Just recently my wife agreed to go with me to a nude beach for the first time. I am looking for advise from those experienced in this and tips from the ladies would really be beneficial as I don't want her first time to be her last.

Where are you planning to go?

I encourage you to plan a day trip when the weather is cooperative (duh, lol) but also when there would be a more crowded atmosphere than say; a weekday.
Some may disagree but I found a lot of newbies enjoy the "blending in" aspect.
Parking etc., may be a little more troublesome but I think the impact of "Everyone else is,,noone is staring at me' is a refreshing concept for a first timer. Additionally, the more people there, the larger the diversity of age, body type, and activity.

Anyway, just a thought.

Go to a good place where she's less likley to be horrified by gawkers (i.e. stay away from a circus like Haulover). Don't get me wrong, Haulover is fine if you are an experienced nudist or used to the social barbarity of an urban area... but not a good bet for a good first impression. I would suggest a resort, rather than public beach where gawkers hang out. Also, let her ease into it at her own pace... if possible keeping the distance she prefers and getting nude gradually, as she feels comfortable enough to.

I want to second Big Thinker's idea about taking your wife to a resort for the first time. That will be a place that is intended for nudism, where everyone is nude & you don't have to worry about gawkers, etc. in a less-controlled area, such as a beach. You'll encounter more "seasoned" nudists at a resort who you can talk to & will probably make your wife feel more comfortable in the process.

Thanks all for the tips. I will probably take her to the beach though as she absolutely loves going to the beach and just finally decided to do it naked. I agree Tampa, I think taking her when there is a good crowd is the way to go. I plan to go on a Saturday which is the busiest day at this beach from what I have heard. We are both completely shaved and she is a bit concerned that she will be in the minority in that regard. I really don't care if I am or not. She also has rather prominent labia and somewhat concerned about that being a focal point...for some I guess. Anyway thanks again for the help everyone.

don't worry about the shaved part. i'm smooth and have noticed it's becoming more popular for males and females. you'll find if you stay clothed you're the one that sticks out. my wife has yet to join me in the nude experience. glad you both can enjoy it.

I've heard from far more people who think they need to be shaved smooth in order to 'fit in'.

Don't worry, being smooth puts her in the majority (unless Texas is far different from the Ohio). But either way nudists won't care.

Thanks again for the encouragement. I am going to let her read all of this when I return home and I think it will help her to be more relaxed. It will be several more weeks before we go as I am presently out of the country on buisness.

Have no concern about the shaved look. A recent poll on this forum suggested that there are more smoothies than not.

Regardless, I think you will both fit well in the expected crowd. If experiencing a gawker, move to a new spot surrounded by other like people enjoying the clothesfree experience.

You never have a second chance to make a first impression.

That's why I'd take her to a private resort or park. There is less of a chance of having a negative experience there.

I would agree that a clothing optional resort might be best for a 1st time experience, but if you go to the beach she might blend in better on the weekend. We had our share of gawkers with my wife on the beach with her 1st time.

Sounds good everyone, but in this case the main reason she has agreed to accompany me is her love of the beach and the ocean. I have discussed the issue of gawkers with her and she doesn't think it will really bother her unless they are very persistant and won't move along. I just told her if they hang around too long we will just cover up with a towel until they leave. she seems to think that will be a solution.

Might I also suggest finding a location on the beach near other couples? In my experience when you have others around there seems to be a collective sense of looking out for one another. It is also a good way to make friends if you bring along a frisbee or a football or bocce ball.

Excellent news! Take lots of activities, food, sun protection (umbrella perhaps?), reading material, etc.
If you wife loves the beach then I think she'll REALLY love it nude. It totally brings out the inner child in you to be able to be so free in such a natural environment.
Don't forget the sunglasses either. They offer a bit of protection from the fear of the wondering eye.....your wife will probably be nervous that she might stare at someone, the sunglasses will prevent that from being so noticable in case she does glance now and then. Being new to the nude scene, it takes some practice making eye contact but before long, it is second nature.
Find a nice group of people and set up your camp nearby. Don't be afraid to say hello. Be intune to people's reactions. The first little bit of conversation will usually let you know if they are there to be social or just as a couple.

Make sure you wife doesn't go in to comparisions with others. As long as she is happy with who she is, who cares what others think. I have found nudists to be the most accepting group on the beach. We come in all shapes, sizes and configurations! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

I don't think she will get into comparisons, she is actually very comfortable with her body and who she is. She is a very strong woman and I do love her for it. She has already bought a new umbrella and beach chairs in my absense which I see as a good sign that she really is interested. Hopefully there won't be any persistant idiots out that day.

Condor, when I met my fiance 19 months ago I told her I was a nudist. She told me she would join me at the nude beach and local nudist resorts but she would not take her ckothes off. Well guess what. Whenever we visit the beach or go fishing on my boat she is always naked before I am. She absolutey loves the nudist lifestyle and always wants to be naked. As far as being completely shaved, It's been my experience that no one cares. I've been completely shaved for years and my fiance now shaves her pubic area, it's not a big deal. We made it to the beach last weekend and it went GREAT!!! The wife had a wonderful time and was actually more relaxed about the whole thing than I was. We met several nice couples and just had a blast. Plan to go again this weekend if the weather cooperates.

I went to San Onofre with my girlfriend last weekend. I had been many times in the past but this was her first time. She surprised the heck out of me by stripping nude about a minute after I did. I took her past the Camp Pendelton fence where it is less crowded and she mentioned that made her more comfortable getting nude for the first time. The only negative was an old guy who was fully dressed with no towel who sat down about 15 feet from us even though there was plenty of open beach. He gawked for about 30 minutes before finally leaving. I thought she might cover up but she actually dealt with it very well. Other than that we had an awesome time and look forward to going again.

Next time, don't hesitate to go up to the guy and say..."excuse me, this is my gf's first time here and you sitting so close is making her uncomfortable (even if she isn't), would you please give us some more space?"

This usually happens quite a bit at San O. It's a tactic I've used in the past and it's worked each time. Did you get to stay on that side of the fence line all day? The last two times we were there, the marines we chasing everyone north of the fence line and issued stern warnings not to go passed the fence line, even to walk the beach.

congrats on your GF first outing. As you can see on this thread, my wife and I just did ours. She surprised the heck out of me also. She was nude BEFORE I was. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, glad it went well just as ours did and don't worry about the gawkers, we had a few also. They weren't persistant though and moved on pretty quickly. My wife acted like it didn't even phase her. She was awesome.
