Now that I have been "officially" retired for about a year now I am finding out what they have been telling me all my life is true ... I am busier now than ever.
Teaching and taking classes, running my "new" farm, still seeing private patients, helping at the butcher shop, updating my Blog, producing the Renaissance Faire, producing the Highland Games, playing with the grandkids, completing my next book before my publisher has a 'cow', organizing relief and aid efforts for domestic and foreign needs, organizing political efforts both locally and nationally, and to top it off I am thinking I want to open a "Sandwich/Newstand/Eclectic Items Shop" for the Mrs., to run (she says I am too busy to run it - I don't think so http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif ).
So much for leisure time.
How about the rest of you "retirees" out there ... what are you doing and do you find you are even busier then you were before you "retired"?

I always heard the same statement that Fuzzy Nuts made. Been retired for six years & I too don't know how I had time to work. I guess we just put off doing, repairing/updateing a lot of things.
Sure don't miss the place but I do miss some of the people. Some of us meet for breakfast every other month. Just set around & shoot the bull & tell lies. Good times though.

I might "retire" from my day job next winter. Mrs. USMC is ridng my *** like a 90-day slow pay to do it.
But, if I do, I'll continue writing, acting, and picking up the odd dime working as a community organizer and politcal activist. I had the odd notion last year that I might run for congress, but decided I'd rather wield power over one than be one.
But, it would be nice to spend more time with the dogs and working on my genealogy, and maybe trying to condition myself to compete in fencing at the seniors level.
My big brother said I'd like it, but I dunno, I started working at 14 in my step-dad's tavern, hauling kegs and cases around and running numbers for him on my bike. Ain't even really been out of the harness since--so, like the ones above, I doubt that time will weigh heavily on my hands.
Can't get real excited about the notion of Judge Judy reruns.

I should have added this to the previous post. Better late than never I guess.
My doctor told me that the worse thing you can do after retirement is to go home and set down in front of the television. I really suppose that depends a lot on your health. He said to find something to keep you active, hobbies, volunteer, or what suits your fancy.
He also said that he sees patients that deteriorate monthly because they don't do anything. I haven't had time to set down for very long.
Nuf said. Stay nude and stay happy---I'm always happier when I'm nude--pahjo

I had 2 offers from my previous company to come back to work. I turned them down. Had no desire to do it again.
Been retired for 9 years and keeping busy with naked gardening, minor naked vehicle/tractor/house maintenance, master gardener volunteer (incl. being editor of their monthly newletter; can do this naked), master naturalist volunteer, bowl twice/week. Drive the church van once every 5 weeks and take it in for maintenance, but I do the washing of it.

been rtired for three years. now i have the time to enjoy the lifestyle and friends but no money. was just the opposite when i was working. the friends don't cost anything but enjoying the resorts does. my pension covers necessities and that's about it. my dream was to work at a nudist resort but none would hire me so it was just that.
