Does anyone have any information to share with us about sunshine gardens? The web site looks like a really nice place. My husband and I would like to spend a week in August nude and we are interested in hearing from people about this resort. We have been to a few resorts, for example, Sunray Hills, Turtle Lake, Avatan, Sunny Haven, Blue Lake, and we enjoy finding new AANR places to visit.

I am surprised to see that you may not have gone to Lake O' The Woods in Valpariso Indiana, not far from Chicago. It is a pleasant nudist resort.

That's weird...
The other post next to this one is discussing religion, particularily Seventh-Day Adventist religion and how it pertains to opinions on nudism....
Battle Creek, as it turns out, is the historical root of the Seventh-day Adventist church. It is the location of where that particular movement took form. And who knew there was also a nudist resort not far from where Henry Kellog (famous Adventist) first made his grain based cereals based on Adventists message of eating well and living healthy.
I doubt you'll find any conflict from the local adventist churches....we just aren't the warring kind.

Hey Funnaked, I'm sorry to come to this so late but I may have some info for you. I say "may have" because my info is about 15 years old.
For the past 15yrs I've lived in South Florida, but I'm originally from Chicago, and I used to go to Sunshine Gardens. I loved it.
The grounds were well kept, with running trails through the surrounding woods and hills. And the pond, on hot summer days was a blast. At the time, what I loved most about the place was the fact that there were so many kids there. I used to take my 2 daughters with me for a 'couple of years. They were in the pre and early teen age years, and the other kids and teens made them feel right at home.
Don Deakins was the manager there when I went, but has since moved on. So I dont know what the atmosphere is like now. But I'd like to visit again if I could. I had some good times.
I hope this helps.
Henry

It has been three of four years since I have been to Lake O' The Woods. It is a menbers owned resort and may be a little clannish but overall friendly. A lot of people from Chicago attend since it is not very far from Chicago. The club house is not huge but adeguate, and has a community kitchen. The pool is not large but adequate and much used. The resort is in the "center" of town and only a few blocks away from Wal Mart. However, when you are in the resort you feel like you are out in a rural area as the resort is totally cut off from the town by much trees and vegetation. The resort's lake and abundent trees and vegetatiion makes the resort very naturally beautiful.
Two times I rented a house on the premises thru the resort, as they have no lodge. Another time I set up a tent one weekend and I was about the only one tenting. There were hardly any RVs present, as appartently persons either commute for the day and don't need a camper/RV or else are persons who are members who live on the premises.
They have vollyball and tennis courts off to the side, but I have not seen them used very often and they looked deserted. They have nice communal dinners outdoors. They have dances in the clubhouse sometimes. Most persons use the pool instead of the beautiful lake. You can row on the lake. They have beautiful walking trails on various levels. They have a rather large number of persons attending on weekends.
