boy does this hit home! i actually have tears flowing down my cheeks! we fall into this catagory since my retirement buy out. lost all benefits and can't afford benefits for both me and my wife. we have been turned down for state and federal aide as they say my income is too much. assests can be sold for money. this includes house, car, insurance policies...! today the treatment center i must go to told me i have to pay balance due on a hefty bill.for two years they took what i could give. if these treatments are missed the end result for me would be death or end up in diapers. please if anyone knows of some type of aide print it. if it weren't for the friends on this site and others - i would not be able to make it! didn't mean to pour it all out there. it hurts!!

Just a note: Michael Moore has given his blessing to copies of Sicko being shared on the internet.

It's a fine mess we've made.....

I'm going to go see it, looks like an interesting film. Plus...I hate insurance companies, they are greedy pigs.

Hey Doc, I know what you mean by that! They indeed are pigs and do very little to help you when you get in a jam. And I thought that was their job?

I'm glad to know that Michael Moore condones the film being downloaded on the Internet.

It's a brilliant piece of filmmaking, IMHO, as it's extremely informative, sad, funny, infuriating and certainly a call to action for the average American.

As a Canadian, I don't think myself or my family have ever taken our national medicare system for granted. One does feel less stressed knowing one won't be turned away at the hospital if something happens. My Father is now 88 years young, and I attribute his relative good health and longevity to the excellent health care he has received - for "free" - over the years.

I was surprised to learn through Moore's film that the British and French have even more benefits (very inexpensive prescription drugs, for example) than we (Canadians) do - they are truly blessed.
