About an hour drive from where you are staying is Little Beach, one of the best clothing optional beaches. I stayed in Kaanapali this summer and went to Little Beach. Go early in the morning since the winds can get quite strong some afternoons. You can get some info at http://www.littlebeachmaui.com/
It is a great beach and it is easy to get to. I am not aware of any place to get naked on the Kapalua side of the island.

If you go to Hana, there's a wonderful beach that is often used nude. Ask at the General Store for directions to Red Sand Beach. They'll give you a map. You have to hike a little, but it's arguably the most dramatically beautiful beach I've ever seen.

I don't think these responses have helped you much. I too would love to know if there are any areas near Kapalua. Kapalua is at the far northwest part of the island. Hana is at the far southeast part of the island. Hours away. Little beach is at the far southwest part of the island - at least an hour or two away.
There must be some bread & breakfast resorts on Maui that could give you better info.

If there's any place for nude swimming and sunning around Kapalua I've never heard of it, nor have I been able to find it on the web.
On the other hand he's actually staying in the Kaanapali area, which is not so far north. Little Beach is one of the premier c/o beaches in the world, and can be reached from Kaanapali in well under an hour.
As you say, Hana is hours to the south. It's one of the world's great scenic drives, and one taken by many island visitors. My reply said only "If you go to Hana...."
There aren't many places on any of the islands where one can swim nude without fear of either the law (it's illegal to be nude in public anywhere in HI) or harrassment by nearby property owners. So how is it not helpful when this forum points to two outstanding opportunities that ARE available when there are probably none in the area he first asked about?

The Maui sunclub is probably the best place to start. There is a travel agent in BC that specializes in nudist spots, and that is the one she told me about on Maui. Also there is Hanging Loose on Hawaii. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

The Maui Sun Club is a retreat (hotel). He said he staying at a hotel in the Kapalua area. He doesn't need / can't use another hotel. He needs a beach/cove, etc. One of the highest rated nude beaches is Little Beach in Makena. An hour or less from where he is staying. It is next to a textile beach (Big Beach) that has restrooms and a parking lot. It is a short walk from Big Beach to Little Beach. Try Little Beach, you will like it.
