If public naturism was accepted and legal would you walk around town and shop naked, even in the presence of clothed people?

I don't see why I wouldn't in the case you cited. However, it ain't gonna' happen, IMO.

I would love to live in that society. Cap Agde (sp) in France is very popular and people can be nude or clothed while shopping, Dr. appointments and all other daily living actvities. As I said, I would love to live in that type of society but I do not speak french.

I agree it ain't gonna happen but sure would love to see it happen. It wouldn't bother me if not all people were naked just as it doesn't bother me to see textiles on a C/O beach while I am as nature intended.

I guess I just don't know, it would probably depend on several factors at the time. I suppose that if there was enough nudity, and people were used to it, I'd be a lot more naked than not.

It really depends upon the reaction of the people you encounter. You aren't going to want to go very many places nude if you experience hostility every time.

Yes, I sure would. It would be a drag if I was the only nude person, but yes, nude is good.
Have shopped at a major discout department store on a dare. Had get purchase 5 items, including paying for them. It was 2:am.

Sure, why not. Like someone said, in the naturist quarter of Cap d'Agde, France, you can go all over town and do your shopping, go to clubs, go to the bank, grocery, etc., all naked. If clothes weren't required many people would be naked quite often, weather permitting.

My very intelligent wive once observed that the things people want to do are the ones that have very strong cultural tabboos against them. If nobody wanted to do them there wouldn't be any point in the culture spending so much time and energy prohibiting and punishing whatever it is. Nudity is obviously much desired because the society has to spend a ton of time and energy keeping people covered up.

That would be neat. Like others have said, it would depend on the context. If it was accepted as well as legal then sure, I would go nude in public places. Music festivals, picnics and other relaxed places would be great places to be nude on a warm summer day.

I live in a province where it is legal for women to be topfree wherever it is okay for men to be topfree. Unfortunately, no one, male or female seems to take advantage of that right. I have no desire to be the only topfree woman in the crowd. If the circumstances were similar for nudity, I would probably be the same way. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sad3.gif

Probably not. Let's face it, you can already go shopping legally in a speedo and flip-flops, but how many would feel comfortable doing that? OTOH, I'd have no problem dashing down to the local 7/11 to grab a 6-pack. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

It would be great!
It would also be great if everyone was acceptable of everyone also.
Ain't gonna happen! Too many people runnin around makin' sure everyone lives up to their ideals.

Probably if a fair enough percentage of the public did likewise. We'll get there some day, but it'll take a while.

This notion is pure fantisy but I have had such fantisys of going to Walmart to shop naked, not just to be naked there and shop but because I would prefer being nude and to shop and be comfortable would be icing on the cake.

There is a place in France where you can do that.

If that were legal and there were a number of people doing that and of course the public accepted all this then most likely I would also.

If we could go naked anywhere, I'd still advocate taking a towel or something to sit on. I don't know what they do in the town in France where nudity is allowed by shoppers. Us older folks drip.

Would like to bowl nude, too, but keeping the drips mopped up while senior bowling might be too much of a chore. This is perhaps why some tribes having people wearing loin clothes.

Really sad that police don't have anything better to do than this.

I will make it a point to never vacation in Arkansas. Their motto is that they are the "Natural State". What a bunch of nonsense. Couldn't be farther from the truth. Don't want to inadvertently do something that will upset their delicate sensibilities.

Would love to be nude in my neighborhood.

But like someone else said it's not going to happen.

I wouldn't hesitate to be nude in my community if I didn't have to worry about being arrested for it...

Many locations in the US have "health" regulation that require shirts and shoes, especially for food service places. Other places post signs which read, "No shirt, No shoes, No service."

If people got used to having naked people wandering around from time to time it would rapidly be acceptable. The society spends a huge amount of energy making nudity "wrong."

If nudity were legal everywhere, I might mow my lawn or go for an evening jog nude. I think seeing people downtown nude would be about as common as seeing people downtown in bathing suits is now, which is to say it wouldn't be common. I have read that even in Cap d'Agde nudity is rare in the evening hours and during the colder months of the year.

Generally those health dept regulations only apply to employees, not customers. But of course the individual establishment is free to set whatever requirement they desire.

If it were legal I would have absolutly no problem going around nude anywhere. Think of how much money, chemicals, and water we would save if we didn't have to do as much laundry.

By that I assume that you've never been asked to leave a restaurant because health dept. rules don't allow them to serve people without shoes. It may vary from place to place.

Indeed. The textile and chemical industires would fight the law. Forcing people to buy and use their products keeps them in business.

Just like topless bar owners would fight a law allowing women to be topless where ever men were.

No, what I am saying is that even though they say it is because of health dept. regulations, it is not. We've covered this territory before in discussions about barefooting. There are almost NO localities with health regulations concerning customer attire, ONLY employee attire. Think about it, are restaurant customers required to wear hairnets?

The fact that many establishments make rules about customer attire and falsely justify it on the grounds of health dept. regulations does not make it true.

i'm just waiting for the day. have often wondered what it would be like to just live at a resort. being able to sit outdoors and bbq in the nude, waiving at others as they go by and inviting them to join in. wouldn't it be nice!

Yes I would. As has been brought up before, being the only one nude when everyone else is clothed is not really an issue. The main thing would be that others accept it as OK.

I would certainly be willing to do it if others around me didn't cause too much of a fuss. They would eventually have to get used to it.

Has anyone else noticed that the growth of "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" parallels the growth of air conditioning? Technology has allowed "THEM" to enforce their dress code on us.

THEM, of course, is civilization. The concept of civilization that says "Naked is uncivilized, therefore the more we wear clothes and the more clothes we wear, the more civilized we are." A three piece suit is more civilized than a Speedo.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but if nudity was commonplace, what would nudists do? Check out this youtube video...pretty funny.

I do not see that happening at any point! I have had that experience during the time we lived at Cape D'agde in France and I will admit, even for a long time nudist such as myself, it did take some getting used to for me.
