My First Post, lets all celebrate, party at my place, see you there!

Okay, done to my point, here's what I have to say:
I've noticed that the majority of active nudists in the "online" community (oh god that sounded nerdy) appear to be male. ANd hey look at me I'm Male but yea, I'm just not too pleased with that. It makes it more difficult trying to find people to communicate with who are also nudist when all I have to choose from is a big list of guys. Any comments, or suggestions, or feelings on the issue are welcomed.

Enjoy.

The lack of female nudists has always been an enigma to me and several other people that write posts here, and the sudden and mysterious departure of hw (our most visable lady nudist) will probably make the situation even worse.

My working theory is issues with body image, but I've argued that before and I don't feel like ranting and raving at this very moment.

At least a third of the inquiries we receive are from guys who want to know how many women there will be, how young, and how available... It's usually not hard to identify the horndogs. But rest assured, almost every inconvenience, unfair screening practice, and so-called 'gender balance' policy that affects men in nudism is intended to keep the horndogs at bay.

There are lots of guys who's primary interest in nudism is to see nudist women.

Women know this.

Nudists, especialy nudist women, and most especially women very new to nudism, or only just contemplating nudism, don't particularly want to be 'on display'. And in established nudist society they aren't (at least not necessarily). But they have to cross a few hurdles to get themselves to the position where they are comfortable there.

Outside of nudism women are taught that they should never expose their bodies unless they are Hollywood star quality. And no one is of Hollywood star quality, not even Hollywood stars (http://ww4.lhj.com/lhj/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/lhj/story/data/jamieleecurtistruethighs_08212002.xml).

In active nudism the overal gender balance tends to be around 60/40 men to women. In those expressing an interest or curiousity about nudism online, or in making initial inquiries, the balance is at least 90% male. Witness any online 'nudist' group. Subtract out the handful of active nudists and you have nearly 100% males. (I actually believe there are quite a few more females, but they are either lurking, or using male online personas to avoid horndog attention.)

Mark you gotta be like the most active member here, are you an administrator or moderator or something? You have something to say in pretty much ever thread. But why in the YOUNG naturist/nudist section? Isn't this a board for the younger people? Meh who am I to say anything, I'm new here, I dunno how it works.
Your like Yoda or something, wise and learn-ed.

I'm just another member here at INA.

I was under the impression that "Young Naturists" was a section where topics of interest to "Young Naturists" were discussed. I wasn't under the impression that the questions that "Young Naturists" wanted answered should only be answered by "Young Naturists".

BTW, I am 42, which in most naturist gatherings makes me among the youngest participants. But that is a whole other thread.

Mark is it possible that you are actually a gorgeous nudist gal in her late twenties who posted her brother's picture as your avatar so folks will think you are a guy and leave you alone?

I've heard that the uglier the brother, the prettier the sister, so if you really are a girl... /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You need to take into account that about twice as many males are online as females.

Try textilism. It will seem strange at first but soon you'll completely forget that you are wearing clothes and it will seem natural and healthy. Also, there is no shortage of textiles who are women - in fact, just over half of us textiles are female!

Good luck!

Terrible advice, but funny!
Actually if you are a nudist you have both groups to enjoy socializing with!

Is it my imagination or are men simply more comfortable nude? I think guys just don't care what others think and are very casual about it. Not sure why that is, but when I chat with other male nudists friends - it was just never a big deal. Crazy.

Here is a part of the reason fewer women are comfortable with their bodies:

BODY FACTS (http://www.bodybodyproject.com/body_facts.htm)

In 1920, women established the right to vote. 1920 was also the first year of the Miss America Pageant.

75 percent of normal weight women think they are overweight; 90 percent overestimate their body size.

In a study of almost 500 schoolgirls, 81 percent of 10-year-olds reported that they had dieted at least once. Another study found that negative body image is associated with suicide risk for girls, but not for boys. The number-one wish for girls ages 11-17 is to be thinner.

For the first time in history, the smoking rate of girls now surpasses that of boys, with the compelling motivation of weight control. Forty to 50 percent of women smokers smoke because they see it as a primary means to control their weight. Of these women, 25 percent will die of a disease caused by smoking.

In a sample of male and female high school students, two-thirds of normal-weight boys and girls believed that being thinner would have an impact on their lives. The majority of girls believed that this impact would be positive, while the majority of the boys believed that the impact would be negative. Girls were more dissatisfied with their bodies than boys. Girls reported magazines as their primary source of information regarding diet and health, whereas boys reported their primary source to be parents.

Approximately 7 million girls and women struggle with eating disorders. About 1 million boys and men struggle with eating disorders.

The average American woman is 5'4" tall and weighs 140 pounds. The average American model is 5'11" tall and weighs 117 pounds. Today?s fashion models weigh 23 percent less than the average female. A woman between the ages of 18 and 34 has a 7 percent chance of being as slim as a catwalk model and 1 percent of being as thin as a supermodel. 69 percent of girls said that magazine models influence their idea of what the perfect body is supposed to look like.

25 percent of men and 45 percent of women are on a diet on any given day.

80 percent of women are dissatisfied with their appearance.

51 percent of 9- and 10-year-old girls feel better about themselves if they are on a diet.

91 percent of women recently surveyed on a college campus had attempted to control their weight through dieting; 22 percent dieted "often" or "always."

Americans spend more than $40 billion on dieting and diet-related products each year.

According to Teen People magazine, 27 percent of girls surveyed felt that the media pressures them to have a perfect body.

In a Stanford survey, 68 percent of female graduate and undergraduate students felt worse about their own bodies after looking through women?s magazines.

The average woman sees 400 to 600 advertisements per day, and by the time she is 17, she has received more than 250,000 commercial messages.
