http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif Today is the shortest day and tomorrow is the 1st. day of spring, far as I'm concerned! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif
Tomorrow will be brighter for approximately 2 minutes longer than today. ( figuratively, since they're calling for rain! ) Hot weather is just around the corner. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

Got to love an optimist!

Living here in the north though, we do welcome Dec 21. Our days are pretty short right now with four hours of sunrise followed by four hours of sunset. The sun barely gets above the horizon this time of year. In a month it will be noticably longer days and the sun will be higher in the sky again.

Of course we can still anticipate some -30C temps!

Personally I always count Jan 1 as the first day of Spring. By then the trees all have leaf buds on them, and the camellias are in bloom. Many years--not always--the coldest weather or winter is already behind us by January 1.

Winter -- what winter??? Today should be 79 and sunny here. Hope to go to Haulover next week. Ahhhh, Southwest Florida! Ya gotta luv it.

I personally don't feel that the weather is acceptable in the St. Louis area until about March 20.
The nudist resorts in the mid-west mostly do not fully open again until Memorial Day, the end of May.

I just love your optimism. However that's just the way I feel about it, I've actually been looking forward to Dec.21st as a sort of milestone heading towards warm, dry, sunny days again. It's going to be a while yet though, freezing fog is on the cards over here just now.

I am always for warmer weather. I'll drink (coffee) to that right now. Cheers.

Yep, just around the corner! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif

Of course, the 'first day' of spring is 53F degrees and rainy but who cares, warmer days are beginning!

don't mean to be a spoil sport tinner, but the winter solstice is the begining of winter not spring.

sorry

Tinner, I seemed to have missed your "as far as I'm concerned" comment.

sorry again

i always wait until it's march before i start getting excited about warmer weather. as garrison keillor said, "nobody's happy in february."

my least favorite part of winter, though, is short daylight. so, yes, we're on the upward swing in that regard. but, as for temperatures, i'm waiting until march.

Hey Baron... No need to be sorry.. I think it's true that even with colder weather foracast, the the brighter, longer days, SEEM to lift many a person's spirit at this time.
In Va., with our moderate temp, we are looking at no more than 13 potentially bad weeks of weather. And they're never consecutive! Each week that goes by, we mentally say 12 to go,etc.
Temp now is about 68. A great start to 'spring'. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

Even though it will still be a few months before it's warm enough to get naked outdoors again once we get past the winter solstice I feel a great anticipation for that first day of naked bliss. Now I can start planning day trips and nude hikes in the woods. If anyone is wanting company on a hike I'd be happy to join you.

Cheers.

Where are our OZ friends in this thread? Sulking? http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

We must thank them for kicking ol' Sol back up our way! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">...once we get past the winter solstice I feel a great anticipation for that first day of naked bliss. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Me too! So I spent all day naked on the 21st. Then, on the 22nd, I spent all day naked. Indoors and out, both days. HAHAHAHAHA! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/tongue.gif But not the 23rd, or today. It rained all day, and now it's only 50 and windy... http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sad3.gif
