Hello, all. Just out of curiosity, who/what is everyone listening to right now? That kinda stuff interests me (sad, I know...)
Right now, "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode is running on my Media Player. Awesome song. DM is one of my favorite bands, alongside Oingo Boingo, Smashing Pumpkins, Fuel, The Clash, INXS, and Journey. (I'm only 18, but I'm a huge 80's freak)
Of course, my all time favorite artist is Adam Ant/Adam and the Ants. Something about that whooping and chanting revs me up, in addition to his total hot-ness (well, back then, anyway. You should see him now...tsk tsk)!! His "Strip" song, sans the verses, only the chorus, should be INA's anthem. Too bad he had to throw that sexual connotation in. /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I haven't listened to radio in about 10 years, because it's all the same garbage. (Although I like the band "Garbage") I always play CD's. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Marianne Faithful's more recent stuff. Just amazing!

Right now I'm listening to the birds outside my window. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I don't listen to music much. But, when I do, I like:
Simon & Garfunkel
Cheryl Crow
Blood, Sweat & Tears
Chicago
Lisa Loeb (some)
I also listen to classical music. I rarely listen to country music; although, when I do, I rarely hear any that I hate.
I don't listen to hard rock (I can never understand what they're saying???). However, my fiance listens to medium rock (9 inch nails, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.) and I have to listen to that when we're in the car together. I like most of what she plays, I just don't choose to listen to it. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I even like me some bluegrass, ever now en then.
And, by the way, I happen to be a red-blooded Southern boy - born and raised. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm only kidding, Falcon. I'm glad you decided to live it up a little. Just don't play "Rock the Casbah" too loud, or John Ashcroft and the Patriot Act Ninjas will come banging down your door.
And brainy, Kansas was the band that sang "Dust in the Wind"
I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the momen't gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind, ohh
Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind
Depressing, I know. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Never play it when you're contemplating why we are all here.

"Dust in the Wind" depressing? Not if you've ever heard it played live, as I did in '87. Cincinnati Gardens packed to the roof and singing in unison. Woh! The only other spot that topped that was when they started "Carry on My Wayward Son." I'm surprised the roof stayed on!!! Memories of my concert-faring days in the 80's, before responsibility and other hinderances /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif .
Lately for me, it's been more recent fare, like Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, Train, and the Counting Crows. Alanis Morrisette is still divine in opinion. I will journey back to the 80's for some fond memories, though.

Oh, yeah, Doug! I remember that Kansas concert! I was scared to death when I fell on the floor and was about to be trampled to death by the mosh pit! Luckily, my friend Smut was there to pick me up.
My favorite part of the show was when the lead singer smashed up his guitar. Hee Hee Hee /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I agree--I also hold Alanis Morisette to a status of divinity. Her vocals are so full of passion. (Well, mostly of man-hating passion, but passion nonetheless!)

In regards to a deppresing song I think this is one of the most if not ever.
"Padraic My Prince"
I had a brother once
He drowned in a bathtub before he'd ever learned how to talk
And I don?t know what his name was but my mother does, I heard her say it once
Padraic my prince, I have all but died from the sheer weight of my shame
You cried but no one came and the water filled your tiny lungs
Appear, my dear, and sing to me
It was six years ago today that we laid you in your grave
Your sweet young skin was shining then too
And so tonight to celebrate i will poison myself
Another coughing, shaking fit in a bathroom that is spinning
So I close the door and rest my head on the tile floor
Sickness and sleep turning me cold
I'm still not sure, is there some better place I should be heading towards?
Where the selfishly sick and self-absorbed are welcome
I saw the future once, I was drunk in a phone booth
My eyes were wet and red, but I could not tell what was said
And through the screams of the traffic voices carried
Saying I'm sorry
On a day so gray it's black inside, watching churches on TV
In a coma you don?t dream, you just hope that someone sits with you
Babies turn blue when they're ignored like the sky on summer days
Before you turn and walk away it has changed you
So tonight to compensate I will poison myself
Another coughing, shaking fit in a bathroom that is spinning

I have been reading these post and found them to be interesting and decided to register myself and post some of my own.
This topic was a fun one to read so i started here.
What I am listening to now is;
EARL SCRUUGS - EARL SCRUGGS AND FRIENDS
BEETHOVEN'S - NINTH SYMPHONY BY THE BONN
PHILHARMONIC
THE BEATLES - ABBEY ROAD
PINK FLOYD - ECHOES
BLUE OYSTER CULT - FIRE OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN
All playing at random in the CD player...Yes I have a very odd mix there.
when they finish i am putting on:
LEADBELLY - THE ESSENTIAL
LED ZEPPLIN - IV
BOB DYLAN - AT BUDOKAN
GAELIC STORM - GAELIC STORM
VARIOUS - BIGPIPE STANDARDS
I listen only to the best music in all genres.
And i mean music not HIP_HOP/RAP and pure trash as that.

__________________________________________________
Good question, She-Wolf. It's interesting to see what others like to listen to.
My interest is in talk radio and financial news. So right now I'm listening to RUSH LIMBAUGH (Rush is right!) while CNBC is muted in the background. I'm a news junkie who likes to keep tabs on how the gov't is screwing us over; and I like to keep abreast (no pun intended) of the financial markets.
When I'm totally relaxing, I'm listening to Mozart, Vivaldi, Rossini and other cultural classics. I can't stand the crap that passes as popular music today.

If you were to visit me now, you would only hear my apartment's own noises; refrigerator hum, water running next door, and so on. But in my head there is music: Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances.
This is normal for me. Music lover that I am, there's always music running through my mind: Gustav Mahler and Edgard Varese are other favorites, along with the usual suspects J.S. Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.

The music listed here is astounding. Nudist are the best of people. Listening to Mahler, someone has got the reaniassnce of the musical traditon bug bad, this is a good thing. Now if you want to get into some real classics find some of the recording made in the fields by the anthropologists of "native" music from South American Indian groups there are haunting and soothing at the same time. Do not get the western musicians rerecording of these songs while they are good they cannot hold a torch the the originals. Just imagine your self sitting nude around the fire and hearing the music played and the forests around you seem to jion in and nothing is out of place in the world...it has been the closest I have come to finding heaven.
I must say sorry for the grammer and spelling, my typing is horrible but my handwritting is worse. Also I tend to capitalize where you don't in English but you do in other tongues.

oh and here is some of the rap that some of you hate so much. im going to go ahead and stand up for hip hop. what they play on the radio isnt true hip hop.
All over the world hearts pound with the rhythm
Fear not of men because men must die
Mind over matter and soul before flesh
Angels for the pain keep a record in time
which is passin and runnin like a caravan freighter
The world is overrun with the wealthy and the wicked
But God is sufficient in disposing of affairs
Gunmen and stockholders try to merit your fear
But God is sufficient over plans they prepared
