to Georgia into Serendipity Park, I won't have so much need for this forum. There's at least one single lady I plan on getting to know there.

welcome mark, i'm glad we didn't scare you off as well. i assume that you are older, i am more concerned about scaring off the young newbies. i was not around several years ago, so i do not know about the tongue lashing and such
i'm not as serious as you might think, especially since i have hw and gf egging me on...
