Can anyone detect the joke in the current cartoon? Maybe I'm just being dense ...

It might have something to do with the polka-dots on the floor. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif

Maybe her house is her clothes?

Here is my take on the cartoon:

1. The Daughter (according to mama) has a mind of her own.

2. Mama's daughter runs around naked. That requires a "mind of your own" and proves mama's assessment is correct.

3. Daughter doesn't listen to anybody's advice when it comes to home decorating. The reason: she has a "mind of her own".

I think it is in reference to the hideously decorated/painted room. It's enough to give a home designer nightmares for years. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/shocked.gif

I don't know, but his nervousness combined with his nakedness and a hot cup of coffee is a disaster in the making.

Whew!! I wondered if I were the only one who doesn't "get it."<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">2. Mama's daughter runs around naked. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Nope... she's quite plainly sitting down naked.

Now, why is the guy so embarrassed? Maybe he's visiting for the very first time, and is perplexed by the bizarre decor, as Glenn has suggested.

I think I got it now, after studying it some more...

It's all those wildly clashing colors! Right?

Anyone who wants to put their armchair right in front of the front door should not be allowed to decorate their house http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/freak.gif

As much as I hate to say this, but could it be having a naked white male in the living room with a cup of coffee/tea? http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

Just my personal opinion. If so, then times have gone back somewhat.

I vote that it is the decorating. Oh wait, were we supposed to vote?

As a professional painter,I'd have to agree with the others and say the color choices and patterns of the whole room is ghastly. At least the towels match!

My guess is the polka dots, flowers, and the clashing colors not to mention the hideous color of the chairs.
