The other night I was outside at dusk. A cool, but not cold, winter wind was blowing gently. The glowing blue sky was amazaing against the snowcovered mountains. It was a beautiful sight. I was once again reminded of how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place.
What other reminders do people have about how fortunate we all are?

Warm smiles from my grandchildren;
Wet kisses from my dogs;
Crickets and tree frogs singing throughout the night;
Rustling leaves in the breeze;
The sound of a babbling brook;
The sound of laughter;
The quiet anticapation in the moment of silence between the dawn and the day;
The solace in the still as dusk becomes night;
These are things that I am thankful for.

My puppies. Sometimes I freak when they track mud into the house but I know that when they're gone I'm going to wish I had all those cute little paw prints all over the place again.

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Wondering in awe at a beautiful sunset.
Hiking in the open space wheter mountains, plains, or just a woods.
Waking up to the gentle reminder the cat needs fed and the dog needs out.
Laughter among friends.[/list]
Those are things reminding me how fortunate I am.

Waking up to feel that special someone next to you.
Knowing I have people who love me.
See the way my dog looks so damn happy to see me for the millionth time.

Dear Mr. Hooked.
There is no doubt that puppies have a good life. These two from "Lady`s" last litter in 2001 are certainly enjoying their meal break and not complaining.

Who can complain when I have visitors like these nightly in my backyard.
We all have wonderful things to remind us how good we have it. I, too, have numerous things I am thankful for and the list seems to grow each year......puppies, dogs, sunsets, sunrises, silence of night and day in the country; friends, family, and a job I love; a wonderfully modest home but all I need with all the comforts, a car that runs good, and nature all around me. Reading Thoreau for the zillionth time, Shelley almost as many times; I love nature most of all...it's beauty takes my breath away. And a good cup of coffee http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

This earth, this life. Both are most glorious and dangerous. There is little forgivness and much of the same. There is much to be joyful about and much to be grieviously disturbed about. But to be here at all is an amazing, a gift of chance beyond all lotteries.
Our job and purpose in life here is not at all well defined. We can only plod forward where time will take us far beyond our control anyway. Along this precipiteous route are all the tools we need. We are not taught what these tools look like, or how they are to be used. Yet we plod forward anyway doing the best we can taking the good with the bad.
When we work hard to overcome the less than good we find great treasures that stay with us for ever. When we share those treasures our own soul flowers.
A soul well flowered out is the most precious thing to witness. That is what I treasure most.
