Another piece of more innocent times has vanished forever with the death of Don Knotts at age 81.

As the bumbling deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffth Show" he made us laugh.

Were that it still as easy to get us to laugh.

That is sad news, What a funny guy, Laughter? This guy was a laugh factory.

Barney Fife will go down in TV history as one of the funnest. He played that part sooooooo good. I hope to see a Andy Griffth show today.

How is Thelma Lou taking it?

I, too, have found memories of Don Knotts. Barney Fife, Mr. Furley, chucks, I still remember him as one of Steve Allen's "men on the street".

For the longest time people (even adults) refered to the local Deputy as "Barney". To this day any law enforcement person who is over-zelous is called a Barney Fife type. In the words of America's Yogi (Berra), "Who wouldda thunk?" http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sad3.gif

The Shakiest Gun in the West.
Starring Don Knotts.

He was truly one of the great comedians of all-time.

Don Knott's best remembered movies:

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
The Shakiest Gun in the Wet
The Incredible Mr. Limpet
The Apple Dumpling Gang
The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again

He played many characters but it is his Barney Fife that is stamped onto the frontal lobe our our collective brains.

(Fred don't be telling'em our age like that, I mean Steven Allen's show http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif)

Don Knotts was a fine actor and played many roles in films and tv and will be missed by many. My sympathies to his family.

Personally, not an Andy Griffth fan, but I enjoy the repeats on the TV Land network. I watch some, but not all, but as far as Mr. Knotts goes, he was truely a great comedian. Not so much a stand-up, but in pictures and television. I, too, loved to watch him on Three's Company, and the Apple Dumpling Gang pics.

He will truely be missed, for his humor was of the older style, in such, he could make people laugh without making vulgar comments. Those type of comedians are fading fast. I will always cherish those who has made the job of a comedian, a show that has more to do with family audiences, without getting down right vulgar.

May Mr. Knotts rest in peace.

It was while checking out the CFF that I have learned of Don Knotts death.

His legendary role as the inept Deputy Barney Fife will bring laughs for many more years.

He was truly a comic genius.

First it was 'Barney Fife' then it was 'Mike hammer'. Now Deputy Chester Goode passed away.

Wish I had the link but Dennis Weaver died today of cancer.

Ouch, two great actors from shows I watched in my younger days. Yes, Don Knotts was great too watch in any movie he was in, and will be missed for his style of comedy.

And, Dennis Weaver as "McCloud"....LOL, I suppose that "the Chief" won't be taking as many pills, now that McCloud is no longer on the force....

Bring on the reruns....

Hope they are enjoying their eternity.

Peace,

DuWayne

Didn't Darron McGavin (I probably spelled that wrong) also die this week?

Yes, Daren was the "Mike Hammer" that fred950 referred to (in a late 50s tv show) - he is probably better known as the original "Kolchak - the Night Stalker". The 'other' Mike Hammer - Stacy Keach is doing fine.

When did you last check?? I'm not saying he isn't doing fine, I just wanted to know when you last visited him to verify his health status. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif
