Buck Owens died at 76 and the flags are at halfmast.

Hee Haw will never be the same!

It is a shame he did not live to celebrate Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day one more time on March 27th, since he is responsible for quite a few quirky country music song titles himself.

What a great entertainer. Hee Haw was before it's time.

Many of us remember him from his days living in the Tacoma, Wa. area and playing on the Pacific Ave. strip of honky tonks before he went to Cal. and got famous. A great guitar player and songwriter who helped others along the road, one of whom is Dwight Yoakam.

The services will be on Saturday April 1 at the Crystal Palace here in Bakersfield. He built the place several years ago and it has become quite famous. I hope it becomes his "Graceland".

I have never been much of a country music fan, but I will miss Buck Owens.

That's Buck on the left with the red, white & blue guitar. Amazon offers some short audio clips for anyone who'd care to listen.

I watched a lot of Hee Haw back in the day.
I loved the "I'm a picken and I'm a grin'in segment.
Had to wonder about those Buckaroos though.

I gotta go look for the reruns.
I miss seeing Grandpa Jones, Stringbean, Kathy Baker, Archie Campbell, the whole gang, even that old bloodhound.
Hey Grandpa! What's for supper?
While Archie's giving someone a haircut, let him tell you that story again about the Pee little thrigs!

Gloom, dispair and agony on me...

Scout, I used to enjoy Junior Samples. BR-549 wouldn't mean diddle if not for Samples Sales! And he did elevate blowing his lines to an art form!

Then, I recall reading that Buck felt'consumed' by Hee Haw. Him wearing his bibs backwards was supposed to be a protest.

Fred, Junior Samples was the real thing.
The Samples family was very prominent in Forsyth County before Atlanta's ever-expanding suburbs paved over most of the local color. Though they were prominent, the Samples were just plain country folks. However, Junior was a lot sharper than he let on.

Hee Haw gave Buck a lot of extra fame, but he would have been famous if there never had been a Hee Haw.
