OK my wife (Cathy) told me we could try a C\O beach this year.
How ever she has been told that Miami is not a good place to go!
Now what do I do?
We are going to FL. this year.
Thanks dan t

Miami and Miami Beach are two different places with two different city governments. Go to Miami Beach where Haulover Beach is located and you will find that it is an exceptionally good place to be.

David77 is right.
They are like 2 different worlds. As is the case with most big cities and the nearby suburbs.
I have brought my wife to Haulover 5 out of the last 7 years of our winter vacation. We stayed at the Ocean Palm Motel, which is less than a 5 minute walk to Haulover. And there are Miles of textile beachs to the north and south of the nude beach. So if your wife isn't thrilled with the Nude beach (and I'm sure she will be)you still have plenty of options.
A short drive north brings you to Hollywood where there are plenty of souvenir shops and eateries along the beach front.
On our last trip we visited Butterfly World in Coconut Creek, just north of Ft Lauderdale. And took a day to visit the Park on Key Biscayne, which is about 1/2 hour drive from Ocean Palm by I 95.
My wife wanted to go there to see the antique Carousel they have there.
And Parrot Jungle is also pretty cool as well as Sea World which we havn't visited yet.
There are a lot of things to do in the Miami area aside from spending time on the beach.
What works for my wife is that I let her select 2 things to do that she wants us to see, and I get my time on the beach with her for a few days.
The south beach area is pretty nice too, but Hotels and things are pretty expensive around there. It's worth a walk through on a nice day. Don't forget the shopping on Lincoln Mall either. Just don't buy too much. It's pretty over priced, but there are some nice resturaunts along the sidewalk. The day we went to the Mall we just rode the bus. It's pretty easy and cheap. No parking problems and a great way to see more of the city.
I hope Cathy reconsiders. You can spend a few days near Miami without ever going into the City.

Florida has two other very excellent nude beaches....actually both better for a first timer than Haulover.
Their names are Playalinda and Apollo Beach. Both are east of Orlando, located at the south and north end of Canaveral National Seashores national park. I'd recommend Apollo over Playalinda, just cause Playalinda has signs.
So you can save on gas and make it an Orlando/Daytona/New Smyrna/Cocoa Beach vacation http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

Doctorsurferdude,I saw you could get a ticket for being on the beach nude in both of those areas!
Is this true?

Apollo beach has legal status and Playalinda has not had anyone ticketed for being nude for quite a few years. At this time there is no problem at either beach, although this time of year weather can be questionable.

Just wanted to note a typo in Dr's post...it is Apollo that HAS signs and the agreement for nude use there. Apollo has the nude signs, Playalinda doesn't but both beaches are used c/o in specific areas.

At Playlinda...yes, you could be ticketed if the county police are being butts.
At Apollo.......no ticket, as long as your nude use is in the specified location...south of cross over 5. Where the sign is.

Playalinda has signs identifying the Brevard County anti-nudity ordinance. Park Rangers do not enforce the ordinance. In my opinion I wouldn't base the decision of which beach to go to on that issue. Playalinda has more parking and the overflow lot is much closer. Unless you arrive very early at Apollo, the next nearest lot is quite a distance away.

We will try to find a campground close by so we can get there early in the morning.
And Cathy wants to go in June or July.
Thank you all for your help. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

My 2 cents:
I haven't been to the other two FL beaches, though I've heard good things about them. Haulover, on Miami Beach, can be good once you're used to it, but bad for a first timer, because of the gawkers/creeps & general socially-hostile/cold environment. Haulover could leave a bad first impression for someone's first socially nude experience.

I agree with this. Apollo would be best for a first timer because there will most likely be fewer people there than at Playalinda. Parking can be a problem at both but worse at Apollo. Try to get there early.
