Mystic Oaks is now closed. It has been operated by Flo and Ole Nilson, or the Nilson family since 1954 - 52 Years. Prior to being Mystic Oaks it was McConville "A Private Mountain resort" Box 131 Elsinore, California 92330, and in the 70's was associated with the AHA American Health Alliance.

In the 70's I flew my aircraft to their new dirt airstrip on top of a hill, and attended the American Health Alliance Convention and pagent.

I have already post a photo album called "Nudist Aviation History" on April 19th, 2005 but it cannot be found in search or on the server. I hope it is in archives otherwise I have lost the story that goes with it.

I will post the Photo's that I saved without the story F.Y.I. on this very old, probably one of the oldest in California pioneer Nudist facilities.

Thank you for commemorating what looks like a wonderful place to practice nudism. The photographs from the 1960's suggest that back then many nudists took their health seriously, which paid off in having healthy-looking bodies.

That was probably more attributable to the photography style used in nudism in that era. The major organizations no longer hold pageants, for a variety of reasons.

But on the other hand, it's a sad day because Mystic Oaks is a legacy park -- going all the way back to 1933!!!!

And it was likely the oldest and longest surviving non-cooperative club in the United States.

While there may have been varied reasons for its closing, many parks go by the wayside because of encroaching development and subsequent skyrocketing real estate values.

It is sad to see the venerable Mystic Oaks disappear from the landscape. The long standing club will be missed.

Very nice pics from the past. Thanks for sharing with us. Too bad the place closed down. Looks like it was a great place to enjoy oneself.

Mystic Oaks has been sold to a non-nudist establishment. I believe the plan is to build a temple on the grounds....so it must be a religious establishment.

They will likely still be listed until they surrender their AANR charter.

Whether a "Mystic Oaks" organization continues to exist as a non-landed club (a club without grounds -- the members band together) will likely be up to the members.

The reason it sold was because, as a business, it was doing very poorly. On site residents were down to around 10 I'm told. And visitors averaged 1 or 2 on the weekends.....sporadicly.

Many of the few members visited Olive Dell last weekend, shopping for a new place to call home.

The property sold for 4-6 million dollars..... which, if one must sell out, is a worthy sum http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

Maybe the buddhists will become nudist buddhists...
