I'm glad he was found not guilty. That wasn't the appropriate charge to bring against him, and the District Attorney should have known better.
Having said that, it's just dumb to go to work in someone else's home and be nude without making sure that no one else is going to see. Since he apparently made a practice of that, it was just a matter of time before someone found out and complained.

Yeah, sounds like he needs to find a resort to work in with alot of carpentry needs. Maybe he should explicity advertise that he does work nude as a selling point - like the naked handyman in Tampa... also ran across this website for a nude carpenter in TN (http://thenakedcarpenter.com/).

It seems that this local "news" would have occured near San Jose California where the newspaper is located.
It was summer and I assume that the work that the caprenter did made the carpenter quite warm and uncomfortable.
For his health's sake and for his comfort, it was wise to remove his clothing while he worked.
However, he should have made certain that no one could see him, nor walk in on him without their prior permission for his working nude in the house.
The judge handed down a fair decision.

http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/applause.gif I applaud him for guts to work comfortably, and for winning the case. Wish I could work nude; where I work there is actually a company policy against working "out of uniform".

I don't see anyting wrong with the guy working in the nude, but he should have taken precautions for those 'just in cases' should he get caught. He should've made it clear to the customers that he works in the nude, hence putting to rest any further problems if they returned home to catch him in his state of attire.
I do applaud the judges decision to find him not guilty, thus he is free to go on to work in the nude should he wish. But I'm sure he will make it clear from now on that he works in the nude. Hopefully his business will pick up. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

Me had to have one small building project too in this summer couple weeks long, thus in that hellish warmth I used to use only mikro-strings, as the territory was brand public. Many people murmured but none had to camplain.

I had heard elsewhere that this was not his first brush with the law. He had been arrested on similar charges before.
I also do my work in the nude as often as possible, but that is in MY woodshop, garage, house or yard http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif.

Jay Leno joked about it last night on "The Tonight Show". The first joke, I believe, had to do with being careful. The second was a bit dirtier. He joked that Sen. Larry Craig has asked for him to do some work on his house.

People need to understand, this man wasn't "In trouble with the law" He was in trouble with uninformed Police and Busy body neighbors.
The Law is written with specfic words on pourpose. Unfortunatly the "Law enforcers" don't know the Law.
Lewid conduct and sexualy conduct in public is what the law is against. Not Nudity.
This law is written correctly. The police should have never arrested him. The neighbors should mind their own business.
Communities pass laws against "public nudity" in many cases , in an attempt to ban Strip Clubs. Not giving any thought to the rights of the rest of the citizens. And there are countless other examples in our history.
Laws that violate the constitution and infringe on our Inalienable Rights should never get passed.
We have allowed congress to pass laws at will and only if someone challenges them do they get changed.
Congress should challenge these laws before they get passed. Making sure they don't over step the boundries set by the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. Only after they have cleared those challenges should they be considered for a vote.
This "Kill Everyone, and sort the bodies later" attitude of our elected officials needs to be stopped.
ELECT A NEW CONGRESS!!!
If someone votes for a law that violates our freedom, Vote that person out of office.
You get the government you vote for. Start showing them just how dissatisfied you are with them.
Off the soap box...

But, I think I would go one step further, It should be pointed out that 50,000 plus people enjoy some sort of nudist lifestyle, with that amount of interest laws should be worded differently to allow for this lifestyle.
