View Full Version : Biking nude
There are many rail-trails in Iowa and many recreational bike clubs and events. Nearby is a 16 mile asphalt rail-trail that goes to two small towns. In the summer we love to ride down, have supper and ride back naked after dark. We do this with other couples and only coverup while going through the middle town. We stay naked at crossings but wait for cars to cross. We rarely see others after dark and never see kids more than a mile or two from town. Shorts are kept on the handlebars. Naked biking is very refreshing after a hot day. If you have not tried this you should.

I enjoy cycling nude, and have thought about using rail-trails, but haven't done anything about it yet. Your post encourages me to investigate further.
When you are cycling nude as couples, I'm sure that you are at less risk than one single, male nude would be.

May I suggest the Katy Trail for bicycling across the beautiful Ozarks of Missouri for over 200 miles through the wine country, under limestone bluffs along rivers, past some small villages with bed-and-breakfast lodging. The old unused Katy railroad tracks were removed and the state parks department converted it into a linear park that many bicycle enthusiasts and hikers dearly enjoy.

More can be found with the search words, Katy Trail.

I also enjoy riding nude! I only ride nude while doing some easy mountain bike trails. I don't want to try any real tough trails without any protection from falling!
I usually do a 7-10 mile ride 2-3 times a summer in western New York, while on vacation or on long weekends! I try not to upset anyone while N.A.B. (naked on bike), so if I see someone up the trail, I will stop and put on the shorts. The trail in NY that I ride crosses the road twice, and you even have to ride down a road to a natural gas well, for about 1/4 mile.
The thing I want to do is ride my jetski nude, except for the life jacket (don't want to break any laws you know)! I did it once, during a not so busy time during some cloudy weather, while no one was out.
Have fun!

Thanks David 77, The Katy trail is on our must do list and if you can suggest any sections that are more remote than others, please do. For those of you not used to rail-trials: one big advantage is the slope is usually not over 3 percent which make them very easy depending on your own speed. For most of the ones I visit you can hear cars comming, wait and not have to jump into the shorts. Most of our outings are in the evening with lights. In the Omaha area there is a weekly ride 10 miles to a restaurant were riders get a pitcher of Magaritas and 6 tacos for $11 and then ride back. They stop at a clearing halfway back and one guy gets out a battery powered blender and makes drinks. The ride gets over 100 riders and the hard-core, about the last 20 usually ride back naked. It is great fun. Good exercise and naked too.

It's so popular I can't imagine going nude there. I think it officially closes at dusk, because the bank down to the river is so steep as to be quite dangerous; there are places you could never climb back up if you fell down.

Maxx,
I am sorry to tell you that I do not know where are the more remote, less traveled areas of the Katy Trail, more suitable for nude bicycling. Probably the guide book and vidio advertised on the URL I previously supplied, would give you an idea as to their location. This guide book may possibly be gotten through your library. I have vacationed in the Missouri Ozarks very many times throughout my long lifetime but have not gotten to the Katy Trail, as so many of my acquaintances have. My painting group goes to the Katy Trail each year to paint the great scenery for a few days, staying at the same motel, so I will go with them, I hope.
Near the trail, near Jefferson City MO there is the Missouri Bare Bed and Breakfast Inn that caters to AANR and TNS nudists/naturists (by appointment only), which is nestled on the Missouri River bluffs. (The Katy Trail follows along the mighty Missouri river for the most part). They advertise in the AANR Bulletin each year. I have had several nice e-mail exchanges with them. Their URL is as follows;

They say that the spring and fall are the best times to travel this trail, as in the summer time, July, it gets up to an average of 85 degrees and humid in the daytime and 60 degrees at night. In the spring, the wooded landscape is loaded with blooming Dogwood and Redbud trees.
Many people, in May, like to attend the American-German Maifest at Herman MO (near the Katy Trail) and dance the polka and visit the nearby wineries and listen to the old German style band music.

I have mountain biked in the nude in variour remote mountain regions when I lived in San Diego. But as someone mentioned, try to keep it mellow, because a crash could cause severe gravel rash.
As for the naked Jet Ski Pilot, go to Lake Havasu in March for Spring Break. I was there last year for Spring Break and we Jet Skiied naked all week long on the river. Need lots of sunscreen...
