View Full Version : To shave or not to shave? Not the same old issue!

To begin with this is not the old why should or shouldnt I shave topic. Personally I think that one has been beaten to a pulp.
My question is how many of us actually do shave? I just tend to wonder where the majority is. Just kind of wondering.
Have a nice day.

Except for my head, and moustache, I go completely hairless. Been shaving everything for about 5 years now, wouldn't have it any other way!

Other than a little trimming....I have been a hairy beast for most of the last 45 years...After acummulating many bottles of aftershave....Jade East, Oldspice, Wild Country, etc on every gift giving occassion as a teen I decided to grow a full beard and have had it ever since. My teenage daughters have never (other than pictures ) seen me without my beard...No more aftershave gifts!!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have been shaving for about 10 years now.
I leave my chest hair alone because my wife likes it.

Seriously, judging from the posts on some other threads, shaving may be getting more common. Since I added a beard last fall, I may be bucking the trend.

I shaved once for about three months, I have since regrown what GOD intend for us to have, I have noticed some grey. For those who do shave if it looks good and it feels good, do it I personnaly didn't like it.

I kind of go back and forth. I do a lot of trimming but I've never taken it all off. I like to have something there! The smooth feel is really nice though. Especially in the summer.

I tried completly smooth, I liked it. A lot of work though. The problem is when you start shaving where do you stop?

Lately I just keep it short and trim, I like that the best.

Well, from reading the postings, it seems that MOST of us do shave, including myself. My girlfriend likes it that way, and I do too. She also stays shaved as well.

Been a smoothie for many years. On my last Florida holiday I found that almost all of the men at the two beaches that I visited were smooth and about half of the women. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

However, to me the important thing is not who but why. Are we smoothies for ourselves or for others? I'm smooth when I go to the beach but I'm also smooth for the many months when I donot have the ability to be nude in public. It's how I feel, not the reactions of others.

Wonder where we fit in? We are partial smoothies. I know what some will say, why leave a little. Personal choice I quess.

But we are not completely smooth nor are we natural either. We are 80-90% smooth. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

As for me, a very lite trim but no smoothie for me. When I had my apendix taken out at 15 it was all shaved off and I hated how it felt growing back in. I think its great for those who do it, but that requires a lot of maintenance and I just don't have the time. A lot of my classmates who are into swimming and are on the swim team shave, some leave a narrow strip and others take it all off from head to toe. Seems like too much work for me and besides with my luck I would be covered in bandaides. Power to the smoothies...but for me, a little trim will do. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

When I was 18, every boy was proud of his beginning pubic and chest hair. It was proof positive of his manhood. But now many men trim or shave both. Why ? I can understand girls shaving their pubic hair, so as not to protrude from their bikinis, but why the men? As nudists, wouldn't it be more appropriate for girls to sun bathe without bikinis, and for young men to accept their body hair along with their genitals? Or has shaving pubic hair created the illusion that they have longer penises? TheBoyDavid

To answer the muppet's question, yes I shave.

To answer David's question, people shave for various reasons. And people shave different parts of their bodies. I shave my pubic and facial hair. Others shave their whole body, just the top of their head, etc. Women shave their legs and underarms in the US. Over in Europe, it is common to see women with underarm hair.

My basic reasoning for why people shave is this: where there is hair on the body, someone is going to want to shave it off.

I'm new to this board and this is my first post, so HI to everyone out there.

I'm one of those guys who has a very full, thick head of hair, almost no chest hair, and then from the waist down I'm hairy as a bear. I keep my pubic hair trimmed mostly because it can get so long that it tangles and also gets wrapped in my underwear (OW!). Sometimes, I shave some of it, sometimes I just trim it short...it just depends on my mood.

My wife, on the other hand, taught me how to wax her "bikini line" which allows me to craft her look any way I like. Lately, she's had me using Nair on her, which is even easier to use. I just leave a little strip of hair on her, which I find sexy and she doesn't mind, either. But when we go to the nude beach, she usually wears a thong bottom anyway.

I don't wish to be a prude, Maxx, but your comments concerning you and your wife, are inappropriate. I personally believe that members of the Forum should refrain from disclosing such personal "sexual" references. Find some other board to discuss such matters. Gr8cherie ;
From what I have seen your somewhere in the middle. Frome my limited time at nude beaches I have noticed most of the younger women (16 to 25)either don't have all that much to start with or shave enough so it won't stick out from a bikini.

I'm guessing that they shave more for the times they are wearing a bikini than for the times they arn't.

We frequent a nude beach in So. Cal and the resorts in Palm Springs. The younger generation has ventured to the smooth look for whatever reason, be it fad or fashion.

We have noticed that the older generation is leaning toward that smooth look also. Maybe for the older crowd its another way to stay young and young thinking. Us older generation people tend to do these things. I guess it keeps us just a step or two behind the younger crowd so they don't leave us too far behind. Many of us have changed our hair styles to slighly mirror the fashion trends of the times. So it would make sense for some now that shaving ones pubic hair completely or trimming it would follow those same fashion trend lines.

We are well trimmed, almost smooth for a few different reasons. Be it fad, fashion, personal reasons or to stay younger looking...but we will not spike our hair, die it green, blue, red. Nor will we wear bell bottom pants again...be there, done that!!!

Enjoy yourself and your nude lifestyle whatever your preference for shaving is. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Scrotum + underarms - shaved. It just feels cleaner to me. Been doing it for a few years. I'm 39 now. The rest of me is HAIRY - They don't call me MikeyBear for nothing! Next to male genitalia size, shaving has to be the most over discussed topic.

I keep everything trimmed somewhat short.

I wonder, why is shaving one of the biggest topics discussed here? I never thought about it until Mikeybear brought it up. I understand why people do or dont shave. But, why do we end up talking about it so much? Just wondering what peoples veiws on that are.

Genital region completly hairless, I started growing a small patch of pubes over the winter, but recently went bare again. I have been shaving for a dozen years now and I do not think I could ever sport a full bush again. Just feels so much cleaner.

I do not remove my body hair. I do not find body hair on myself or others offensive or anything negative. To me, leaving your normal body hair alone is a plus!

If you are one of those who shaves or otherwise grooms yourself, we can still be friends.

If everyone at a nudist resort suddenly decided to paint their toenails green, I would not have a problem with that either. I don't see why someone would bother shaving or painting their toes, but fashion never did make much sense to me.

I wouldn't be too quick to assume that this forum represents a perfect cross-section of nudist society. You can be pretty sure that only weird people post here. Present company excepted. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

03-22-2003, 12:36 PM
Since body hair is natural it shouldn't "offend" anyone. Of course, I find a woman whose body is shaved to be more sensual. However, like most things that's a matter of choice. There is no right or wrong answer to the question of whether or not to shave. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Sorry, florida-david. It was the only answer I could think of to Trailscout's question. Shaved or not doesn't matter. It's all a matter of choice. I used to shave and decided it was too much trouble keeping it shaved.

I guess everyone has their preferences, but I think this trend where guys have started shaving themselves down there is really weird and very unattractive as far as I'm concerned. As for my shaving habits, I try to keep a neat but full triangle down there which I always thought, and still think is normal for most women.

im with you allyson, i think all the shaving down their is wierd. but than again, why do women shave their legs and underarms and guys seem to be into shaving their chests also. i personally shave the hair on my neck where it meets my chest because it grows too long and tickles my chin when i read a book. i guess i'm wierd also...

Well as a 54 yr fella who hates clothes, I first tried shaving when I was 17, but went back to a full growth. But about 7 years ago, decided to try again and liked being a "smoothy!".
With the Gillette mach 3 and now the mach3Turbo, its so easy, just a couple of mins twice a week in the hot tub, followed by a liberal application of baby lotion.
I just like being tanned ALL over and also I believe absence of pubic hair decreases the attention on genitals, or does it, anyway I like it!
