I am considering driving to some very desolate Nevada highway to experience driving.

Driving nude is a lot of fun, especially if you're in a convertible were you can feel the air around you and the sun on your skin. Unfortunately in a convertible it is really easy for everybody to see in and get an eye full if you don't cover up fast enough. I've only rarely found a highway deserted enough during the day to allow me to drive nude for any length of time. Usually I find the only opportunity to drive nude is at night, where I've gone for hours in clothes freedom. Of course if you're a trucker like gymnoboi you can drive nude practically any time!

I've driven nude on a coupe of occaisions and loved it each time.

On the night time experience, it was on the California/Arizona desert highways. The weather was right to have the windows down. The breeze felt great. I was able to go several hours. During the daytime experience, the weather was extremely hot, so I decided to strip and 'go for it'. I'm sure I was spotted, especially by truckers, but nothing happened. It was great. Again, I was able to go several hours down the west side Interstate 5 (main highway in California).

I have several times. Its great, I find its most convinent coming back from the lake so I don't have to sit in wet clothes.

If you do decide to try this just keep to the speed limit, and if you're on a multi-lane road try to stay in the outside lane as much as possible, less likely to be seen by other drivers. I always keep a towel or shorts near so I can cover up quickly in case of a stop light or tall vehicle coming up next to me. I wouldn't suggest actually trying to put on the shorts while driving though, just lay 'em over your lap when needed.

I find its even better on a nice to when I can roll down all the windows.

West Texas is another place to go driving nude. Like the previous poster stated, keep shorts or a towel handy as a coverup. And don't forget to pack water! You can dehydrate before you know it.

Again, I was able to go several hours down the west side Interstate 5 (main highway in California). I drive I-5 a few times a year, but never thought of driving nude! If I could make the trip from the Bay Area to LA with one tank (so I don't have to get dressed when I stop at a gas station), I may consider trying it myself one day...

I drive nude in warm weather. The key thing from my point of view is to do it when it is not unexpected to see a man driving shirtless. That way people never bother with a second look. The other thing is on multi lane roads, the drivers in big trucks can see down through your winshield with their big mirrors. If you are not careful, some of them will see you are naked and call out on their CB to everyone else on the road.

Even given the above limitations, I have never had any problems driving naked. I can hardly wait for summer.

I've driven nude in my convertible from Houston to Tulsa and only had to cover up at a toll booth. Left at like 6:00 am and drove straight through till about 1:30 in the afternoon - never had to cover up - just keep you speed faster than the car next to you or slow down quickly if they pass so that they won't see you. If you pass quickly enough, they can't see either..

On one hot summer day last year in the middle of the day on, I 40, I drove about 135 miles from my place at the lake back home. I 40 is said to be the busiest Interstate in the nation. It isn't uncommon to see men driving without wearing a shirt so i knew that wouldn't be a problem. I stayed in the right lane as much as possible and when I needed to pass a truck, lots of those, or a S.U.V. I would pull my tan shorts over my lap.
I stayed covered up when i got in traffic, had to cross Okla. City. Before I got home I was back in ruel area and stopped on a farm road to dress. Sure didn't want to but the neighbors probably wouldn't like to see me going into the house nude. I could have pulled into the garage and closed the door but with my luck one of the busy bodies would have wanted to talk. I've driven nude many times day and night. I echo the suggestions made earlier about obeying the speed limit and keeping a towel handy for quick cover up. I was driving late one summer night and came around a bend in the road to find a highway work crew doing road repairs. They had high intensity lights on both sides of the road and police cars flashing their lights to get people to slow down. My towel and slid out of reach and I went through the construction zone at 40 mph completely naked. Fortunately I don't think anyone saw me.

I drive naked on the backroads, as I have seen how little you actually can see of a driver of a car that comes towards you.It is a vague blur, always in the dark, shadowed by the roof.
The combined speed is over 100 kms, so how can there be any fear of being seen, as you are well covered by the over the waist level of the door as well.

Even while being overtaken, very few people will glance sideways, they look at the car and the road, not at you.
When a bit anxious about being seen, slow down a little when being overtaken and throw a towel over your lap

We've taken lots of back roads and a lot of times when we stop(my husband takes lots of pictures) I get out of the car "as is". A word of advice. If you are planning on driving through Nevada. Make darn sure that your car is in good shape and that your tank is full. We have places where there is nothing, and I do mean nothing, for miles and miles.
But if you want desolate this is the place to be. I have been on some well marked main hiways and only seen maybe 2 or 3 other cars per hour of driving time.

I live in Seattle and except for high night time pedestrian areas have driven nude around much of this city at night. Open the moon roof, turn on the seat heaters...its great!

I have been driving nude for the last 20+ years.
As long as you are aware of your surroundings and keep a towel or shorts to cover up you should have no problem. Be advised, in California you can be sighted for driving without shoes. I was stopped once by the CHP for making in unsafe lane change (and rightly so). I was able to pull on my shorts before stopping and when the officer came up to the car he made a point of shining his flashlight to make sure I had shoes on (which I did).

i agree that you don't need to go to a desolate stretch of road. next time you go driving, see if you can view any other driver's lap; chances are you can't. also see if any of the drivers who glance your way are looking anywhere except your head; chances are they aren't.

the only people who would be able to see your lap are people in taller vehicles -- vehicles like trucks and very big pickups or SUVs. in this country, very few police districts use pickups or SUVs, so no worries.

now, truck drivers can see you, and they might talk about you on the CB, but that's not going to get you any police action. i mean, not too many staties monitor channel 19 just waiting for a naked driver to bust.

the easy way to avoid the truck drivers is to stay on the 2-lane highways.

I've driven nude several times in both the day and the night. I love it. If you drive a higher vehicle, you can usually try to stay in the right lane of the freeway. People cannot really see you that way. If I have to pass someone, I do it quickly. When people are driving, they don't have the inattention time to stare at someone in another vehicle.

I don't know about records. Last summer I drove my RV from Washington State down to Colorado mostly nude except for gas stops, overnight stops, etc. My RV is higher up, but it has a very large front window with a dash that hides from the waist down. You have to stand up and walk to the door, during which you can put on shorts and a T to get some gas.

I have never driven great times or distances naked, but have enjoyed doing so on about a 12 mile ride home after running with a friend early in the morning. It was usually about sunrise in the hot part of the summer. I kept a towel handy in case I got pulled over for something. My sweaty, wet clothing on the floorboard proof that I had engaged in exercise. My windows are tinted so I wasn't too concerned about people seeing me. After all the objective was not to be seen, but to cool down from the run and feel the great feeling of driving naked.

I've only driven nude within the confines of a nudist resort or club. I have never had the opportunity or even made an effort to drive in the nude on either a public highway or street, not even at night. I guess I would be too worried about being pulled over by an overzealous cop or being seen by a passing motorist and/or their passenger(s). Maybe that just isn't for me!

I can easily go a good 800 miles before I fuel if i want to. I have drivin from IL to cali a 2.5 day trip and only had anything at all on less then a combined total of less then 2 hours for the complete trip.

Driving from a nude bowling event to their home park, 4 friends got stopped. It seems the truckers were talking about it on their CBs and the police were listening in.

If you must refrain from wearing clothing while driving, just be careful. I wear a long tshirt dress or at least a pareo if I need the comfort.

One simple thing to remember if you are driving at night. Be sure all of the lights on your vehicle are operating properly. A burned out tail light or some other non-operating light can be a reason for a traffic stop. It just takes a few seconds to walk around your vehicle to check that all the lights are working.

I did just today pickup some of that window darkening stuff, but this uses static cling material versus being glued on. I figure I can do The front windows on both of my primary vehicles without the commitment of glued on materials.

I tried driving naked (at least bottom half) two years ago when I was in Boston driving from Logan Airport going back to Worcester. I took route 9. I was so scare whenever I hit the traffic light but I was really enjoy it a lot. It was around 3-4am in the morning. No traffic at all. Luckily nobody saw me naked.

I was an " OVER THE ROAD TRUCKER" for many years and belive me you don't want to get caught naked while driving a "BIG RIG'. I once was stopped in CT. for a blown head light. When I got out of the truck at the bears request, I was buckinbg my belt and the bear freaked. Until I explained that after years of trucking I had a large bellie and the belt buckel was diging into it. Also when you pull into a chicken house [ DOT scale] the chickens can see into your cab and you would be hassled.

if i drive my delivery truck nude, i've started putting my duffel bag right beside me, on the console behind the shifter; that way, the door blocks the view on my left, and my bag blocks it on my right. most of my route is on rural two-lane highways, though, so usually i don't even bother with the duffel, and just toss my t-shirt over my lap when i go through a town.

in our old car, it would have been easy to just stuff a couple of pillows in between the front seats for the same effect. but we just got a minivan, and the gap goes all the way down to the floor. the rear windows are tinted, but not the front ones. but, as i've probably mentioned before, when i'm not in the company vehicle, i don't really care if anyone sees.

It probably depends on where you are. MA may be as uptight about bodies as you say, but I suspect that VT isn't, and most of the western US is unconcerned. Generally, its good to be legal and not to be stopped though no matter where you are. You can never tell about the bears.

There is quite a bit of difference in attitudes between RI, CT & MA and VT, NH & ME although I don't know how you would make out if stopped in NH and that's where I live. VT has to be one of the more libertarian states, if not the most libertarian state, in the country.

There's also a major difference between urban and rural areas, in MA, I think that anything inside the 495 belt has to be considered urban in attitude.

Yes I was inside the 495 belt by about 200 feet. The only visable life was at the gas station where i was geting fuel for my truck. next time i will try the outside of the 495 belt.

I've driven nude a few times before, while in Texas, on the way to and from a couple of nudist resorts. Once when my wife and I were driving from California to Louisiana, I slept nude in the back of our minivan, completely uncovered, for at least a few hours in the middle of the day in the Summer. Never had a problem with that experience and I sure slept good.

My truck is fairly high up, so I usually don't have to worry about most other vehicles looking down into my car (really large trucks excepted). I drive nude almost daily now One SAt I was driving home and staying low key and in an interchange I think a lady spotted me . Oops .She was looking over her shoulder to make a lane change and saw alittle more than lane. I drive a pickup F150 so Im not low , she somehow came out of nowhere.

NAKEDMAN5, It's more than a misdemeanor in SC. If you can be seen from the public right of way (street, highway, waterway, etc.), it is definitely more than a misdemeanor and more than just a parking ticket.
