The following just struck me as so humorous. Like, is their sex a top secret or something?

PACIFIC BEACH – Two people were arrested in the theft of a mail carrier's satchel yesterday.
The carrier was delivering mail on Ingraham Street between La Cima and Moorland drives at 10:30 a.m. when the pair grabbed his satchel cart and shoved it into a vehicle, said Mike Cannone, a Postal Service spokesman.
A woman was detained almost immediately, he said. A second suspect – officials couldn't say if it was a man or a woman – was arrested later.
Cannone said investigators believe the satchel was returned with all the mail still inside.

Yea, it does sound sound rather bizzare, but stealing mail is a federal offense. Strange, but true. Now for the person who got arrested later who the authorities declined to state the gender was, is stunning. Hard to read 'between' the lines, but either they couldn't say either because of the ongoing investigation, or the person was a, well, you know, they didn't want to offend. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

Well I dunno... if you read the words literally, it means the officials were simply unable to say. Some people's appearance makes the question inconclusive, without a strip search. Which probably wasn't warranted by the situation...

I am a postal worker. Even though I am not a mail carrier, that is the toughest job in the post office.

I'm sorry, but should that be 'pitch' instead of 'ditch'? Just curious. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

I attended a computer database class presented by someone who had done a computer project for some large city police department. He said he had originally assumed that he could use a binary database field to represent gender, i.e., true for male and false for female.
Nope! The police said that was unacceptable. They had to store gender data in a way that could represent male, female, undetermined, differing degrees of transgender, and possibly other categories.
The official questioned by reporters in Shăybare's story might not have been directly involved in the incident and maybe hadn't yet been given details about who had been arrested.
