I am excited. Tomorrow I will be modeling for the artists at the Albuquerque Art League. It will be my first time modeling ever in my life. I have been practicing. I am proud to say that I can hold a pose for twenty minutes. I will be able to earn ten dollars an hour by doing this.

I may not have the best looking body in the world. Actually for someone who just turned 22 yesterday, I am not the most attractive guy out there. Nonetheless if they have a problem seeing me the way I am, tough.

I'll write back tomorrow and let you all know how it goes.

Best wishes, Tenchi. Just relax and enjoy it, that's my advice, if it's worth anything.

Ben.

OH WOW! I LOVED IT! IT WAS GREAT! The people there, though much older than me, were all warm and welcoming. Almost everybody shook my hand and asked me my name and how I was doing.

Even though I am not the most handsome guy in the world, everyone talked about how much of a great model I was. They said I did a wonderful job sitting still, especially for a first time one. As I was posing they made sure I was very comfortable. They placed me under these nice warm lights along with a cool breeze from a fan. I was made to sit upon nice cushions, and my robe even made it softer. Of course it wasn't easy. One of my arms got really tired from sitting for twenty minutes in a row. But it was worth it.

It was also fascinating to hear them talk about me as I was being painted. The art instructor would say such things as "you need to put a little more red in his cheeks," or "his legs are a little bigger than that," or "remember, focus on the negative shapes." It was all very interesting. It was especially cool to walk around afterwards and see people progress. Wow, what a talented group of people.

I go back next Wednesday. Maybe someday I'll see a painting of me at an art museum.

Tenchi, great job. It really is fun to pose for art classes. Art is not about beauty, it is everything to do with the essence of everything in our world...as you pose more often, you will become more relaxed and the student artist's will glean much knowledge of the human body that will be conveyed through their eyes to the canvas. You deserve 5 Stars. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Glad you enjoyed it, Tenchi. Good to hear that you felt like a person and not a piece of furniture. Your experience might give me a bit of courage that I've apparently been lacking - hmmmm.

Good luck on making it into the museum /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good for you Tenchi!

I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Sounds like you were with a good group...but, but, ...Ben... Did you have a bad experience? Was/were your artist(s) treating you like a sofa? or chaise lounge..or worse..lawn furniture?

That gets me to wondering if us "artistes" are more than half the problem with finding good life models. Can we be too demanding? Do we need to focus more on our particular models areas of expertise? Is there something we need to ask a nude model...that we are not?

Elevenchi- did they ask YOU what poses you thought you could "hold"? I find that most of my requests for QUICK poses are the most difficult. But the longer ones are nice and comfy.....

(note that I gave you a point for your efforts...!)

No (although I enjoyed the humorous aspect of your elaboration on the idea /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ). I guess I just wouldn't want that experience either, and for some reason see the potential for it. I never cease to be a real, live, feeling person - even, if not especially, while unclothed and being 'studied'. I suppose for me it's a position of trust in the artist(s).
