Has any one been to Apollo Beach recently? I am making my first trip there later this week and just wanted to know what to expect.

Been a while, but as I recall parking at lot 5 is very limited,so get there early ( especially on weekends). As far as the beach its great, quiet and not much else, bring water and food for there are no vendors there. Have fun wish I could go too. Or maybe thei friday I can.
Rick.

Playalinda Beach the other beach at Canaveral has more parking and nearby lots with shorter walks.

I was under the impression that there were hassles from the local "law enforcement officials". Is this resolved?

The problems at Playalinda were a few years back and I have not observed any problems on recent visits.

Apollo has an "agreement" with the park service that allows for unharrassed nude use with in the designated area. (starting 1/4 mile south of the parking lot 5 boardwalk.) Playalinda has no such agreement so it's a use at your own risk type of thing. There are a lot of CFN members that do use Playalinda and I've heard it recommended that one set up camp near them.

Get to Apollo early to get one of the 30 or so parking spots. You might want to plan for the lot being full and take a bike and park in lot 4 and ride down to lot 5 and lock up your bike. There are bike racks there. Showers can be found at lot one on your way out of the park at the end of your stay. They are nice to wash the salt water off.

Have fun!

I love Apollo Beach, but there's no drinking water, so bring plenty to last through your visit.

Yes, parking is hard to come by. I had to park at lot four and walk to five. I found that it is slow going on the sand. I made better time walking down the road instead.

The people I met at Apollo were great. It was a mellow place.

Thanks for all of the input. I am going tomorrow (Thursday) and the weather is turning cool (72 for a high)and windy. Will probably be a small turn out, but I will absolutely be there.

Last time I went to Haulover, it was cool and windy. Myabe I am the problem?

Have FUN! If there in wind in the forecast...try taking a make-shift wind break. When we were there, lots of people had homemade wind breaks. They really look to help. You might be able to buy a premade one at a beach supply shop?

Enjoy, I hope the weather stays nice for you!
(Of course, if it's not perfect weather, the bright side is that parking should be easier!)

For those of you who may be interested (both of you), I just returned from a wonderful day at Apollo Beach. Inspite of the weather forecast (70 and thunderstorms), the day turned out to be tremendous -- 74 and mostly sunny. There were enough clouds to filter the worst of the sun so it was great. Surprisingly, there were only a dozen or so naturists on the beach all afternoon, so we had plenty of room.

Fortunately, a group of 6 or so guys and gals came along and organized a football game, so we had a good time.

While Apollo Beach is great, I still prefer Haulover. Two reasons -- Apollo is tough to get to (a drive and a hike), and Haulover has vendors that serve good stuff.

Anybody disagree?

It's great that your day turned out good! The football sounds like a lot of fun. How is the beach right now? When we were there, 2001, 2002....it was really steep due to the hurricanes that had beat up the shore. Has it leveled off any?

Glad you have fun!

The tide was relatively high today, but the beach has been leveled out nicely. The dunes are still in place, but the beach is very enjoyable. I am still amazed that there were only a dozen or so naturists out today. I understand that it is a week day, but it is also tourist season, so I expected a much bigger crowd. Oh well. You're right -- the football was fun; I asked about volley ball, but no one brought a volley ball. Maybe next time.

Thanks for the update...glad to know the beach is a bit more level now.

I've heard they do play volleyball there on occasion, that would be fun!
