Gerald, I will jump in with one last comment or two.
I have heard that the nude beaches of Spain are better than the more famous ones of France. I speak Spanish after a fashion, so that influences my decision.

Some of the nice (expensive) spas in Baden Germany have nudity during of the session.

A lot of hype surrounds der Englischer Garten in Munich, Germany, where a section has been reserved for clothing optional (FKK) use. There have been some complaints about gawkers and women feeling ill at ease there, so I am not as excited about it as I used to be. I have heard very positive things about nude recreation on the outskirts of Vienna Austria. The place is Danube Island and is said to have huge crowds of nude people swimming and enjoying sports in the nude on hot days.

Nude beaches occur in Germany along the Baltic coast, particularly in what used to be East Germany and one of the Baltic German Islands just offshore. July and August are the only months where you regularly get hot weather that far north.

The beaches of Croatia have been popular with nude bathers for a long time.
