Homelessness

I work with the homeless and poor. About 12 years ago the orginazation I work for decided to attach homelessness in addition to helping the homeless. They set up an addiction treatment program. The requirements for adimission to the program are that a person be homeless and have no income. The people we treat have been business owner, skilled wolders, West Point grads, newspaper editors, scientists and computer enginners. They were all laid low by addiction. This is not a "will power" issue but a disorder that has a physiological basis.

We are limited in the number we can help due to funding and space considerations.

There are many factors in homelessness and each needs a differnt approach to resolve. Maybe some day.....

Thanks for the excellent post. Many people are ill informed as to the makeup up the homeless and the reason for it.

I have said before and will reiterate, there is something wrong with any society that has homeless and hungry and does nothing to solve the problem.
