For the benefit of those in the US you might have added two more questions to the poll:
1. What is hocky?
2. Who cares?
There hasn't even been hocky for a while. It's another example of a sport wounded—-possibly even killed; time will tell on that--by sheer greed. It's been just another sport where fans have no voice at the table.

If you don't care about hockey, then why are you trolling in a hockey post?
As for the new rules... I like the idea of smaller pads for goalies, but I dislike pretty much all the other rules. I think Bettman is trying to make hockey a high scoring game. I don't like Bettman, I think he's ruining hockey and the NHL.

If no one cared, then why have all the games played so far been nearly sold out? When baseball went through this, it took years for the "fans" to come back. Hockey may not be your sport. Fine. Don't watch it. But hockey fans are much more dedicated to their sport than most. The truth is, hockey is back better than before.
For us Americans, it's an aquired taste. Once you actually go to a game, take the time to learn the rules and learn how to follow the game, you'll be a fan too. If not, no loss to hockey.
The ONLY problem with the game is: It's difficult to play nude. Especially goaltending!

I haven't seen enough games this year to be able to make an educated decision on the new rules.
As for adding new teams...there has been a freeze on new teams since the last expansion, and if you had done any research before posting, you would know that.
If you look at the salaries of hockey players, and compare them to salaries of other "professional" sports, such as football, basketball, and baseball, you will find that even the highest paid hockey player makes well under what even "middle" quality players make in the other sports.
Who do you always hear about in the media getting into legal trouble, or whining and crying when their coach or team owner bench them or try to reprimand them in some way? It ain't hockey players!
The fans of hockey DO have a voice in the NHL....and Bettman himself stated that without the e-mails that we fans submitted during the lockout, we might not have a hockey season this year either.
In the future, it would be advisable if you do some homework before making a rash statement trashing something that you are uneducated about.
Please...no one take this as a personal slam. It is not intended as such. Just a friendly word of advise.
Wasn't there, in a movie, a comment made about "sometimes you just have to drop your pants and slide on the ice" (or something like that)? http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hmmm, fairly fiesty thread for such an innocent question.
Me, I wouldn't know since it gets next to no exposure down under. If I did have a go at it though I seriously doubt it would be naked. Might end up with my butt pucked! tehe

I have noticed the game flows better with less stops due to 2 line pass and off side infractions. I've seen quite a few games, including the first shoot-out in NHL history...and the second. I have noticed more ties in regulation than I seem to remember from before. I think that may be due to the increased scoring opportunities the new rules allow. So far, I like it!

Personally, I don't really care for hockey, unless I happen to run across a game while channel surfing. It is a nice sport, but recently, it has been given a black eye from those who enjoy it the most, and that is the players. They got too greedy that caused the lockout.
But it is just not hockey. Some of the other sports are leaning that same direction. baseball, basketball, football. The amounts that these professinal players are making, are astronomical, dollar wise. It's the fans who suffer the most. They are required to pay more at the turn stiles, just so the games can continue.
It's not like the old days, when players (all sports) played for the love of the game. Today, they play more for the money and themselves. They don't really care for the fans as much as before. Huge salaries are turning the fans away from the stadiums (for the most part, though not entirely).
Sports are not the same anymore. But as for hockey, like I stated, I really don't care one way or another, but I will, on occasion, watch some of it. It is full of excitement with non-stop action. So, please don't get the impression I am knocking the game. I just don't have it on my "priority" list. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
You are right, NudeM.
The players in all sports have become way too selfish.
Ticket prices have become too expensive.
Some franchises like my beloved Montreal Expos have had to move.
In terms of the new NHL rules, I like them.
There is more offence now and once the players adjust to the new rules-there should be even more offence.
More offence should foster greater fan interest.

Rules or no rules, I'm just happy hockey is back. If there is an advantage, that would be the boosted offense. Hopefully, they'll be at least a half-dozen 50-goal scorers this season.
