View Full Version : Shaving: An issue for men only ?

There's lots of post on the site concenring pubic shaving and nealry all of it is posted by men (as most posters are men anyway) and (not surprisingly) relates to men.

I wonder if pubic shaving is just not an issue for women - hairiness not being seen as an attractive feature on the fairer sex so a trim down there can never go amiss, whereas for men body hair can be attractive so men have to be more careful in deciding whether or not so shave and if so decide where and how much ?

Is that how you see it? That is going to vary from person to person. It is a bigger issue for men because men worry more about it. Some men might not think it so "manly" to shave it off and many worry that someone will think they are wierd for doing it. Women have already been shaving this area to some extent because it is necessary when you wear swimsuits and shaving it all is more of a natural progression. It is socially more acceptable for women to do things to their bodies for fashion's sake.

Personally, I keep my pubes totally intact. I very much like the look of the natural look. But that's my way. Woman shave because it's, let's call it, body jewelry (ie diamond shape, heart shape, etc). I've found that some GUYS shave to make their parts appear bigger, thus one for the ego. Other shave because of comfort, whether it be ego or physical.

I never really gave personal shaving much thought until a few years ago. To me it was just something you saw in the porno movies. Then I moved to the Austin area and visited Hippie Hollow and a couple of the nearby nudist resorts. I noticed right away that many people, men and women, shaved to various degrees. I assumed it was because, as a nudist, you really didn't have many options to make yourself stand out. My curiosity got the best of me and one afternoon when I was trimming my moustache, I thought I'd trim my pubes, just for a lark. That turned into one of those things that gets out of control when you don't really have a plan, so I wound up trimming off all my pubic hair. To say my wife was suprised would be an understatement, however, she liked it. So I began keeping it shaved since then, a couple of years now. Why? I guess it makes me feel different (like being a nudist isn't enough!). I like the way it feels and looks on myself. It's a matter of personal choice, like your hairstyle, and it grows back if you don't like it.

Shaving for men Only, I don't think so...

As a female who regularly speaks my peace on this BB, I would like to add my comments on shaving /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I do it for several reasons, but mostly because, as a female, I know that hair is a breeding ground for some funky smells, I find my trusty razor is great for this keeping this problem more in check /infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

I also find that when I am involved with someone, it makes our intimant times more enjoyable together...sorry, but I never have been into grazing on hair while enjoying the delights of other thoughts and acts at during the moment.

I haven't shaved in a while myself,
but I recently just resumed shaving my pubic hair.

For me,
it's mostly personal reasons that make me
decide if I want to shave or not.
I like the look and the feel of being shaven,
but I also like having the pubes as well.

Either way, I know that I will feel comfortable with myself and my body.
So, it doesn't really matter to me what people think of it.

Gotta agree with greensunshine here.

For my wife and I the shaving thing was a personal and private thing we share. Just so happens that we are nudists and we are not going to cover our genitals when we practice our lifestyle with other nudists, so our groomed privates are seen.

In the beginning of practicing social nudism, my wife was really self conscious about being seen without or very little pubic hair. She felt she would be look at differently and not as a true nudist/naturist because she had me shave her.

We were surprise to see so many men and women in the nudists lifestyle that shave their pubic hair off. Now my wife enjoys being shaved regularly.

Im looking forward to possibly shaving but, I am not looking forward to asking my non-nudist wife if she'd be ok with it first.

As a visitor to a nude beach, as well as nudist resorts and clubs, among nudists many more men are going smooth. I too have progressed to fully smooth (started with trimming short to reduce a moisture induced irritation, on the advise of my dermatologist). I call it, "shaved from nose to toes". Based on my observations, there is no "issue" within this group. For unwitting textiles, well that is most likely different.

Shaving or triming is a personal issue. I prefer going smooth , but I will say that its hard keeping up . Shaving is like working out or puting make up on. If it makes you feel good about yourself then it does not matter what other people might think.

I prefer trimmed and neat but natural. Besides a little fur gives one some privacy.

My shaving was an evolutionary thing. I first started clipping the hairs on my balls and above my penis a little shorter, to keep them from catching underneath my foreskin. It was easier to shave the hair on the testicular sac, as clipping would sometimes catch some of the wrinkled skin there.

Tried shaving above the penis a number of times and kept getting those horrible red bumps. Finally, I did it and they didn't happen. Since then, I shave there every day, all the way back to the anus. Gotta keep it shaved daily; else it gets stubby.

Only a Mach 3 does it without cutting above the penis.

I prefer the look of females unshaved but maybe a a little clipped. They look horribly animalistic if not clipped some.

As my name implies I live in the desert and it gets hot in the summer months causing you to sweat a lot. After going to a nudist resort quite a bit last summer and saw many men and women that were smooth I decided to try it myuself. It is definitely cooler having the balls shaved smooth and you don't sweat nearly as much either. I do like the feel of it and don't itch and have to adjudt clothing like I use to either. I love the look of a smooth woman but I must admit I often wonder what color of pubic hair she had. I have a lady friend that is a natural redhead and she has the most lush, beautiful, patch of red pubic hair I have ever seen. It really is a turn on to see it...I guess that makes me "normal"...whatever that is!! Ha ha. To see her with it all shaved off would be kinda sad although she would still be beautiful without it. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Just joined the forum. I have been shaving from the neck down for several years. Both my wife and I love the look and feel. I doubt anyone who has tried shaving for a while and gets used to it will ever want to go back to being hairy.

If you go to any nude beach in Florida, that question will answer itself. There are more and more shaved out there everyday. I am one of them, and have been for six years now.

Wether it is right for you is something no one but you can answer. The first time I shaved I knew I would never grow back again. The feeling is undiscribable to me, and my wife thought so too.

Go to domai.com and look at his pics there. I'd say that 75% of his models are smoothies. You see it more and more now.

I'm a 59 yr old male smoothie. I"ve been smooth for about 2 yrs. My wife and I like the look and feel. Maybe I should mention that she is a smoothie too.
Last year we were at a resort in SW PA. There must have been 1500 nudes there. I noticed that about 99% of the women were at least trimmed and a great majority were completely smooth. And I was surprised that a large majority of the men were shaved also. If this is the fashion...then I love it. I think a shaved women is much more beautiful than one with a thick bush.

Shaving is not natural, period.

If I wanted to look like a ten year old or liked my wife to look like a ten year old maybe (nah).
The last time I had the "hots" for a ten year old girl I was about eight years old my self.

Once again this begs the question of , If shaving is not natural should we also never shave our faces, legs, armpits, etc.? Of course it isn't natural, but it is accepted. We even expect that people will keep their hair/beards at least trimmed. Why should we have different standards for the pubic regions?

Well, I myself think that shaving is a personal preference. Just like how people either keep beards & moustaches or not...or how people either keep the hair on their head long, short or bald.

For me, I like to keep my pubes short, tidy & well-trimmed. Its just common sense to me, since I trim my moustache & goatie to have a tidy appearance...and bcos Im nude for much of the time, I might as well keep it neat & tidy down there & on other parts of my body.

And mind you...not only is it good for personal hygiene...Ive received many compliments for looking nice & tidy...especially from the ladies here...heheh http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

I don't just want to look like one, I want to be one again. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/cool4.gif Can I find a razor that does that?

And hey, I already have a 10-year-old "fiancee". Hey, she asked me to marry her two years ago. How could I say no? Of course we have to wait a few more years. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

I don't shave my face, legs, armpits, etc., never have shaved the legs or armpits and left off shaving the face 26 years ago when I got out of the corps and could not get it shaved by the barber.
I have never shaved my face myself, I wore a moustache beginning age 11 until the beard came in at age 14 then I wore both, until the corps, and I've worn both since.
I might, and I repeat, I might trim the beard and moustache every other third blue moon.

There are a number of women who shave their legs, pits, etc. as well as men. Just because you don't doesn't mean it isn't natural. It may not be natural to you, but is to the people who do shave various parts of their bodies. If it isn't natural for you, why do you even trim?

Surgery isn't natural, neither are blood transfusions, driving a car, or a plethora of activities that we have become accustumed to.

If you don't believe something is natural, fine, but you come off sounding very judgemental by not qualifying your statement as being your belief/opinion and sound is if you are condemming others as being unnatural.

Shave chest, stomach, trim pubic hair real short and shave balls. Just much cooler in summer and I have found too that most are trimmed or shaved at nude resorts and nude beaches. Haulover in Maimi most are shaved smooth.

People who shave do not look like 10 year old children. They look like adults who shave. I wasn't confused, perhaps you mean this for another poster.

Bob, I had to want for my blond hair to turn to the deep brown that it did at 14 to be able to see the beard.

Even the moustache had blond/white ends at the edge of the lips so for years I looked like I had one of those "just under the nose" moustaches made famous by some dude in Germany a couple of years afore my arrival on this planet.

Now both are white and get whiter during the winter.
