View Full Version : Bike Riding Letting it All Hang Out
If this is in the wrong place then someone can move it.
When I was out today shopping, I saw an interesting sight. A man was riding an adult sized tricycle wearing just a T shirt, hat, and shoes. He was on the other side of the road with three lanes between us but was coming from the opposite direction. I wasn't sure I was seeing what I thought I was and looked for a few seconds to be sure, and sure enough, he was bare between his waist and ankles. Even from that distance and with my poor eyesight, I could see enough to tell he wasn't wearing any pants, shorts, or anything else to cover his "manhood".
My thoughts when I saw him were, "If I can't do that, he shouldn't be able to do it." OK, so I was envious. I also thought, "I hope he doesn't get arrested." and "Do they actually allow public nudity here?"
When I returned to Natura, I told the CEO about him and was told that he was well known for riding nude and has been arrested before. He was just riding along and seemed totally oblivious to the fact that he was the only one without pants or shorts! I told the CEO that I wish I could do that.

Jon-Marc, recently I've been doing the same thing, except without the T-shirt, on a hybrid bike on local roads and highways and have posted reports here.
On my second last trip, lasting about an hour and a half, I was passed by more than 20 vehicles, with no discernible reaction from the drivers. (However, I imagine that they were surprised.)
Cycling nude, at least in some jurisdictions, is more feasible / less risky than people believe.
the surprise that I sense in your posting may relate to the fact that this was happening in your own state of Florida, which I gather has little or no tolerance of public nudity.

Publicly in florida, the law has very little tolerance for nudity, so I read and am told. I've heard of several spring breakers being locked up for indecent exposure.Though they may have deserved it.

Actually, the police may have little tolerance but Florida law certainly does. You have to be lewd and not just nude to legally be breaking the law. Ask T A Wyner and Roxanne Murano. Both won money in court after being arrested for mere nudity.
Unfortunately most people and most police aren't aware of this and don't fight the issue when they should.
I certainly hope no one thought I saw anything wrong with what he was doing; I was just surprised to see it on a 6-lane road (SR52 for those who know of it). There were a LOT more than 20 cars that passed him. I use that road to go everywhere I need to go. He might have been there before when I was out, but now that I'm beginning to learn my way around a little I look around more. This place is like a Metropolis compared to where I'm used to living. I grew up in a city of about 50,000, and you could drive all the way across the city in 20 minutes or less.
I have no idea what happened when he was arrested, or if they let him go because he wasn't totally nude with T-shirt, shoes and hat.
Also, there are a lot of people with adult sized tricycles, although I'm sure it's called something other than a tricycle. There was someone at Turtle Lake Resort who had one. The resort there also has large three-wheeled vehicles with fat wheels for riding on the water. You pedal it like a tricycle or paddled boat. It was a lot of fun to use it.

I believe they are indeed called tricycles. Just big ones http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Lake Como has small 2 person pedal powered paddleboats (say that quickly three times) that you can "rent" for a $5.00 refundable deposit, to use on the lake. Last time I used one tho the rudder got jammed and was stuck turning starboard (right). Took awhile to get back to shore.. lol

Laguna Del Sol http://www.lagunadelsol.com also has free 2 person paddle boats for use at the dock anytime on Lake Archie with two islands and a walk bridge.

Oh, I see -- it was how busy the road was. Very interesting. Also very interesting, Cyndiann's comment about nudity vs lewdity in FL.

Gary, I think I'll take that little jet boat in the background. Are those for rent also? http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Laguna Del Sol has a model boat racing team called "NOBRA" Nude boat racing association.
Anyone can bring model racing boats gas or electric. I don't know if people rent them, but some have big $$$ in some the budweiser model boat cost more than $500.
Maybe I can do a sports or the Fun of nude recreation photo album that would be intresting.

Very cool!
I believe Cypress Cove here in FL has a model sailboat regatta occasionally.
Lake Como did have a group of radio controlled model boating enthusiasts but I haven't seen or heard of them in some time.

Even the pets get involved in the fun of Nude recreation at Laguna Del Sol.
I guess we have hijacked the orignal topic "Bike Riding Letting it All Hang Out" LOL
Back to the topic, and I'll do a Sports, and Fun of Nude Recreation Photo Album that others can add too, which will be intresting.

Personally I don't see why the cop would pull them over, but I did get a chuckle out of that photo. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me so I could have gotten a picture of that guy, but could I have posted it without his permission, assuming he was OK enough mentally in order to give his permission or even to care?

It is perfectly legal to post pictures taken in public. If you took the picture, you own it. Much to the consternation of visitors to public nude beaches.

Yes, as well as ex boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives. If they let you take pictures you own the pictures.

Not necessarily. In the US, if those pictures were not taken in a public place you may very well need a model release to sell or distribute them even if you had permission to take the pictures, as the photographer who tried to sell nude pictures of actress Cameron Diaz (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4716297.stm) recently learned.

A possible legal reason for the police to stop the riders, depending on local law: The woman is not wearing a helmet!

Here in Seattle we have the Fremont Summer Solstice Festival. It is a big celebration of the beginning of summer and starts out with a big parade. The hi-lite of the parade is the naked body painted bicycle riders, which I was happy to be one of this year. The cops don't hassle us- they accept it as part of the parade. It was a total blast to ride naked down one of the main drags of Seattle. I have some pics from the ride- how do I post them?
