I had to give two answers since it depends on the weather. Nothing when it's warm enough, and a T shirt when it isn't. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

This should be an interesting survey since most people in these posts wear nothing in bed. But there are some who wear something. I, myself, don't wear a thing, nude all the way. And when I visit someone, I don't wear anything either. The only exception is when I visit the coast and spend the night, I wear sweat pants only, very cold during the night.

I got into sleeping naked and now I do it pretty much all the time. There are a few cases in which I might wear underwear, but I usually sleep naked all the time now.

I've been sleeping nude since I was about 12. Tried it once and was hooked. I've gone to bed a few times with either a T-shirt or pajama bottoms on but they always come off at some point. I just can't get comfortable in bed with clothes on anymore.

Ranul: Judging by your poll it would appear that
while us naturists don't always agree..there's
one area where it's fairly unanimous.
"Birthday suits" are the preferred sleeping

As far back as I can remember--before age 8--I slept totally nude. However, the older this body gets the colder I seem to get. That's why I hope to retire to Florida--as far South as I can get. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I have been sleeping nude since Jr. High School, but not all the time. Wasn't until freshman year in high school that I had my own room and was able to close the door and have some privacy. Hard to do prior being 1 or 7 brothers and sisters, I am the only nudist, I think.
Got married at age 20 to my high school sweetheart and been married for almost 30 years. Since our wedding night, we've slept nude. Occassionally in the begining my wife would wear a t-shirt or pj top but she got tired of getting tangled up in it so that was short lived.
We sleep nude all the time and everywhere. When on vacations with others and sharing a room, we are creative enough to ensure we can sleep nude and not be obvious to those who do not or would be embarrassed.
We can't imagine why anyone would want to wear anything to bed. But some still do. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I'm with those who go for total nudity when going to bed. I started sleeping nude off and on when I was in Jr. Hi and that slowly increased through high school. In college it stopped wearing anything to bed no matter what and there has been no turning back. It's about 15 years since I made the switch to 100% of the time. I just can't be comfortable any other way.

I began sleeping nude at about age 12 and have slept that way since. I did wear briefs for a while when I had a roomate in college (got my own place after freshman year).
My wife started sleeping nude very soon after we married but still will not go the local nudist park where I am a member. She doesn't mind me going without her though.

Started as a teen - about 16 wearing just a T-shirt. Gradually stopped wearing anything to bed. May wear a pair of shorts if I am with people who would be uncomfortable with my nudity.
I am just wondering for those people start sleeping naked at young age such as 8 or 10...does your parents figure out that you were sleeping naked?

I started about age 10-12. I don't recall right now. Might have been later. Anyway, my mother actually found out one day when I was in either high or junior high school. She just asked if I was naked and I answered yes. She made no big deal out of it and it was never discussed ever again.
Bob S.
I have no idea if my parents knew I slept nude. I know they slept nude--at least when I was little. When I was 7-years-old, we had an apartment with only one bedroom. I slept in the livingroom. You had to go through the livingroom to get to the bathroom. One night my mother walked through the livingroom totally nude to go to the bathroom. It was my one and only time seeing her nude, and it was no big deal to me.
Despite what so many people believe, I wasn't tramatized by that experience. It didn't give me nightmares or cause me any other problems. I simply closed my eyes and went back to sleep. I didn't stare or gasp in shock as many seem to think would happen. Maybe that and the fact that my dad didn't care who saw him nude (and I often did) increased my desire to be nude as much as possible. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I always sleep nude at home. I recently stayed over at my boss' house after a do (she didn't want me driving the 90 miles home and back again, bless her) and my other female colleague had said jokingly during that day 'I hope you've got your fleecies with you' - I didnt answer. Anyways, I did take PJ bottoms but when I retired I decided to sleep as I always do and, as she has her own bathroom and I was going to be up well before her anyway, I made a quick dash to get freshened up. I could have worn the PJs to the bathroom but where's the fun in that, eh!

Nudism in general really bugs my wife. When I started sleeping nude, she felt compelled to take another swipe at my nudism and - GET THIS - bought me full coverage flannel pajamas for Christmas. When I opened THAT present, took one look and said, "You must have mistakenly given me your dad's present". Then I handed them to her. WOW, the look she gave me. /infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
Aside, from the posted question, I want to share this one. Relaxing after dinner (I was nude of course), I noted that there seems to be a cold/flu spreading around. Again, taking a swipe at my nudism, she asked, "Is getting dressed contagious?" /infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif I replied, "No, it's compulsive". /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
Actually, DNat, I would have said that getting dressd was "repulsive". /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Once you sleep in the nude, it's real hard to go back to clothes. I just can't understand the fact that people get dressed to go to sleep, and then get all twisted in their clothes in their sleep, humm. It feels so good sleeping in the nude, and to me it allows the body to breathe and relax. The feeling is all to natural...

I started sleeping nude while serving in the Army. It stated while I was in the Mediterranean and it was too hot to put on even a T-shirt. There were 30 guys sharing that Billet and a lot of us slept naked. Since I returned to the U.K. I have continued sleeping nude( Even though I shared a room with three other guys) ever since.

I'm one of those who chose both textiled and nude sleeping. It depends on the season. In winter, to save on my heating bills I keep the room temperature at 55 so I sleep in PJs but in summer I go au naturale. An exception to the rule in winter is if I have someone else in bed with me to add a little warmth /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif to my life.

My wife and I are nudists who live near the arctic circle and we both sleep nude. The only problem is with our dogs having to make their trips outside at night. I can go outside naked for a little while when the temp is at 0 but have to get dressed when it gets in the negative numbers. Being in a secluded area gives us the opportunity to be naked close to the house. The cold can be exhilarating - you'll need to try it for short bursts.!
I have slept nude most of my life, from time to time did wear something. I found many times though, that I would wake up nude in the morning, having removed whatever I wore to bed, and usually had no memory of removing it. So, I just gave up. Saves money on clothing and laundry, and I sleep much better. It gets cold here in the winter, but I just use a comforter.

I was probably in junior high when I started sleeping nude. At that time I would slip out of my pajamas at night and put them pack on in the morning. My parents never knew, nor would I have wanted them to find out since they were very conservative on such issues. Now that I'm an old married man I make no secret of the fact that I sleep nude, even though my wife is an avowed textile. She originally tried to get me to put on some underwear or something but that was pointless. She eventually gave up and just accepted the fact. My young kids love to try to "embarass" dad by telling others that I sleep naked but since I am no longer that insecure teenager slipping out of his PJ's at night then I just smile and say "you betcha I sleep nude!" No one cares either way. Now I'd say I'm nearly a 100% person. The last time I remember wearing something to bed was during the ice storm of '94 when the power was out for four days. That shows my level of dedication to sleeping nude!
Yawn... I feel a nap coming on...
The only time I can remember wearing anything to bed since I was about 14 was at a naturist campsite in Denmark last year when it was chilly enough at night to wear a T-shirt in my sleeping bag.

my family (me, my wife, and 3 young kids) all sleep nude most of the time. once we went camping and it got really cold (45 degrees, that's cold for us in florida) at night and we were all really cold at night. seeing as this was our first experience with cold weather while camping, we did not know any better. the next night we kept t-shirts and sweats on, and boy was it uncomfortable (can you say - choke-). once you sleep naked, there is no turning back (except for cold weather).
to all those who have room-mates (college mostly) and are worried about sleeping naked, i would suggest to just go to bed naked one night and see what happens (this assumes you sleep under at least a thin sheet). so what if he/she finds out that you are naked under a cover. maybe you are worried that some of his/her buddies will come over and do something embarassing. part of the nudist lifestyle is about the possibility of being caught with your pants down. think of it as an opportunity to spread nudism. when i was in college, my room-mate had such ripped underwear (we were poor) that i decided if he could wear those things around the house, i could at least be naked in bed. he knew i was naked under the covers and did not care. but one night i went to sleep before him and he came home with his girlfriend. well, in the morning i woke to their voices talking quietly in his bed and realised i was sporting a nice woody (under covers luckily). i always wondered if my anatomy was what they were talking about, but never asked. i continued to sleep naked since they probably saw it all that morning.
i think that everyone should at least be allowed to be naked in their own bed. enjoy your freedom, you are young and should not have such worries.

(40 Celsius = 104 Farenheit)

For all on this board who can do binomial equations (try to think back to algebra):
The conversion equation from Celcis (C) to Farenheit (F) is this:
9C=5F-160
For anyone who learned the two separate equations, this is those, just reduced to one equation. Try it, it works.

As a flight instructor in the USA, where we are used to talking degrees in F rather than C, but the flying community uses the C degrees, I teach the equation to convert F to C as take away 30 then divide by 2. This will get you within about 2 degrees. To convert C to F, double it and add 30. Works like a charm.
If I'm correct 32 degrees F equals 0 degrees C. What I would like to know is how much F degrees do you add or subtract for each C degree? /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
To convert degrees celsius to degrees F multiply by 1.8 and add32. to convert Fto C subtract 32 and multiply by .56 .....or if you like fractions ...nine fifths and five nineths....and if you forget which is which like I do remember the bench mark that 61degrees F equals 16 degrees C ...I hope this helps.
My conversion goes like this. If it's really, really cold it's about zero degrees, if it's cold it's about 10 degrees, if it's comfortably warm it's about 20, if it's hot it's about 30 and if it's unbearably hot it's getting close to 40.
Today the temperature is between "really, really cold" and just plain "cold". /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've been sleeping nude since my early teens as well. Even when it gets really cold and I turn the thermostat down to conserve $$'s, I can't sleep with anything on. I just add a quilt to the bed and it warms up soon enough.
The only problem is when I go to visit my fiance's relatives with her. She makes me at least wear boxers there. UGH!! Even the loosest fitting boxers wind up binding around me and I can't wait to get out of bed the next morning. Maybe someday I'll convince her that her relatives won't come busting in our room when we're asleep and she'll let me sleep nude.
Oh, well. I guess we must all sacrifice sometimes. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

hi brainyguy
i guess the reason your fiance wants you to keep dressed in her parents home is because most of society still views nudity with sex, so if they saw you naked in bed they would assume you were having sex in their home on their sheets and they might be disgusted with this. as for my house, we usually clean the sheets before and after a guest arrives so that the guests have clean sheets for sleeping or other activities and than we clean it after the guests leave so that it is clean for the dog later. i say to sleep nude and enjoy whatever other pleasures, as long as you are quiet about it /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I can't remember ever wearing anything to sleep in (except on very rare occasions where it was necessary) and I was born in 1930. I don't remember too much before I was 10 or 11 but have been told that the summers of 1935 & 1936 were very hot and since the family all slewpt naked I wanted to be naked in the daytime too. Since we lived in the country and there were only 3 more farms between us and the end of the road I was allowed to do so.
I continued sleeping naked as I got older and when I went off to college I continued the habit. My roommate decided he'd try it having never slept naked and after about 2 nights, he was a convert. It got to where we both would be naked a lot in the evening and others seemed to accept what we were doing.
After getting married the practice of naked sleeping by the whole family continued and my son & his wife and their kids continue the custom.
I have an unmarried daughter but I understand she too, sleeps naked.
Truthfully I can't understand why anyone would want to wear anything to bed or, as far as that goes, why they'd want to ever wear anything if they didn't have too. I sure don't!

As a woman experiencing what we're now calling "perimenopause", I find that I can't comfortably sleep nude sometimes. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
When the night sweats hit with a vengeance, I wear a cotton tee-shirt to bed - it soaks up all the sweat and I can yank it off as soon as the sweats stop, then have dry sheets to snuggle back up in! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I guess it's a bit odd to sleep semi-clothed and undress immediately upon awakening (until it's time to get ready for work)!
Just sharing an oddity. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Despite being a naturist I have never, in all honesty, considered that sleeping naked was in any way connected with naturism. For me it's just an issue of comfort.
After all you are sleeping under covers so effectively you are not practising nudism when you're in bed.

Our family went camping last May, which is a bit early in the season here in Colorado.
As is our practice, my husband and I stripped off when we went to bed. We always take along an air mattress to keep those annoying rocks and twigs from bugging us during the night, as well as several blankets to allow individual levels of warmth and comfort.
That first night, it got down to 24 F!
We slept clothed the rest of the trip. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My wife actually sleeps naked more often than I, although she is not quite as comfortable with walking around the house naked as I am. Sometimes when I sleep naked the "natural parts" seem to just be in the way so I'll wear cotton briefs. Yet, as many have mentioned often when I go to bed wearing briefs I'll wake up and I'll be naked. I have a friend who once said that once her mom was visiting her and so she slept on the bedroom floor on a camp mat to let her mom use her bed, and although she loved being naked she wouldn't allow her mom to know she slept nude. So she wore a Tshirt to sleep in. Well the next morning not only was the Tshirt off, but so were the covers and so was the closet nudism from her mother. I think I'll just keep sleeping naked until I am completely comfy with it.

When I was a teenager, there came a time when I informed my mom that I preferred to sleep nude. I think she was asking if I needed a new nightgown, probably because she noticed I never put mine in the laundry!
Her response was something along the lines of "But what if the house catches on fire?".
While that's a much better response than "How disgusting" or "You pervert", I really don't think my state of dress (or undress) would be the first thing on my mind if the house caught on fire! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I usually sleep on my side and gravity takes over then if I role on my stomach the "natural parts" go from hanging down my side to being squished under my thigh and this tends to wake me up...

I have slept naked now for about twenty years. I have finally convinced my wife thats the only way to sleep and she now loves it to. Two of my close coworkers has found out I sleep nude and the female said "What if the house is on fire?" My reply was, if I have time I'll put something on, if not I guess my neighbors will see the real me. If something like that were to happen I think I would worry more about the safety of my family and mydself then seeing a naked body running for help.

here's a naked story from south florida- a family was sleeping at night when a burgler came into the house. the father caught the intrdder in the garage, and with the help of his teenage son, managed to subdue the guy until the police came. it wasn't until the police came that the man realized he was naked, which was no big deal to anyone. the robber probably sued the family and won (since the legal system is a joke), but that's not relevant here. so the moral of the story is - who cares if you are naked, you will do what you need to instinctively, clothed or not. sleep naked, protect your family, and enjoy your life.
