What do people at nudist clubs and parks do in the winter? Does anyone still visit? Does everyone just stay clothed?

Hey J17. I have read in numerous nudist publications and books that many clubs and resorts on the East Coast actually have snowball fights among themselves au natural!. Some of the states include Alaska(of course!), Washington D.C.,Vermont,Connecticut,and Maryland. They are some tough ol' boys and girls from what I have read. If you think you'll get me out there in a snowball fight in the buff, you're crazy! Just kidding! But seriously, I have just mentioned many states that have nudist resorts which are active in the wintertime. Unfortunately, I do not have the names of those resorts. If I was not of any assistance to you on this matter, I apologize.

Nu, California is a large state covering many latitudes and topographical variations. The weather is, therefore, variable. Here in San Diego, the weather today was in the low 70s. Tonight it will be in the low 60's. Even in San Diego the temperatures vary tremendously. It is usually cool along the coast, warmer inland, colder in the Mountains, then warm in the desert. My house is 6 miles from the bay. It is almost always about 8 degF warmer here than it is in downtown on the bay.
Even though San Diego and Los Angeles are only 90 miles apart, San Diego is usually cooler in the summer but warmer in the fall/winter. The northern part of CA is always colder. Especially in the mountains. There are real mountains...rising to over 14,000 feet. Even San Diego has its mountains with snow in the winter. Just a short drive outside the city the mountains rise to 6-7,000 feet with winter snow then drops to dry desert.
While going to high school in the Central Valley of CA (between Bakersfield and Fresno) we would have a nice warm day then take a short drive into the Sierras to ice skate.
Generally, North of Los Angeles it gets quite cold. Los Angeles is hotter in the summer than San Diego but San Diego is warmer in the winter. The most congenial weather in CA is in San Diego. This of course dismisses all the extremes of the mountains and deserts.

Over here in the UK we have numerous naturist swims at local leisure centres, some clubs are lucky enough to have indoor/covered pools, and we recently had a fantastic event at Alton Towers, a theme park that has a themed water-park hotel where we were naked from arrival on Friday right up to checking out at midday on Sunday.
Rave reports of the event on the British Naturism (http://www.british-naturism.org.uk/pages/pages.asp?page_ID=202) web site, details of the water-pare are HERE (http://www.altontowers.com/waterpark/).
One group organise an evening at a private leisure pool in Stoke-on-Trent that is attended by as many as 400 people at a time, thats held three times a year, the next one is in February, last year I was swimming in the open air section of the pool with snow falling, god job the water was warm!!

Go to Haulover Beach in north Miami Beach, southern Florida. We all were nude at Sunsport Nudist Resort last week, in November, in southern Florida, as it was in the 80 degrees and the water in the swimming pool was warm and ideal.

Got weather.com? Put in Zip Code 78541 -- that's where I'm going in the winter. The grass is green, the palm trees are beautiful, and the outdoor pool is heated to 90F.

No, I'm not kidding. What's wrong with Sunny and 76f in winter? And it never freezes there...
They claim average high temperature of 72f in December and January, and over 300 days of sunshine per year. Beats the "H" out of winter where I live!

Ok I was fooled by the 39 degree F current temp. and the fact that NudistParkUSA said not in range of the database for nudist resorts in Texas. I did find 19 landed clubs in TX and it listed "Sandpiper" at 78539.
So I take back what I said. I expected something like palm springs, CA when you mentioned palm trees. They also have over 350 days of warm sunshine.
Link to NudistparkUSA find by Zip or State (http://nudistparksusa.net/)

Here in central Va it's frequently above 40-50 F and sunny in the afternoons in the winter. So, I'm often naked in those conditions. Supposed to be sunny and about 50 this afternoon. I'll probably be shredding leaves naked.

The Glen Eden Sun Club in So California is open all year. There is not many days there when it's too cold to be outside nude. If its a little brisk have a seat on the patio where its sheltered from the wind.

It's a bit colder here in Ct. Lower 40's today. But on the warmer days in the 50's I might venture out for a brisk hike. It'd be good to find some freinds and maybe have some nude get togethers during the winter months though.

51 degree's for a high today in Bama, my part anyways. I ventured out on the deck nude a few times, but for the most part I was right here in front of the computer, nude and comfy.

As others have said it depends on where you live in California. Where I am at, which is inland towards the desert and at the foot hills of the mountains, we can have highs in the summer of 115F, the lows at 80F, and in the winter we can have highs as low as 35F and lows at 20F. Those are the more extreme temps, and it is not like that every year, and it will only last for a day or three. More usually summertime highs are in the high 90s low 100s, lows in the 70s, winters highs in the 60s lows in the 40s.

Winter weather is more like 5 degrees first thing in the morning. The snow powder crunches underfoot, crisp cold air scorches your lungs on a deep inhale, the wind puts ripples along the snow cover, a wooly hat is scatchy on your forehead, and the sky is crystal clear and deep deep blue.
Ahhhhhh. Anyone join me for a nude snow angel?

Some nudist parks have indoor facilities available for their members year-round.
There are also many clubs and groups that have indoor swims at rented sites, and in eastern New England there are at least three that are active.

Anyhow, the winter weather there in the Rio Grande Valley is far superior to the northern half of Missouri. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif
Look at that National map you posted above. The southern tip of Texas is way, waaaaaaaaay south of anything in CA, AZ, or NM. It's roughly equal to a point between Miami and Key West, and is therefore warmer even than most of Florida. It's America's (practically) unknown Oasis in winter!

The two travel clubs I used to belong to both visited local indoor pools. These were lots of fun and a great help in the winter. Unfortunately the local citizenry found out about it and put pressure on the swimming pool operators to close thier facilities to the nude swims.

Yesterday was one of the warmest days on record for that date (Nov. 21)
It was 58 Degrees here in western Minnesota. Normal temp is around 38 for a day time high.
So I took advantage of the nice day and spent a few hours out in the yard nude.
Of course it's still Fall. Winter isn't for another month in the northern hemisphere.
In winter it often gets to -20 at night and rarely get's above freezing most of the months of Jan. and Feb.
I hope to spend New Years weekend in Florida, at Haulover Beach. That's my favorite destination.

Turtle Lake Resort is open all year and is a great place in the winter. They have great dances and events. Check it out if you are in the Midwest. Its near Battle Creek, MI.
I echo the Haulover comment. We plan on getting there on the 16th for 3 weeks. As far as Texas being warmer than Florida in the winter because its further south, I don't think so. I think Key West is the furthest point south in the US (continental). Also the water currents and wind currents play a big role. There are days when CA or TX are warmer but consistently south Florida is the best bet for warm weather. Besides, it has HAULOVER!

Another place to go to in the winter is Avalon in West Virgina. They have a heated indoor pool area, whirlpools and saunas.
If you live on the east coast in the Baltimore, DC or Philly area, this might be an option. It's a few hours drive (if its not snowing) from DC.

Didn't say it was; please reread carefully. I only wrote that the southern tip of Texas is warmer than most of Florida. Study that map again; they are both huge states, therefore nothing applies to the entire state(s), weatherwise.
I think Key West is the furthest point south in the US...
Correct. That's why I wrote between Miami and Key West. The Texas Rio Grande Valley is further south than Miami and all other points north of there. And, therefore, generally warmer in winter. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
