It sounds like a bunch of people who would be going to the TSSC swim are going to be at Penn Sylvan that day, including me. I like Penn Sylvan better for numerous reasons (I don't mean to be unkind to TSSC- they work hard to make a nice swim.) For me, Penn Sylvan is much closer and there are more women.

From my standpoint, Penn Sylvan has a better gender balance, a smaller group of people, and more 'normal' people. Each time I go I make new friends and enjoy getting to know a few people. In contrast, the TSSC swims are mostly men (75-90%, from what I've seen) and the group is too large to really get to know people. While many people love the TSSC swims, I just don't think they're for me. If you ask around you'll find many regulars from those swims.

Melissa,
When I lived in south Jersey, I enjoyed nothing better than spending a Saturday in Manhattan and cruising on over to TSSC's swim social in Paramus. A couple of years ago, couples and families with kids slightly outnumbered the single guys (just a rough estimate on my part). I even met a nice single gal or two. I agree that the numbers are really big, but in the steam room, hot tub and sauna, it was more intimate and I met people more easily. It was also easier to meet people when we sat down for snacks and sodas in the lounge upstairs.

Still, if I had known about Penn Sylvan, I would have gone to that too. Philly is of course, closer to south Jersey than Paramus and sounds like a great event as you describe it.

I have nothing against TSSC or the TSSC swims- many people really enjoy them. My personal preference, however, is a smaller group of people with a bit more of a gender balance as that's what makes me feel more comfortable. It sounds like the swims have changed a lot to more singles since you were there, which many people enjoy as few places seem open to having singles (esp. men) join in. I'm glad there is such a warm and accepting environment where everyone is invited to enjoy nudism.
