I went to the movies last weekend, to see <span class="ev_code_RED">War of the Worlds</span> starring film starr Tom Cruise and directed by Steven Spielberg. I personally thought that it was a pretty good movie, especially on the special effect, but there was something in this movie that caught my attention.
<span class="ev_code_RED">Why do we depict aliens</span> (<span class="ev_code_RED">extraterrestrials</span>) <span class="ev_code_RED">in the nude</span>?
If there are extraterrestrials out there somewhere, I wonder if their society will be so advance then our own, where they do not need clothing. A society of naturist, so to speak?
Just a thought,

Well a rule in SciFi movies and tv seems to be that the more exotic and non-human looking an alien is, the less clothing it requires http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I haven't seen the new War of The Worlds movie yet so I don't know what the aliens look like.
But assuming aliens do exist in reality (and I personally believe that they do), they are most likely nothing like us physically/physiologically and may have never heard of, developed or needed everyday clothing at all.

Well, I can not remember when, but I do remember the space satellite <span class="ev_code_RED">Pioneer</span> that was sent up in space, with a plaque that describe humans as the intelligence one's of this planet. It showed a depiction of a man and a woman in the nude, to represent our species.
I wonder what aliens would think, if they found that Pioneer satellite with the plaque and come to visit, to find out that our intelligent species of humans are not at one with our bodies and also different from our depiction from the Pioneer plaque.
Just somthing to think about?

On Stargate SG1 there is a race of tiny grey aliens with big heads where none of them wear clothes. Of course, they don't seem to have genitals either. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, I like that show too and you are right, the alien you are talking about, does not have any genitals showing. But the fact of the matter, it's still a nude alien, on the show of <span class="ev_code_RED">Stargate SG1</span>. I think the name of the alien race, is <span class="ev_code_GREEN">Asgard</span> aliens.

Yes, the Asgard reproduce by cloning only, and have lost the ability to sexually reproduce.
I think its the censors that only allow alien nudity if the aliens don't look human.

For a while there I only enjoyed Meg Ryan-type chick flicks. You know, the kind that if you don't have at least one good cry, it wasn't any good. That's over now.
Many of the new movies are so action-packed, it is hard to understand how they make these things. The seamless blending of computer-generated action and characters with real actors is incredible. Nobody seems to do it better than Spielberg and having Tom Cruise as the leading character, you can not have a better combination.
War of the Worlds was far more intense than I thought it would be. In typical Spielberg form, you don't have to wait very long to get into the "meat" of the film. Now, I must admit, I went into the theatre having had a few drinks so the action may not have been as loud and surreal as it appeared, but the movie was incredible. A classic.
As far as naked aliens are concerned.. what do you expect from an advanced race? I wish our race was so advanced! We have come to expect aliens to be naked no differently than dogs or cats! If you remember in Men In Black with Will Smith, the aliens had to turn themselves into humans to integrate into society and that meant putting clothes on. Then again the movie was rated PG 13.
Don't miss this movie if you are a science fiction fan..or a Spielberg fan..or a Cruise fan..or a naked alien fan. You won't be disappointed.

Movie makers always depict aliens as reptile skinned beings however intelligent they may be. This makes them sub servient to our form and structure making us superior. Usually also they have aliens perfoming horrid acts upon man and other life displaying animalistic pack attack. Yet that brings hype and attention getting from the audiance which may be quite different from the actual aliens that are out there. They may not look like us at all, but they most likely would have equal or better morals and social structure as well as intelect.
We are ignorant, and show that in what we play in the movies. Would be nice to finally make contact with other life forms to put our preception on a real course, providing we don't attack them in pack animal style ourselves.

I agree with all you have said, but this is not the first time that Spielberg directed a movie about alien, that happen to be nude. The first one was <span class="ev_code_BLUE">Close Encounters of the Third Kind</span> back in 1977 starring Richard Dreyfuss and the second was <span class="ev_code_BLUE">E.T.</span> (Exta-Terrestrial in 1982 starring Drew Barrymore. Both of these are classic science fiction movies.

Did you notice that the only thing left of the people were the clothes falling from the sky? Weird. The noise those machines made was cool. It was like a super loud, ultra deep ship horn. I want to get that sound as a ring tone for my cell phone. This movie is a must see in a theater, or at home if you have surround sound.

You right Evernude, they did sound like a "ultra deep ship horn". But since you saw this movie too, explain to me what did the "birds" have to do with the alien? Tom Cruise said, something about it in the movie, but that same loud noise from the alien machines, kept making that sound when he was talking.

Tom Cruise was telling the military to "look at the birds" beacuse they were landing on the alien craft meaning that the shields were down and then was the time to attack. It was difficult to hear with the horns blowing lol.

Well, it have to be more then that, because in the movie when Tom Cruise and his daugther was on the boat, trying cross the lake or some kind of body of water. His daugther saw the birds on the alien machines and that's before the alien shields were down. So it got to be more then that?

Anyone ever see Fire in the Sky, the true story of Travis Walden? Well, at one point he wakes up, I guess the aliens presumed he was dead, and he's floating around the space ship trying to get home and the aliens become aware of his stirring. So they go after him and they appear to be your typical "grey" alien with the big eyes, grey skin, naked, no genitals etc. But as they are struggling, Travis kicks one of them in the face. It turns out the alien does NOT have big black eyes. Actually they are all wearing identical helmets. They don't really have grey skin either, their skin is beige and they are wearing snug fitting grey space suits. So, afterall, maybe all these "nude" aliens are really just wearing "nude suits" to fool everyone. It just adds credence to my hypothesis that Alanis Morrisette is a space alien too!

The reason the crows were flocking around the tripod at the end of the movie is because they were attracted by the smell of dead or dying aliens inside. That's also what happened in the original H.G. Wells book. But in the movie, Tom Cruise did shout "no shields !" twice to the soldier.
Of course, in the original story, the aliens had no such shield, and one machine did get destroyed by the army in an ambush at one point. After that, whenever the aliens wanted to move in to an area, they flodded it first with a poisonous gaz that killed every living thing for miles around before moving in.

Anyone know of a audio tape of War of the Worlds? I heard it a while ago. It was read by Richard Burton and was a musical adaptation of the original story. I prefer books and book tapes to movies. I'd rather use my imagination.

I haven't seen Fire in the Sky, but I've read at least a couple books about alien encounters that purported to be true, and I tend to believe them. That would make a great topic in another (not related to nudism) forum, not to hijack this one (about fictional stories).

Thank - I'll try to get a copy. If you are into trivia, I remember when the original movie came out that all the sounds and special effects that were used were done for the first time. Astounding Science Fiction Magazine had a special article describing how the sounds and effects were created. The only one I remember was the sound of the Martian's weapons was a guitar chord played backward.

Hey, I saw it too and I thought that it was pretty good movie, but the fact of the matter is, it's not really what we think of aliens (<span class="ev_code_RED">extraterrestrials</span>), it's what they think of us. Please remember that the <span class="ev_code_RED">Pioneer</span> satellite is out there somewhere, with that plague with a picture of us, in the nude. So do they think we are you waring a "nude suit" too, ha ha ha hahaha!

By the way Hooked, I kind of like Alanis Morrisette, ever since she did that music video, where she is nude throughout the whole video. That was a cool video.

Well, who ever watch <span class="ev_code_GREEN">FARSCAPE</span> on the Sci-Fi Channel? I wonder if anybody still remember <span class="ev_code_BLUE">Zhaan</span>, she was the blue alien character, in some of the old episodes. The reason why I brought her up, is because she use to be the so call alien nudist on the living spacecraft, Moya.
The main character, commander John Crichton use to tell <span class="ev_code_BLUE">Zhaan</span> to alway put her clothes back on. <span class="ev_code_RED">If I was John</span>, <span class="ev_code_RED">I don't think I could tell her to do the samething</span>, <span class="ev_code_RED">because who am I to tell another alien culture how to dress</span>.
